Bangladesh go three from three while Ireland claim first win in ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifier
Bangladesh made it three wins from as many matches at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifier with a 34-run win over Scotland.
Nigar Sultana Joty's rapid and unbeaten 83 was backed up by four wickets for Nahida Akter as Bangladesh joined Pakistan on six points, leapfrogging the hosts at the summit on net run rate.
In the day's other fixture, Ireland got off the mark for the competition with a 46-run win over Thailand, Louise Little starring with five wickets.
Bangladesh hold firm against Scotland
Bangladesh lost Ishma Tanjim (14) early, but Fargana Hoque and Sharmin Akhter laid the foundation for a strong total, both scoring patient scores of 57 before falling in quick succession.
The stage was left clear for the in-form Joty to dominate the death overs, the skipper finished unbeaten on 83 from 59 deliveries to add to her scores of 101 against Thailand and 51 against Ireland.
Fahima Khatun chipped in with a valuable 26 from 22 balls as Bangladesh lifted themselves to 276 for six. Kathryn Bryce was the pick of the Scotland attack with two for 53.
Marufa Akter and Nahida Akter combined to reduce Scotland to 31 for three in their reply, Nahida claimed the key wicket of skipper Bryce, who was bowled out for five.
Her sister, wicketkeeper Sarah Bryce, picked up the mantle and compiled a busy 42 before chipping a return catch back to Jannatul Ferdus to leave her side 102 for six. That soon became 110 for seven but Priyanaz Chatterji and Rachel Slater showed admirable resilience over the course of their 115-run stand for the eighth wicket, which was ended when Chatterji was stumped off the bowling of Nahida for 61.
Slater returned unbeaten for 63 as Scotland finished 34 runs short, Nahida ending with four for 40 as her side consolidated their place alongside Pakistan in the top two.
Louise Little inspires Ireland triumph
Louise Little's five-wicket haul helped seal victory for Ireland against a Thailand side still looking for their first win of the Qualifier.
Ireland batted first and started strongly, Sarah Forbes and captain Gaby Lewis shared 88 for the opening stand before the former fell for 29 from the final ball of the 16th over.
Lewis progressed past her half-century before becoming the next batter to fall for 75, but Amy Hunter kept up the momentum with a 71-ball 76 including 10 boundaries.
Hunter was clean bowled by Chanida Sutthiruang, the pick of the Thailand bowlers with one for 43 from her 10 overs, while Leah Paul smashed an unbeaten 67 from 40 balls, with 10 fours and a six, as Ireland finished with a flourish.
Eighty-six runs came from the final 10 overs to take the score to 305 for four and set an imposing target for Thailand to chase.
That task became steeper when they slipped to 76 for four in their reply and though several of their middle order got starts, notably captain Naruemol Chaiwai (37), Phannita Maya (43) and Suwanan Khiaoto (57), Ireland stayed in control with regular wickets.
Little, the younger sister of Ireland men's star Josh and women's teammate Hannah, was the chief destroyer, removing both Maya and Khiaoto on her way to career-best figures of five for 28 from 9.1 overs as Thailand were bowled out for 259 in the final over.

ICC Women's CWCQ 2025 final day wrap: Pakistan finish unbeaten, Bangladesh qualify after West Indies' narrow miss
A thrilling day of cricket unfolded on the final day of action at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025. In the opening match, Pakistan delivered a clinical performance, defeating Bangladesh by 7 wickets to remain unbeaten in the tournament. The result left Bangladesh's qualification hopes hanging in the balance, dependent on the outcome of the final clash between Thailand and West Indies. With the equation clear, West Indies faced a daunting task—chasing 167 in just 10.1 overs to secure a World Cup berth. They came out all guns blazing, with a blistering display of power-hitting. But despite their valiant effort, the West Indies fell agonisingly short, narrowly missing out on qualification. Here's how the dramatic day unfolded: The decision to bat first backfired initially for Bangladesh, as the Pakistan bowlers reduced them to 21/3 inside the opening seven overs. Openers Fargana Hoque (0) and Dilara Akter (13) failed to make an impact at the top, while skipper Nigar Sultana Joty soon followed them to the dugout for a single run. Sharmin Akhter piled up a few good hits on her way to a 47-ball 24, before Muneeba Ali caught a blinder at backward point to leave Bangladesh tottering at 65/4. Mst Ritu Moni displayed resilience alongside Nahida Akter as the pair went on the rebuild for Bangladesh with a 44-run stand. Pakistan's pressure paid off again in the form of the latter's dismissal for 19, leaving them half the side down for 109 at the brink of the 32nd over. Ritu Moni kept going but a loose shot just two short of her half-century had her stumped off a ripper from Nashra Sundhu, putting an end to her 76-ball 48. Fahima Khatun's valuable 44* pushed the scorecard past the 175-run mark, as they finished off their 50 overs at 178/9. Sadia Iqbal was the star for Pakistan, helping herself to 3-28, while skipper Fatima Sana and Diana Baig grabbed two apiece in a solid performance with the ball. Joined by Alia Riaz, Ali kept going and notched up her second half-century of the tournament to keep the hosts on track in the Akter eventually broke through to dismiss Muneeba Ali, bringing an end to her brilliant knock of 69 off 93 balls. However, the damage had already been done. Aliya Riaz added the finishing touches with a composed unbeaten half-century, guiding Pakistan to a comfortable 7-wicket victory. With this win, Pakistan capped off their campaign unbeaten, finishing at the top of the table. With Bangladesh's defeat against Pakistan, West Indies' hopes of qualification remained alive. In the all-important encounter against Thailand, West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl first. Thailand got off to a decent start, reaching 64/2 by the 16th over. However, the momentum soon shifted as West Indies turned the game around dramatically. Afy Fletcher and Aaliyah Alleyne triggered a collapse, claiming four quick wickets to leave Thailand reeling at 85/6. A crucial 33-run partnership followed for Thailand between Natthakan Chantham and Suwanan Khiaoto helping Thailand reach 118-7. Matthews on the charge against Thailand | WCWCQ 2025 Hayley Matthews on the charge against Thailand in the final match of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025 Natthakan Chantham provided some resistance, anchoring the innings with a gritty knock of 66 runs off 98 balls. Thanks to her efforts, Thailand managed a partial recovery and posted 166 on the board. West Indies needed to chase down the target of 167 in 10.1 overs in order to secure qualification for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 later this year. They could extend the chase to 11 overs if they level the scores at 166 and then seal the win with a six. West Indies began their chase in explosive fashion, getting past the 50-run mark in just 3.3 overs. Qiana Joseph looked dangerous early on but was dismissed for 26 by Thipatcha Putthawong, giving Thailand their first breakthrough. The Windies stormed past the 100-run mark in 6.5 overs, but disaster struck on the very next ball as skipper Hayley Matthews departed after a blistering 70 off just 29 deliveries. Chinelle Henry kept the momentum alive with a fiery 48 off 17 balls but fell in the 11th over, leaving West Indies with a steep ask in the final moments. Needing a four and a six off consecutive deliveries to stay in contention, heartbreak followed. Stafanie Taylor launched a towering shot over long-on, but it went for six — not enough to keep their hopes alive. In a cruel twist, West Indies fell agonizingly short, ending their bid for World Cup qualification and sending Bangladesh through to the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025. Bangladesh win thriller against Ireland in ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifier
Ritu Moni sealed a stunning two-wicket victory for Bangladesh over Ireland in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifier in Lahore. This means Bangladesh now have two wins from two, while Ireland have been on the wrong end of three narrow defeats. Orla Prendergast's all-round performance looked set to hand Ireland a first win of the tournament, but an unbroken 54-run stand for the ninth wicket saw Bangladesh chase down a target of 236. Prendergast scored a valuable 41 as Ireland made 235 for eight batting first, before taking two wickets in her first three overs to derail the Bangladeshi chase. However, Bangladesh never panicked in their chase, and after skipper Nigar Sultana Joty made a half-century, they were seen home by a brilliant 67 off 61 from Ritu, who clinched the win with a six in the penultimate over. In the first match of the day, Kathryn Bryce starred with the bat before fine bowling from Rachel Slater helped Scotland claim their second victory at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier with a 58-run win over Thailand. The Scotland skipper made 60, ably supported by Megan McColl's 57, to help them to 206 all out batting first in Lahore. Despite a promising start from Thailand in response, only Natthakan Chantham (63) was able to build a big score in the chase, with Slater's three for nine at the start of the innings crucial. Bangladesh come back from the brink Having lost their first two matches, Ireland needed to triumph in this one, and chose to bat first after winning the toss. Sarah Forbes was run out for four in the fourth over, but Gaby Lewis (24) and the in-form Amy Hunter (33) responded with a 50-run stand. The skipper succumbed, caught and bowled by Jannatul Ferdus before Hunter was the second run-out victim of the innings, leaving Ireland on 77 for three. That brought Prendergast and Laura Delany together, with the duo adding 72 in 16 overs to set the platform. Prendergast was trapped in front by Rabeya Khan before Delany fell for 63, stumped by Nigar Sultana Joty off the bowling of Fahima Khatun. Rabeya bowled Leah Paul for 19 before having Christina Coulter Reilly caught behind for 10 to finish with impressive figures of three for 39. A handy, unbeaten 24 from Arlene Kelly helped Ireland to 235 for eight from their 50 overs. Bangladesh's reply got off to the worst possible start, Fargana Hoque falling to Prendergast (2/14) off the third ball of the innings, with opening partner Ishma Tanjim joining her soon after to leave them two for two. Sharmin Akhter and Nigar started to rebuild, putting on a half-century before Sharmin was dismissed leg before for 24. Nigar brought up her own fifty, but she and Sobhana Mostary fell in quick succession to leave Bangladesh 94 for five. Fahima (28) helped keep Bangladesh in the hunt alongside Ritu Moni but when she departed, followed by Jannatul (19) and Rabeya (5), they looked to be out of it. From 186 for eight however, Ritu and Nahida Akter (18 not out) paced their partnership perfectly, with Ritu sealing the win with a six leaving eight balls still remaining. Bryce leads Scotland charge against Thailand In the first game of the day, Kathryn Bryce produced a captain's knock before Rachel Slater's miserly bowling helped Scotland to a 58-run win over Thailand. Bryce made an important 60 for Scotland before Megan McColl's 57 helped them to 206 all out from 41 overs. Slater then made important breakthroughs at the top of the innings in reply, finishing with figures of three for nine from her six overs. Despite an opening stand of 41, Thailand could not maintain the pressure on the Scots, despite 63 from Natthakan Chantham. As well as Slater, Abtaha Maqsood (3/26) and Katherine Fraser (3/28) also picked up three wickets to wrap up a second win from three games. Scores in brief Scotland v Thailand – Lahore City Cricket Association Ground, Lahore Scotland 206 all out in 41 overs (Kathryn Bryce 60, Megan McColl; Thipatcha Putthawong 3/28, Onnicha Kamchomphu 3/34) Thailand 148 all out in 31.3 overs (Natthakan Chantham 63, Nattaya Boochatham 20; Rachel Slater 3/9, Abtaha Maqsood 3/26) Result: Scotland won by 58 runs Bangladesh v Ireland – Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore Ireland 235 for eight 50 overs (Laura Delany 63, Orla Prendergast 41; Rabeya Khan 3/39, Fahima Khatun 2/50) Bangladesh 240 for eight in 48.4 overs (Ritu Moni 67 not out, Nigar Sultana 51; Orla Prendergast 2/14, Arlene Kelly 2/53) Result: Bangladesh won by two wickets
