The Hague | President Donald Trump said the US would hold a meeting with Iran next week but cast doubt on the need for a diplomatic agreement on the country's nuclear program, citing the damage that American bombing had done to key sites.
'We're going to talk to them next week,' Trump said Wednesday at a press conference during the NATO summit at The Hague, without giving more details. 'We may sign an agreement. I don't know, to me, I don't think it's that necessary.'

'Iran can be erased': AI-generated video of 'King Charles' slamming Donald Trump fools social media users ahead of US President's second state visit to UK
An AI-generated viral video of King Charles allegedly delivering an anti-Trump speech following the US president's bombing of three nuclear sites in Iran has fooled social media users. Ahead of Trump's second state visit to the United Kingdom later this year, a video claiming to show Charles slamming the US President circulated widely online. In the clearly doctored clip, the 76-year-old monarch allegedly said he does "not stay silent" when "Donald Trump says Iran can be erased". "When generals whisper of bunker busters and tactical firepower, and when Israel's skies glow with the sparks of retaliation, I do not stay silent. "I will not let the world be dragged into chaos by those who speak louder than they think. "Mr Trump, this is not a game of missiles, this is the fate of millions." The fake version of Charles, understood to be rendered from his first address as monarch in 2022, continued by directly addressing those who "cheer" about the bombing of the Iranian sites "from the sidelines." "Know this: Every threat you make echoes far beyond your borders, and every move you make pulls this world closer to a fire," the 'monarch' said. "We may not survive, but Britain—Britain knows war. "We've stood at the edge of destruction before, and we did not flinch. "We've seen bombs fall, cities burn, kings flee, but we never bowed. "Now, once again, the world teeters, and I say: We will not be dragged by ego; we will not follow fury." 'King Charles' rounded out the speech by saying if Britain is "forced to rise", then "we will rise with fire in our chest and steel in our voice." "To my people: Stand tall. To the world: Look to Britain not for war but for wisdom," he is claimed to have said. According to a reverse image search by fact-checking website Snopes, parts of the video showed genuine clips from Charles' 2022 address. Snopes reported the beginning of the clip was a cropped and darkened version of the King's first address, where the monarch wore an identical black suit and tie with the same background of a bouquet on his right. The UK has a constitutional monarchy, which means that while the King is the Head of State, he remains politically impartial. And while Charles has expressed his opinions previously, there is no evidence to suggest he made the anti-Trump speech according to Stopes, despite the genuine use of his address as a visual aid. According to the site, deepfake audio detector Hiya also found various clips from the beginning, middle, and end of the speech highly likely to be AI-generated. However many social media users fell for the concocted video, with one writing, "Well said King Charles." "I'm not a fan but he speaks TRUTHS! Something [Trump] knows nothing about, only LIES!" added another. "A real King of 2025! He is doing so well, his mom and grand mother and dad in heaven are proudly watching," wrote a third. It comes after Trump announced the strikes on the Iranian facilities in a statement on social media on Saturday, local time. In his address to the nation shortly after the attacks, the President declared the facilities had been "completely and totally obliterated" as he urged Iran to "make peace". The strikes marked a significant development in the conflict in the Middle East amid ongoing rising tensions between Israel and Iran. Days after the strikes on Wednesday, Buckingham Palace confirmed Charles will host Trump for a state visit later this year. However, the President will bypass Charles' suggestion that the two men first meet informally over the summer when both of them are expected to be in Scotland, Britain's Press Association reported on Thursday. According to the publication, a scheduling conflict between the monarch's and the president's diaries ended the early meeting. British representatives last week hand-delivering the 'Manu Regia', an official invitation signalling the start of formal planning, to the White House, with confirmation of the exact date for the trip forthcoming. It marks the first time a modern elected political leader has been hosted for two state visits by a British monarch. A Palace aide said Charles "has known President Trump for many years and looks forward to hosting him and the First Lady later this year."
