Preview: Zamalek aim to regain winning form against Modern Sport - Egyptian Football

Cairo giants Zamalek will be looking to bounce back when they face Modern Sport in the Egyptian Premier League at Suez Canal Stadium on Thursday. Despite launching their campaign brilliantly with a 2-0 victory over Ceramica Cleopatra, the White Knights suffered a setback after a goalless draw against Arab Contractors on Saturday. The match saw Zamalek struggle to create clear-cut scoring opportunities, a point highlighted by coach Yannick Ferrera. The Belgian tactician admitted that his side struggled during the game against Arab Contractors. "We faced challenges in the final third of the field during the last match, where some mistakes affected our ability to score goals. However, we learn from every match and strive to improve our performance day by day," Ferrera explained during the pre-match press conference on Tuesday. He added that "the conditions for the Arab Contractors match were difficult, especially the quality of the pitch, which was not ideal, affecting our playing style." Furthermore, Ferrara noted that "the opponent relied on long balls and time-wasting," but that it was their role as a team to find solutions to these challenges instead of complaining. He also said he was happy to play against Modern Sport at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium. The Cairo-based side received a blow ahead of the game, however, when midfielder Nabil 'Donga' Emad was ruled out due to a knee injury sustained in the previous match. On the other hand, Zamalek could benefit from the services of left-back Ahmed Fatouh, who returned to training after apologising for attending a party without permission. Whether he participates in the match remains at the coach's discretion. Zamalek, currently fifth in the league standings with four points, will be looking to cement their supremacy over Modern Sport. Zamalek have emerged victorious in five of their previous seven league games, while Modern Sport have won one match and drawn one. On the other hand, sixth-placed Modern Sport kicked off their campaign with an impressive 2-2 draw against title holders Ahly. Then the team claimed a 2-1 victory over Ittihad of Alexandria in the previous matchday. Coach Magdy Abdel-Aaty, who took the helm at Modern Sport back in June, is expected to rely on veteran players such as Mohamed Abou Gabal, defender Ali El Fil, and striker Hossam Hassan to provide the experience needed in such games. He will also eye new signings Mahmoud Mamdouh, Rashad El Metwaly, Godwin Chika, and Adem Redjem to bolster his squad. Napoli Hit by Major Blow as Lukaku Suffers Serious Injury Ahead of Serie A Kick-Off

Rana Atef Napoli have been dealt a huge setback just days before the start of the 2025/26 Serie A season, after the club confirmed that Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has sustained a serious thigh injury that could sideline him until November. Lukaku was forced off during Thursday's 2-1 friendly win over Olympiacos and underwent medical tests that revealed the extent of the damage. In an official statement, Napoli announced: 'Examinations carried out at the Pineta Grande Hospital confirmed a high-grade tear in the rectus femoris muscle of Lukaku's left thigh. The player has already begun a rehabilitation program and will undergo a surgical consultation in the coming days.' The injury is a major blow for coach Antonio Conte, who will now be without one of his key attacking options for the season opener against Sassuolo this Saturday. Reports in Corriere dello Sport suggest that Napoli could move quickly in the transfer market, with several forwards already linked as potential replacements. Among the names mentioned are Joshua Zirkzee (Manchester United), Jean-Philippe Mateta (Crystal Palace), Artem Dovbyk (Roma), and Nikola Krstovic (Lecce). For Napoli supporters, the setback is particularly disappointing as they had hoped to see a powerful new strike partnership between Lukaku and summer signing Lorenzo Lucca. Instead, the club enters the new campaign facing a difficult challenge to maintain its attacking strength without their star forward. read more Japan Stun Spain 2-1 to Qualify for World Cup Last 16 World Cup 2022: Get to Know Confirmed Line-ups of Japan and Spain Group E Decider Saudi Arabia Bid Farewell to World Cup after 2-1 Loss to Mexico Tunisia Achieve Historic Win over France but Fail to Qualify Tunisia to Clash against France in World Cup Sports Get to Know Squad of Group D Teams in World Cup Sports Al Ahly Gift EGP 70,000 to Players After Claiming Egyptian Super Cup Title Sports Bencharki Hits First 2 Goals with Al Jazira Since Leaving Zamalek Sports Arsenal Possible Line-up for Nottingham Forest Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
