AC Milan reopen talks with 22-year-old Atletico Madrid and Manchester United target

Yahoo18-07-2025
Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra continues to be the object of speculation and uncertainty, with his future up in the air this summer. His agents met with Los Che earlier this month to discuss his next move, with giants from around Europe keen on prying him away from Mestalla.
Guerra was due to meet with Valencia officials on the seventh of July to discuss his future, with AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United all keen on the 22-year-old. He currently has two years left on his deal, but there is a suggestion Valencia could cash in on him, with a €25m deal all but agreed last summer with Los Rojiblancos.
AC Milan open talks with Guerra
As explained by Matteo Moretto, Guerra did indeeed meet with Valencia on the seventh of July to discuss his future. However Los Che are yet to present a contract offer to Guerra and his camp, with the promised wage rise. United and Atletico are keeping tabs on the situation, but Milan have gone a step further, and have opened talks with Guerra, and are hoping to reach an agreement on personal terms. They have not yet opened talks with Valencia.
Valencia record of selling young talent
A similar course of events took place with Cristhian Mosquera, who fed up of waiting for a contract offer, began negotiating with Arsenal. In Guerra's case, Valencia still have two years to parse a new deal with him. However their record with the likes of Giorgi Mamardashvili, Mosquera, Yarek Gasiorowski, Yunus Musah and Carlos Soler suggests they would be willing to negotiate.

Perhaps the element of uncertainty is the arrival of former Chelsea operator Ron Gourlay, who was recently appointed as general manager. Gourlay is thought to have a large say in the running of the club owned by Peter Lim and Meriton Holdings.

🎥 Barcelona reach major milestone with new turf laid at Camp Nou

Barcelona have reached a major milestone in their return to Camp Nou with the pitch being laid on Tuesday. A clip on social media shows the grass being put down at the revamped stadium although as to when the team will start playing at the iconic ground is still unknown. Club officials and local authorities continue to manage the delayed timeline carefully. While Barcelona had initially aimed to resume matches at Camp Nou by August—specifically for the Joan Gamper Trophy on 10 August—that date has been officially ruled out due to pending construction permits, prompting the club to relocate the prestige match to their Johan Cruyff Stadium. In recent days, a technical and operational trial was conducted at the stadium. On 28 July, the club carried out extensive tests focusing on systems critical to match-day logistics—lighting, evacuation routes, fire detection, signage and accessibility in the South stand and VIP areas. Barcelona are targeting a partial reopening on 14 September, capped at around 60% capacity, equating to approximately 62,000 seats, for a La Liga match against Valencia. Despite these preparations, observers note continued delays across the broader redevelopment. While the pitch is ready and key operational elements are being tested, the third tier of seating and the stadium's roof remain under construction and are now postponed until summer 2026, with full completion expected in mid‑2026. Once fully complete, the upgraded stadium will hold around 105,000 spectators, making it the largest in Europe. The renovation includes improved VIP facilities, museum space, and modern accessibility features—all part of the ambitious €1.5 billion Espai Barça project aimed at boosting matchday revenue and club sustainability. 📸 JOSEP LAGO - AFP or licensors

Joao Felix leaves Chelsea to join Al-Nassr

Joao Felix has left Chelsea to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr on a permanent deal. The 25-year-old Portugal international moved to Stamford Bridge from Atletico Madrid last summer, having had an earlier spell with the Blues on loan in 2023. He made 20 appearances for Enzo Maresca's side in the first half of the season – but started only three Premier League games – before leaving for AC Milan on loan in January. 'We thank Joao for his efforts across his two spells at the club and wish him well for the future,' Chelsea said in the statement. Felix has signed a two-year contract with his new club. Al-Nassr have reportedly paid an initial £26million transfer fee, although add-ons could see that rise as high as £43million – close to the sum Chelsea paid Atletico for his services last summer. He joins his Portugal team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, who announced his arrival with a short video on social media in which Felix said: 'I am here to spread joy. Let's win together.'
