Kailasagiri hill park all set to get a facelift

Hans India4 hours ago

Visakhapatnam: The most-frequented Kailasagiri is set to go through a major revamping exercise as efforts are on to develop the hilltop park as one of the sought-after tourist spots in the City of Destiny.
If things go as planned, a master plan is going to be drafted to take the project forward. It includes creation of an elevated walkway along the outer edge of the hill that would facilitate a 360-degree view of the city. With big plans in place where the artificial platform gets integrated with nature in a seamless manner, about 50 acres of the hilltop park will be developed like never before.
When CEO of Singapore-based Mandai Wildlife Group Mike Barclay recently paid a visit to the hilltop park along with Visakhapatnam MP M Sribharat and other officials, the tourist spot was considered for a serious transformation. 'It's a beautiful tourist spot. Currently, it is not much organised. The idea is to redevelop the entire stretch way better,' reasons the MP.
Incorporating best practices recommended by Mike Barclay, the project has been proposed to be transformed at a stretch. 'The CEO of Mandai Wildlife Group has a commendable track record. When he was the CEO of Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) before joining the Wildlife Reserves Singapore, he restructured the SDC and was instrumental in drawing massive footfall to Sentosa that rose to 20 million from a mere 5.6 million,' Sribharat elaborates.
Following the submission of a master plan, Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority will focus on a holistic transformation of Kailasagiri. 'Tourists visiting Visakhapatnam should have a minimum three-day itinerary wherein they could visit the beach stretches, Kailasagiri, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park. Kambalakonda Eco Tourism Park and return home reminiscing happy travel memories,' the MP emphasises.
With the proposal brought to the notice of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Mandai Wildlife Group sharing best practices, Kailasagiri is bracing for a structural change, adding a host of tourist-attractive features to it.

Transforming security for AI-enabled networks: Cisco's Kevin Wollenweber

NEW DELHI: The US-based Cisco Systems said it is working aggressively to transform the security landscape for artificial intelligence (AI)-backed networks following the multinationals' efforts to evolve network technologies. 'We will continue to evolve those technologies. We are transforming security for AI-enabled networks. Today, most of our firewall policy enforcement technologies are done at the edges of the network itself,' Kevin Wollenweber , senior vice president, Cisco Systems, told ETTelecom. Recently, Chuck Robbins-headed Cisco has revamped its security portfolio, making deployment more flexible for its customers and partners. The San Jose-based company said that it enforces AI security at the network level, decoupling AI deployment from security. The executive said, 'We have tied the security of the models into our identity technology so that we can look at your IT infrastructure and understand who is running what models.' 'So, at Cisco, we have been very careful about the usage of AI, and launched AI Defense , early this year.' Designed and developed for enterprises to build, deploy, and protect AI applications, Cisco AI Defense security solution, a part of cloud platform, focuses on AI deployment and monitoring AI usage across the organisation and is capable of detecting vulnerabilities and bringing security policies into effect. 'Our AI Defense product ensures the right level of capabilities to protect the application," Jeetu Patel, executive vice president at Cisco, separately said. Earlier, Cisco expressed its ambition of convergence between networking and security. In January this year, the networking and AI security company unveiled AI Defense, to safeguard AI transformation within enterprises.

Hindalco share price inches higher as arm to acquire US-based AluChem for ₹1,075 crore

Hindalco share price rose by over 1% during Wednesday's trading session following the announcement that its step-down wholly owned subsidiary, Aditya Holdings LLC, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a 100% interest in the US-based specialty alumina producer AluChem Companies Inc. The deal was valued at an enterprise amount of USD$125 million (approximately ₹ 1,074 crores), and the transaction is anticipated to be completed within the next 2 to 4 months. In an exchange filing, the company announced its acquisition of AluChem Companies, Inc. This decision to acquire the company as a stepdown subsidiary is a strategic initiative aimed at broadening the Company's global presence for its downstream range of specialty alumina and alumina products. AluChem Companies Inc. specializes in the production of niche alumina. Hindalco's specialty alumina division emphasizes unique alumina and alumina hydrates, which they produce internally. AluChem enhances Hindalco's footprint in North America, boasting an annual production capacity of 60,000 tonnes from its three state-of-the-art manufacturing plants located in Ohio and Arkansas. 'The acquisition unlocks immediate synergies for Hindalco, including market access and product portfolio expansion. Hindalco plans to work with AluChem's high performance technology solutions and scale up production of ultra-low soda alumina products to drive larger global market share. The acquisition reinforces our ability to offer end-to-end alumina solutions that are both future-ready and customer-centric,' said Saurabh Khedekar, CEO – Alumina Business, Hindalco Industries. ICICI Direct Research, in their report, noted that through this acquisition, the company is entering the low soda Tabular Alumina sector, which serves high-precision mechanical components and energy-intensive industrial refractories. This acquisition includes a capacity of 60k tons, raising Hindalco's overall specialty alumina capacity to 560k tons, with ambitions to reach 1 million tons by 2030. Consequently, this growth aligns with Hindalco's broader strategy to venture into value-added alumina markets, which are increasingly important for electric mobility, semiconductors, and precision ceramics. The acquisition has been valued at approximately 1.9x EV/sales based on CY24 earnings, which the brokerage considers slightly on the higher side. However, this segment is known for its strong profit margins, thus enhancing the company's overall profitability in the future. 'Thus, we maintain a positive view on the stock supported by strong demand for Aluminium and copper metal due to its incremental application in automobile and renewable spaces, strategic capacity expansion at Novelis and Hindalco and controlled leverage on B/S with Debt to Equity at ~0.5,' said ICICI Direct Research.
