Blumhouse and Atomic Monster will produce the film in association with Kinetic Games Limited.
In July 2024, Blumhouse commissioned a survey to classify 100 prominent horror films from the past 50 years into subgenres. The results identified the paranormal subgenre as one of the 24 thriving subgenres, with other examples including survival, slasher, and psychological thriller, among others.

Billy Joel shares first message with fans since brain disorder diagnosis
Billy Joel is taking his recent brain disorder diagnosis in his stride, according to the director of Billy Joel: And So It Goes. The legendary singer-songwriter, 76, who last month announced he had been diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), was notably absent from Wednesday's screening of the new documentary at Tribeca Film Festival. But that didn't stop him from relaying a message to the crowd through the movie's co-director, Susan Lacy. 'We know Billy wishes he were here tonight, and he asked us to convey that to you all. In fact, he said, 'Getting old sucks, but it's preferable to getting cremated,'' Lacy told the audience, per Deadline, assuring them that 'he will be back.' Tribeca Film Festival co-founders Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal additionally addressed the auditorium, with the latter saying: 'Billy wanted to be with us tonight, but as you may have heard, he's dealing with a health issue and had to postpone his performances, including this one tonight. We know you will join us in wishing him a speedy recovery.' 'He's our piano man, a wonderful, integral part of the heartbeat of our city,' De Niro added. 'Tonight, we get to see the man behind the music and behind the legend. You're in for a real treat.' Directed by Lacy and Jessica Levin, Billy Joel: And So It Goes charts the meteoric rise of the five-time Grammy-winner from his humble Long Island beginnings to international stardom. Pulling back the curtain on Joel's private world, it includes unreleased performances, intimate home movies, and never-before-seen behind-the-scenes moments. Billy Joel: And So It Goes will debut on HBO and be available to stream on Max in July. The documentary's world premiere comes weeks after Joel canceled all of his upcoming concerts and tour dates due to his NPH diagnosis. NPH is a condition caused by excess cerebrospinal fluid building up in the brain's ventricles, which leads to increased pressure that compresses brain tissue and can lead to neurological symptoms. The NHS describes it as an uncommon and poorly understood condition that typically affects people over the age of 60. Patients are often diagnosed after they see a doctor because they or a family member are concerned they might be developing dementia, as the symptoms – from memory loss, bladder control issues and trouble walking – can be similar. A statement shared to his official Instagram at the time read: 'This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision, and balance. 'Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period. Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health,' it continued. 'He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage.'

Trump Vs Musk Gets BBC ‘Have I Got News For You' Treatment After Meltdown Occurs During Recording
EXCLUSIVE: It was the bust-up that was long predicted, but spectacular nonetheless. Donald Trump and Elon Musk's steady separation suddenly went thermonuclear on Thursday, with the former MAGA mates exchanging Molotovs across two social media platforms. Deadline hears that the fireworks broke out as Hat Trick Productions was recording the final episode in the current season of BBC comedy series Have I Got News For You. Cameras were about to be shut down for the night when producers decided to throw the Trump-Musk meltdown at presenter Richard Ayoade and teams led by Ian Hislop and Paul Merton. We hear that Trump vs Musk will feature towards the end of the show, with Merton and Hislop offering their typically withering commentary on events in the U.S. Their teammates on the night were comedian Jack Dee and Kelly Cates, one of the new presenters of Premier League highlights show Match of the Day. Have I Got News For You will air at 9PM on BBC1 on Friday. The timing was somewhat auspicious given that the show is about to bow out for its 69th season. HIGNFY first launched in the UK in 1990 and continues to attract around 3M viewers, often making it BBC1's most-watched show of the day. Hat Trick Productions, run by Jimmy Mulville, has recently established Have I Got News for You on CNN in America. Filming has concluded on Season 2, and CNN has renewed the comedy show for a third run, which will begin screening in September. Hosted by Roy Wood Jr., along with team captains Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black, the show was ultimately greenlit by Mark Thompson, who is entwined in the history of Have I Got News for You, having served as the BBC's director general. Mulville would have loved for the Musk-Trump imbroglio to play out while the CNN series was in production, but for now, he will have to make do with the story gatecrashing the UK show. Benny Blanco teases next big relationship milestone with Selena Gomez: ‘Dreaming and praying every day'
Babies on the brain. Benny Blanco revealed that he and his fiancée Selena Gomez are already thinking about having kids. 'I love kids; I love being an uncle. I want to be a dad, though, God willing,' Blanco said in an interview with InStyle published Wednesday. 'I'm just dreaming and praying every day,' he said of starting a family. The couple already took the next big step in their relationship in February by purchasing a $35 million Spanish-style estate in Beverly Hills, Calif. 'I love making a house my own,' Blanco told the outlet. 'I'm not in there with the staple gun, but I'm in there with tchotchkes and a lot of creativity and heart. I hate it when you go into a person's house and you're like, 'Ooh, it feels like nobody lives here!' I don't want to be scared to sit down on s–t.' The music producer admitted that he learned most of his relationship advice from his mom before he and Gomez became serious. 'My mom always took the time to explain how a female mind works because she was going through so many dating traumas when I was growing up,' he shared of his mother, who is divorced from his dad. 'I've had some tough times, but I've always been like a very happy person. I just wake up stoked every day,' he said. While Blanco claimed there have been no men in his life to teach him about 'emotional competency,' he has learned what not to do by observing his friends' dating lives. 'Some things [I] learn from friends of mine. I see them do something stupid, and I'm like, 'Oh my God, I'll never do that in a relationship,'' he said. 'Then sometimes you see your friend do something rad, and you're like, 'Ooh, I'm taking that little idea.'' He added, 'You stop learning when you stop listening.' Over the years, Blanco has learned that men struggle to actually listen to what women want. 'I think people's biggest problem, especially men, is we don't listen all the time… A woman will tell you exactly what she needs,' he said. At 37 years old, Blanco hopes that he knows 'how to treat a woman by now.' 'Like, you should always ask a woman what they wanna do. Don't always talk about yourself. Then you put it into practice… and you f–k up so much, oh my God,' he said, before asking, 'You know how many frogs I had to kiss to get to Selena?' While Blanco acknowledged that his exes were 'beautiful frogs,' he emphasized that most guys are 'so bad' with women. 'I know so many awesome women who are single. And it's like, how are they single? They're 10 out of 10!' he said. 'But there are so many f–kboys. Don't settle, ladies. Not for some dude that uses more hair gel than you do.' The 'Only Murders in the Building' actress, 32, and Blanco went public with their love in December 2023 — six months after they started dating. A year later, they got engaged. While Blanco has been open about wanting to have kids with Gomez for quite some time, the singer revealed last year that she can't carry her own children due to medical issues. However, Gomez, who suffers from lupus, confirmed to Vanity Fair that she would be interested in starting a family by using a surrogate or adopting. 'It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I'm one of those people,' she told the outlet at the time. 'I'm excited for what that journey will look like, but it'll look a little different.'
