Receding hairlines now have sex appeal (if you style yours correctly)
Great news for the 85 percent of the male population who have succumbed to a receding hairline: balding is officially sexy right now. Leading the charge is 53-year-old actor Walton Goggins, whose unabashed embracing of his rapidly rising forehead has been getting women (and men) hot under the collar during the recent season of The White Lotus. You can cancel that trip to Turkey after all.
Goggins plays Rick, an ageing playboy with a much younger girlfriend (Chelsea, played by the brilliant Aimee Lou Wood, whose non-veneered teeth have also been a major talking point this season), who, and this is not a spoiler, is kind of a jerk.
Styled sartorially on Christian Slater's character from True Romance, he oozes quiet confidence and a complete lack of concern about his looks – which as we all know, is incredibly sexy. What's more, the cinematography has done nothing to hide his fantastic forehead: it shines in candlelit scenes and the camera lingers on it. There's no smoke and mirrors wizardry attempting to disguise it here.
In a world in which the hair transplant has become commonplace, whether or not it's owned up to (see: Justin Bieber, John Travolta and Jude Law) it's refreshing to see someone saying, 'No, I like my hair. I'm keeping it long – thank you very much.'
Goggins is such an outlier that there are whole Reddit forums dedicated to the subject. One is titled, 'How is Walton Goggins doing it?' with questions about his hair type, cut and attitude – crucially, from a man who wants to emulate his look. The only other Hollywood star with a receding hairline that we could think of was Ralph Fiennes – an actor with a capital A, which might be part of the reason.
'It's not just the hair on its own,' agrees hairstylist Luke Hersherson. 'It's a combination of his confidence, his nonchalance and his attitude, as well as his style. Everything works together. The fact that he is embracing it, rather than hiding it, also adds to the attractiveness, as well as the long hair – it gives him this, 'I don't give a shit' attitude. I'm not sure we'd be talking about it if all those things weren't true.'
And to answer that Redditor's million dollar question, how can real men who are starting to recede in their 50s and beyond achieve the same sexy, laid back vibe as Goggins' Rick?
' The key to his look is the length,' explains Hersherson. 'If you are keeping your hair long, then you need to make sure the sides are long enough to tuck behind the ears, otherwise they will stick out and give you too much width. If you've got really thick hair, then you might need to thin it so that it sits back more easily.'
Don't reach for the blow-drier either: the key here is to look as au natural as possible. 'In terms of styling, I'd advise letting it dry naturally, and just using some good products that don't look too waxy or gel-like,' he explains. 'Our Almost Everything Creme is brilliant for giving a little bit of hold, separation and texture, without it being too set – you still want movement in it. Use it when the hair is wet, which will take away that fluffiness and softness of first-day post-wash hair, and then you can use some more when it's dry as a separator. It just gives an ease to the hair.'
Sounds like it might finally be time to forget the first rule of 'hairline club': we never talk about hairlines.

"That's what happens. There's always people going, people coming back. "It's the amazing strength of this show because we can use people who are already a part of the history." Maslen isn't the only EastEnders star to address the possible return of Max, with Jacqueline Jossa, who plays Lauren Branning (Max's daughter), also commenting. Jossa said: "I have seen the rumours. I feel like you would have to ask Ben [Wadey], I'd love it. "They tell us nothing. I feel like they tell me nothing because if they tell me, I will tell the world by accident. "I know nothing. Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins appear in great spirits as they reunite for the first time since addressing feud rumours in tell all interview
Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins have reunited for the first time since addressing their feud rumours in tell all interview. The White Lotus stars appeared in great spirits as they sat side by side at a FYC Event held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in California on Tuesday evening. Beaming in the snaps, Aimee, 31, wowed in a simple little black dress with red flower corsage, while Walton, 53, kept it dapper in a grey suit. The pair were joined by the rest of the cast for the event as they posed together in a sweet group snap. The event comes after Aimee was pictured passionately embracing Happy Valley star Adam Long as the 'new couple' cuddled up on coffee date in London last week. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The actors, who star together in upcoming BBC series Film Club, looked smitten as they enjoyed a cuddle and a kiss outside of the cafe. Aimee has liked all of Adam's social media posts since their Film Club casting was announced last November. She was also quick to praise the star after he completed a sponsored run in aid of Movember and men's mental health awareness. On a snap of the actor and his running buddies, Aimee penned: 'YOU DID IT!!!!!!! ✨' It's believed the pair met last year working on their upcoming BBC Three series, written by Aimee, in which they play a couple. Meanwhile Aimee and Walton finally spoke out about the speculation over their strained relationship earlier this month - insisting they were both on good terms. Getting emotional in an interview for Variety Walton began: 'There is no feud. I adore, I love this woman madly, and she is so important to me.' The father-of-one, who has been married to Nadia Conners since 2011, proceeded to sing Wood's praises as he raved: 'This is Goldie Hawn. This is Meg Ryan. She can do anything, and she will.' Walton, 53, kept it dapper in a grey suit and black boots as he sat beside Aimee during the panel at the event Aimee and Walton finally spoke out about the speculation over their strained relationship earlier this month- insisting they were both on good terms 'You watch what the next 20 years of her experience will be. I'll be on an island, I think Greece. But she's special. There is no feud. She is love and I know that I am that to her. We care about each other very deeply,' he continued. Aimee proceeded to address the outrage over headlines that Walton unfollowed her on social media, which fans perceived as a sign they did not get along. 'I think it's such a comment on where we're at culturally,' she said over the online fury. 'Why is everyone obsessing over Instagram? That is irrelevant. We don't give a s**t about Instagram.' Wood explained she wished more people were having 'conversations about the story' of their White Lotus characters, Rick and Chelsea, and simply enjoying the show. As rumours swirled about them, Aimee revealed she initially wanted to correct people, but feared her words would get twisted. 'Eventually I just started to sit back and watch these people making something out of absolutely nothing,' she said of why she stayed silent. Walton chimed in to say: 'If I may add, just to put this to bed? The following or unfollowing. I'm a grown-a** man.'

Jaffa Cake lovers have complaint at they admit 'something's changed'
McVities Jaffa Cakes first arrived on the scene almost 100 years ago but recent fans of the sweet treat have expressed their disappointment after sampling them and coming to the same conclusion Jaffa Cake fans have shared a common complaint after spotting a 'difference' in the sweet treat's overall taste. The popular McVities snack is a quintessential British favourite. They're made up of a sponge base with a layer of orange flavoured jam topped with dark chocolate. They were first concocted almost 100 years ago, with many supermarkets and stores up and down the country creating their own versions of Jaffa Cakes. For many though, only the original McVities Jaffa Cake will suffice. The trusty treat is often found in the biscuit aisle, though it is legally considered a cake after a 1991 VAT ruling. Recently, one Jaffa Cakes fan picked up a pack in the supermarket after a few years of not having indulged in one. On Reddit, they explained they didn't 'even wait to get home' before opening the box and tucking in. Sadly, they soon regretted their choice, branding them 'dry'. They explained: 'That 'spongey' bit? It's not the same spongey bit I remember growing up. It's like drywall. 'Well, drywall is a bit far, but it ain't no sponge. I had three, just to make sure I wasn't going crazy, and they were all the same.' Once they got home, they offered them out to friends who agreed with their assessment and 'all said the same thing', convinced they're 'just not the same'. They then asked their fellow Reddit users: 'Has something changed? Have false memories allowed me to remember an absolutely supreme experience whilst munching on these delights? Or have they just decided to change the whole recipe to save a few quid?' They added: 'P.S. The absolute kings of the knock-off Jaffas used to be M&S. I don't dare try them now in case they've followed suit and sucked all the moisture out of theirs as well.' In the comments section, people shared their thoughts - and it seems the majority agree. One Reddit user observed: 'I used to think as you get old your taste buds change or you grew bigger but no, they f***ed with the sizes & recipes.' Another claimed: 'Off-brand Jaffa cakes have been superior for a few years now. Aldi ones are pretty good, M&S too'. Someone else complained about the size of Jaffa Cakes: 'They used to be 12 but now 10 in a packet. They have shrunk as I can easily get one in my gob as 20 odd years ago I would struggle. So that's 10 mouthfuls for me.' And another lamented: 'I'm actually starting to get p***ed off with how literally everything in the shops is crap. McVities Jaffa Cakes are a premium brand, if I am buying them I want the premium quality that ought to come with the premium branding. 'But no, I'm paying a premium price for a fancy box containing a worse tasting and smaller product than Aldi own brand. Might try them again in a decade.'
