Cricket Australia announced that tickets for the India-Australia ODI in Sydney and T20I in Canberra sold out four months early, driven by high demand from the Indian diaspora.
Cricket Australia (CA) announced on Thursday that public tickets for the India-Australia ODI match in Sydney and the T20I game in Canberra this November have sold out four months ahead of time.
In addition to the record-breaking Ashes ticket sales, CA noted significant interest from the Indian diaspora in purchasing tickets for the white-ball series in Australia in October-November.
Such has been the demand that 90,000 tickets for eight matches, including the highly popular T20Is in Melbourne and Brisbane, were sold out just two weeks after the sales window opened.
'Exhausting our public ticket allocation for the SCG ODI and Manuka Oval T20I four months prior to the series is a testament to the tremendous interest for the upcoming season amongst cricket fans."
'We are thrilled to see continued strong engagement amongst Indian diaspora off the back of a record-breaking Border Gavaskar series last summer. The forecast strong turnout of Australian and Indian fans means we'll again have a fantastic atmosphere at each match.
'There is extreme interest in what promises to be our biggest ever summer of cricket, so we encourage fans to buy early to avoid missing out on the action," said Joel Morrison, Executive General Manager Events & Operations, Cricket Australia, in a statement.
CA also mentioned that more than 16 percent of the tickets sold so far have been purchased by Indian fan clubs. The Bharat Army, one of the most active fan clubs, has purchased over 2,400 tickets. Fans based in India have also shown considerable enthusiasm, buying over 1,400 tickets.
Moreover, Amit Goyal from Brissy Baniyas, an Aggarwal community in Australia, has acquired 880 tickets for the Gabba T20I, making him the highest individual buyer for a single match. Meanwhile, the Indian Community of Gold Coast and Pakka Local have bought over 500 tickets for the Gold Coast and MCG T20Is, respectively.
Men's ODI Series v India:

"Australia had ruined our...": Rohit Sharma on iconic T20 WC 2024 win against 50-over champions

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 27 (ANI): India ODI skipper Rohit Sharma opened up and shared his thoughts on the rivalry between Men in Blue and Australia in the major ICC tournaments. The Men in Yellow defeated the Rohit Sharma-led side in the 50-over World Cup in the 2023 finals by six wickets, which was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19. Next year, in 2024, during the T20 World Cup in West India, Team India registered a 24-run victory over the Australian side in the Super Eight of the competition on June 24. This win helped the Indian side to advance to the semi-final of the tournament. Speaking on taking revenge from the Pat Cummins-led side, Rohit said in an interview on JioHotstar, 'Australia had ruined our and the whole country's November 19 in the ODI WC Final, so we should also give them a gift. These kinds of things were talked about in the dressing room. We had it in our minds that if we win this match, Australia will be out of this T20 World Cup.' Further, Rohit Sharma spoke about his knock against Australia during the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight game, where he slammed 92 runs off just 41 balls, which was laced with eight maximums and seven boundaries in his innings. The right-hand batter smashed runs at a whopping strike rate of 224.39 'When I stepped out to play against Australia in the 2024 T20 World Cup, all I had in my mind was that I had to score somehow. I had to perform well against them and score runs against them. I was looking to attack against each and every Australian bowler,' he added. On June 29 last year in Barbados, India ended an 11-year-long ICC Trophy drought, beating South Africa by seven runs to capture the ICC T20 World Cup title for the second time. This was Rohit's second ICC T20 WC title and his first ICC title as a captain, after the heartbreak of losing to Australia in the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at home following a ten-match win streak. Suryakumar undergoes successful sports hernia surgery in Germany

India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has undergone a successful surgery for a sports hernia in his lower right abdomen in Munich, Germany. PTI had reported last week that Suryakumar was suffering from a sports hernia in his right lower abdomen and will go under the knife if required. 'Life Update: Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I'm already on the road to recovery. Can't wait to be back,' the 34-year-old batter wrote on his social media handle on Wednesday (June 25, 2025). A sports hernia is a soft tissue injury in the groin or lower abdomen, often involving muscles, tendons, or ligaments. Following the surgery in Germany, he is expected to begin rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru in about two weeks. India's next white-ball assignment is a tour of Bangladesh in August, which will have three ODIs and three T20Is. Suryakumar, who hasn't featured in the 50-over format since the 2023 World Cup final, is expected to return to lead the T20I side in Chattogram on August 26. This was Suryakumar's third surgery in as many years. He underwent ankle surgery in 2023 and previously had the same sports hernia procedure in 2024. Before the surgery, Suryakumar was in scintillating form for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025 and was named the Player of the Tournament. He had amassed 717 runs — second behind Orange Cap winner Sai Sudharsan (759 runs) — as the Mumbai Indians finished in the playoffs, where they lost to Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2. In the T20 Mumbai League that followed, he led Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, scoring 122 runs in five innings.
