Beckhams and Nicola Peltz feud escalates into 'open warfare'
Last night, the spat between David and Victoria Beckham and their daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz escalated into outright hostility.
The Beckhams' circle is incensed after Nicola's friends levelled some shocking accusations about the cause of Brooklyn's estrangement from his family.
Nicola's buddy alleged: "We are at this point because Nicola, an outsider coming into the Beckham family, has been able to help Brooklyn see the emotional abuse and toxic behaviour within his family, that it's not healthy and it's not normal and it's not ok."
However, these remarks have provoked indignation from those near the Beckhams.
A Beckham insider countered: "I don't think anyone who has ever seen David and Victoria with their children would recognise this deeply unpleasant attack," adding that "It doesn't even warrant a response it's so ludicrous and patently untrue," reports the Mirror.
Another confidant of the Beckham household expressed shock, saying they were "open-mouthed" at Nicola's friends blaring "pumping out untruths".
They also said: "You wouldn't expect this of your worst enemy, let alone close family members. The whole thing beggars belief."
Concern is growing that Brooklyn isn't merely distancing himself from his parents but also from his siblings and lifelong pals.
A friend lamented the unfolding drama: "It's a desperately sad situation," expressing hope that things can be mended, stressing, "Everyone loves Brooklyn so much and hopes things can be resolved."
Insiders close to David and Victoria Beckham, as well as sources from LA where the wealthy Peltz family resides, suggest that there have been indications of issues for a while. As one individual succinctly stated: "It was always going to implode at some point."
The Beckhams' friends express that the entire situation is even more distressing considering how much the family has supported Nicola, including promoting her film Lola. A source commented: "How the Beckhams have been cast as unsupporting is ridiculous when they have been regularly posting about her endeavours to their millions of followers.
"But what makes the current situation even more galling is how Nicola appears to relish the association with the family name when it suits her."
They highlighted an instance deemed "bizarre" when Nicola was spotted wearing a blue and white Dolce and Gabbana biker jacket last February.
Victoria had famously donned the same jacket in the stands of Old Trafford to watch Manchester United clinch the Premier League title in 2001.
At the time, various media outlets - including fashion authority Vogue - speculated that Nicola had been "granted access to her mother-in-law's personal archive of noughties fashion." However, the Beckhams' friends insist this wasn't the case.
One friend remarked: "If not obsessive, it was definitely the most bizarre behaviour especially given relations weren't the greatest anyway in the wake of the wedding."
Friends of Nicola have spilled that her mum unknowingly purchased her the jacket way back in September 2023, "not knowing Victoria had worn it". Yet the pal revealed that "Nicola however did recognize the jacket and thought it was sweet to wear something her mother in law had worn," adding that "Nicola has only ever attempted to be close to the Beckhams as she's close with her own family."
It seems tensions rose around the time of the extravagant 2022 wedding celebration at the swanky £76 million Beckham estate in Palm Beach, Florida; friends of the Beckhams noted alarm bells started going off then.
An insider claimed: "Nicola was very stressed out and quite difficult to be around and at the time everyone put it down to wedding nerves, and gave her the benefit of the doubt. But looking back it was the beginning of the relationship fracturing."
The saga peaked with a spat over Nicola's wedding dress, which many thought would be a Victoria Beckham original, but instead she walked down the aisle in Valentino. Nicola's buddies allege Victoria made initial offers to design the dress, then ghosted on texts and calls from Nicola's stylist Leslie Fremar before finally texting Nicola that she couldn't do it, said the friend. However, those in the Beckhams' camp challenged these claims, with an insider saying: "This was such a long time ago....everyone needs to move on."
Nicola, influenced by her father Nelson Peltz's upbringing and combative nature, seems to have taken on his character. A source shared: "You don't get that rich by being shy and retiring. There is no doubt Nicola has inherited his spirit."
Her in-laws have been observing as not only Nicola but also her father got involved in two costly legal battles within the span of two years.
Initially, Mr Peltz took the wedding planners of Nicola and Brooklyn's wedding last April to court over supposed 'mistakes'. The planners retaliated with a counterclaim for breach of contract and 'interference' with a transaction.
The disagreement was eventually resolved through settlement.
More recently, last July, Nicola herself initiated legal proceedings against the dog groomer responsible for her chihuahua Nala directly preceding the dog's death. A source remarked: "Nicola doesn't take any prisoners and woe betide anyone who crosses her. The Beckhams are now in the crosshairs. It's why no one can see any way this whole saga ends anytime soon."
