EXCLUSIVE Freddy Brazier reveals he turned down Love Island in an attempt to step away from his family name and admits his social media is just like the ITV2 show

Daily Mail2 hours ago

Freddy Brazier has revealed he turned down dating show Love Island and that he wants to step away from his family name and not be remembered for who his parents are.
The 20-year-old son of Jeff Brazier and the late Jade Goody told The Mail how producers recently offered him a slot on the show.
'I'm on Instagram, I don't need Love Island,' he said.
'I've got Love Island on my phone from my bed.
'I need to do something without him [my dad]. I don't want to be seen as 'Freddy from Race with his dad.' I want to be known for something on my own.
'I'm more interested in modelling. I've got some good opportunities coming up – but this stuff with my dad isn't helping that.'
Freddy's reveal comes as he insisted, he is now 'not' going to rehab, days after revealing he was going to 'get clean' in Marbella.
He told fans last week that he has been addicted to smoking from the age of 12 and would be heading for treatment soon.
Freddy shared in an Instagram post on Sunday that he has decided he 'doesn't need rehab' and instead just 'needs a boys' holiday or a retreat'.
Posting a black and white photo of his younger self, he wrote: 'You know what I don't need rehab! I just need a holiday with a good group of boys or a retreat.'
Last week, Freddy also made candid remarks about wanting to rebuild a healthy relationship with his father Jeff, 46, after a family rift.
Freddy wrote: 'I've decided that I will be cutting down And I want to go to Rehab In Marbs as I feel if I'm in England I won't take getting clean seriously.
'I've been smoking from the age of 12 and it's time to stop it was a bad coping mechanism that turnt into an addiction something I relied on and something that made me feel sane and some what ok.
'I've found a rehabilitation centre and a boxing club I've found someone I want to get to know and I'm happy I got a good bunch of friends and I get out and enjoy myself.
'I want to be clean so I can life happily and have healthy relationships with people and be there for all of my family rather then feeling like I'm in the middle and have to choose a side.'
He continued: 'I haven't been able to feel love properly as I have never loved myself and it starts now I want to play football and take up boxing I want to be happy and be in a healthy relationship and have a healthy relationship with my Nana and my father.'
Celebrity Race Across the World star Freddy lost his mother when he was just four years old after she died from cervical cancer in 2009, and has since been raised by his dad Jeff.
Jeff has clashed multiple times with Jade's mum Jackiey Budden, and it was revealed last month the TV star is taking action in an attempt to legally block contact between his son and his grandmother, to keep him safe'.
And Freddy's love life has also recently made headlines.
His Love Island admission comes just days after Freddy enjoyed a first date with controversial influencer Tasha Newcombe, 22, at Glasshouse Terrace in London Bridge.
Tasha hit headlines herself last summer when she, then 21, became romantically involved with 16-year-old Marko Vituk, from Maidstone.
MailOnline contacted Bobby and Jackiey's reps for comment.
The latest series of the reality dating show kicks off on Monday night with host Maya Jama [pictured] set to introduce a new batch of sexy singletons looking for love
The new season of Love Island returns on June 9 with the full line-up of contestants confirmed.
This year's crop of hopefuls include a Declan Rice body double, fire breather and Maura Higgins lookalike and Maya will once again be at the helm after joining the popular dating series in January 2023.
This year, the show celebrates a decade on screens and promises to have 'more twists and turns than ever before' in honour of their 10-year anniversary.

Katherine Ryan: Battleaxe review – comedy's ice queen melts into audience agony aunt

How would you like a ruthless cynic as an agony aunt? That's the question thrown up by this touring show from Katherine Ryan, which pairs 45 minutes of caustic standup with a second 45 of counselling to the crowd. You might protest that that adds up to less than an hour of new material in Battleaxe, plus a second act that's more improvised therapy session meets audience Q&A. But at least those three-quarters of an hour find Ryan on imperious form, dispensing tart put-downs of men in general and some men in particular. The Guardian's journalism is independent. We will earn a commission if you buy something through an affiliate link. Learn more. This ice queen of comedy pose is one Ryan wears lightly now, after a few years where it sometimes felt restrictive and for show. Then came her 2022 show Missus, which diluted (or enriched) the persona to address the Canadian's then-recent out-of-the-blue marriage. Battleaxe is a retrenchment after that more expansive offering, with Ryan back in her high-status comfort zone, eye-rolling at her children's foibles, breaching PC protocols for LOLs, and wrinkling her nose at the weaker sex. 'If dildos could bleed a radiator, men would be obsolete.' There's a fine routine on the contrasting ways male and female bodies husband their reproductive material, and many a weary remark at the expense of 'im indoors. See this masterpiece of double-edgery: 'I love my current husband so much so far.' The Ryan we meet post-interval sits a little at odds to this act one badass, as she responds to problems volunteered by the crowd with even-handedness in place of cynical certainty. Fair enough: such is (in her own words) her duty of care, as she ministers to a man whose Lego habit his new wife refuses to tolerate, and a couple at odds about the appeal (or otherwise) of having a third child. But, in this touring show of two halves, the laughs in this crowdsourced comedy are milder than the short, sharp hit of concentrated Katherine that goes before. Touring until 28 June

Love Island 2025 first look with huge new twist and format change

Love Island launches tonight as 12 brand new islanders hope to find love in the Mallorcan villa this summer Love Island is back tonight on ITV2 with 12 brand new sexy singletons hoping to find love in the Mallorcan villa this summer. Here is your sneak peek into the launch episode before the show hits screens at 9pm. The episode kicks off with the girls - Shakira, Meg, Alima, Sophie, Megan and Helena - entering the newly refurb villa first, without any boys, as they all get to know one another. The conversation soon turns to dating as they each express their excitement to meet the single boys and start shouting for them to enter the villa. ‌ They don't have long to wait as host Maya Jama arrives and takes them to the fire pit for a chat. Getting straight to the point, Maya asks them what each of their types are, as Shakira starts by stating: "Tall, muscly, nice smile but for me it's all about personality. Witty, funny, charming." ‌ Helena laughs as she adds: "Personality always, my bar is low, I'm not fussy!" while payroll specialist Meg teases that she wants: "Tanned skin, taller and naughty eyes." 29-year-old Sophie says: "I want someone that's a gentleman, not a man child," while aspiring actress Megan jokingly adds: "I'm easily charmed, which is the problem…" Scots contestant Alima is headset in what she wants: "A Prince Charming Disney Prince… with no facial hair." Maya then announces a shocking change to the show's format, giving the girls the decision on who they want to couple up with based on their dating profiles. She reveals: "This year things are slightly different. You've told me what your type on paper is, but does that match your ideal man in reality? Come and join me by the pool." ‌ As the girls line up, Maya explains: "Girls, in front of you there are six love hearts and each boy has given me their dating profile which is written on each of these hearts - shall we have a look at what these boys have to offer?" On the boards, the girls see descriptions for this year's boys - Ben, Dejon, Harry, Conor, Blu and Tommy. They have to decide who they'd like to couple up with based on these key stats with the boy's names, age, job and a headline such as "I like to play hard and work harder! I love to play, so I work very hard". ‌ After chatting about the profiles and guessing who might be their perfect match, Maya counts them down - three, two, one - and the girls race to claim a heart. Only one girl can stand by each heart, so it's first come, first served. With just moments to choose, will everyone end up with the boy they wanted? or will there be instant regrets, leaving the girls eager to swap? Now it's the boys turn. With the girls locked in, they enter the villa one by one to discover who chose them. Will sparks fly right away - or did the girls rush into their decision? ‌ In another turn of events, Love Island UK has their first ever American bombshell. As Toni swaps Sin City for the Island of Majorca. Just as the islanders are getting settled into their new couples and getting to know one another, Maya makes a shock return to the villa in the evening with the huge news. ‌ Gathering everyone at the fire pit, Maya reveals the day isn't over yet and someone new is already on their way. Out of nowhere, the Villa is rocked by the arrival of the series' first bombshell - Toni - who makes a jaw-dropping entrance into the villa. It doesn't take long for the islanders to clock her American accent, as she flashes a smile and cheekily announces: "Good evening UK! Surprise!" ‌ The group is left stunned by the American bombshell and the boys are clearly intrigued, while the girls start to feel the heat. Maya then delivers a game-changing twist: Toni hasn't just flown in from across the pond, she's also about to immediately steal one of the boys. With all eyes on her, and the power in her hands, Toni grins and coyly replies: "Interesting..." But the twists keep coming. Maya has one more announcement - and the clock is ticking for one Islander. The countdown has begun, and someone's time in the Villa might be up quicker than you can say señorita… Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV3 and ITVX.
