Trouble mounted for him when the woman sought an additional Dh25,000 and he refused to pay. His denial led the women to threaten to expose him by sending the images and messages to his wife.
The man ignored the threats and searched for another sorcerer and paid Dh10,000. Even the second attempt failed; he contacted a third woman who didn't ask for money, but before anything progressed, he was arrested by police.
Wife gets to know about husband's plan
The wife said that her suspicions turned out to be true when a woman from outside the Emirates contacted her and provided evidence of her husband's use of magic for a fee of Dh35,000. This comes after she had filed for divorce due to ongoing abuse and had left the marital home two months prior.
When the wife refused to pay without proof, the woman sent her photos, a video, and images of spells, which she submitted as evidence to authorities.
Man charged with offences
The man was charged with four offences: engaging in fraud and sorcery with unknown individuals (whose phone numbers were traced), endangering others, violating privacy by sending personal images via WhatsApp, and unlawfully possessing and sharing private materials. The case was classified as a misdemeanour under cybercrime and fraud laws, Khaleej Times reported. The appeal from the man was dismissed, and the initial verdict against him was upheld.

On Thursday, the crime branch, under 'Operation Shakti', conducted a raid at the lodge following reliable intelligence. Sources said Ninave's prime clientele were transporters, drivers, loaders, and other employees visiting MIDC areas for work. The operation, led by senior inspector Amol Deshmukh under the supervision of DCP Rahul Maknikar and ACP Abhijeet Patil, resulted in the rescue of four women who were victims of the prostitution racket run by Ninave, a 55-year-old resident of Butibori. During the raid, authorities seized two mobile phones, Rs6,000 in cash, and other materials valued at Rs52,170 from the accused. Ninave was found exploiting the victims for financial gain by providing a space for prostitution. A case was registered against him at Hingna police station under Section 143(2) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 3, 4, 5, and 7 of the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act. 'On being alerted, we detained the youth. However, by then the post went viral, leading to trouble in the village already tense due to some previous incidents. The mob vandalised structures belonging to members of the opposite community hailing from outside,' Gill said. A Yavat police station official said a youth had allegedly desecrated the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on July 26, which had angered residents. 'Though there was some tension in the locality, the situation was under control since the person who committed the act was arrested at the time. Even a Hindu Jan Akrosh morcha held in Yavat on Thursday went off peacefully,' he said. 'The objectionable post by a youth now sparked off fresh tension.
