Devon charity football match to honour two-year-old boy
The Marching On With Hendrix team - made up of family, friends, local footballers, ex-professionals and one current professional player - would play against Forever Green, a team of former Plymouth Argyle players.The charity supports parents, grandparents and siblings by offering counselling, emotional support, and meaningful keepsakes such as memory bears and jewellery. Mr Washbrook said: "We just felt like the support wasn't really available or wasn't right for us... so we we decided to set up on our own and and try and bridge that gap."We're entirely self-funded so every penny that goes out to our families is raised by us in the community that we that we're in... and the football match just happens to be the next one of those that we're doing."
'Grieve at your own pace'
Mr Washbrook said the event was open to all, with tickets £10 for adults, £2 for children and £20 for family tickets.The money would go "towards families who have lost a child between birth and 18 years old", he said.Mr Washbrook said his advice to parents experiencing a loss would be "grieve at your own pace"."Everybody's different, although we we all go through the grieving process, it's not a linear journey by any stretch of the imagination I know," he said."Follow what your what your feelings are, and there's no right or wrong way of grieving."

After a 17-minute delay, the solution finally arrived – in the form of Alan Cork, a Shrewsbury fan and Level 5-qualified referee, who stepped out of the stands to take over as fourth official. Due to the delay caused by an injured linesman, there were 17 minutes of first-half added time Shrewsbury celebrated Cork's intervention with a picture and message on X (formerly Twitter): 'Shout-out to our new fourth official for the afternoon! Thanks for saving the day, Alan.' Once play resumed, 17 additional minutes were added on to the end of the first half – but neither side could find a breakthrough. John Marquis and George Nurse both went close for the hosts, while Marcus Dinanga saw two first-half efforts for Bromley either ruled out or sent wide. Shrewsbury boss Michael Appleton handed out multiple debuts, including a start for forward Anthony Scully. Attendance at the Croud Meadow was 5,809, including 280 away fans. This wasn't the only League Two fixture to suffer disruption on the opening day. Newport County's 1-1 draw with Notts County was delayed by an hour after a medical emergency in the stands. Two air ambulances landed on the pitch at Rodney Parade before the game eventually kicked off at 4pm. Once it got going, the visitors started brightly but fell behind early in the second half when Gerard Garner nodded in from close range following a long throw. Jodi Jones drew Notts level from the penalty spot just after the hour mark, after Matt Baker was penalised for dragging down Matthew Dennis in the box. Both sides had chances to win it — Michael Reindorf struck the post for Newport — but had to settle for a point apiece.

Jersey Bulls cruised into the preliminary round of the FA Cup after thrashing Erith and Belvedere 5-0 at Carvalho gave the islanders - who were playing for the first time since winning promotion to the Isthmian League in May - a 13th minute lead as he finished well after good interplay with James Queree. Lorne Bickley made it 2-0 11 minutes later as he rounded the goalkeeper as thre Bulls began to assert their dominance. Scott Parker split his squad across two fixtures on Saturday, with the Clarets beaten 1-0 by Stoke City in a game that saw Josh Laurent sent off on the in the day, Parker attended an in-house fixture at the training ground before travelling to Stoke, thus enabling his entire group to amass minutes as the season nears."It's another game for us, which I'm pleased with," he said after Stoke's victory, courtesy of Ben Wilmot's goal."Obviously, we split the group today, due to just getting minutes in. The number of players we've got, we just needed to get some 90 minutes in legs. We've managed to do that, so that's a real positive."Today's game, there were some positives and obviously a bit disappointing towards the end because we're all here, Stoke included, to try and get the best preparation. They're a week out, we're two weeks out and obviously the game didn't turn out like that because of the sending off, which was hugely disappointing. Overall, we looked a little bit tired, and I suspected that, we've had a tough week. But yeah, overall, we've got what we came here for."The squad was split again. Obviously, a bit of a disappointment, we had a planned game, but we brought that in-house. That was a good game, I was there this morning, the boys did very, very well. We got 90 minutes out of a few players there as well. Then this game as well which was always planned."Overall, the planning of this weekend has changed drastically in the last 24 hours due to circumstances, hence why we came here with a real flat squad. But overall, minutes in the legs, that was a plus."
