Project Motor Racing , the impressive racing sim made by industry veterans behind the GTR and Project CARS games, has announced an official 25 November 2025 release date. More than that, it's promising full mod support across all platforms, which means we could be in for an ever-expanding car and track list.
Published by Giants, the custodian of the fantastically fastidious Farming Simulator series, Project Motor Racing is using that same modding infrastructure used by Farming Sim . 'Racing modders will be able to tweak, tune, and transform their experience however they like,' said Boris Stefan, CSO & publishing head at Giants.

We were impressed when we recently went hands-on with Project Motor Racing . The prototypes and GT cars felt lively, convincingly skittish, just the right amount of scary, and there's some recognisable DNA in there from the under-appreciated Project CARS 2 , still one of our favourite automotive sandboxes despite being released in 2017.
But what we didn't sample at the time was the career mode, which has now been mentioned in (slightly) more detail than in Straight4 Studios' previous comms. For starters, this new trailer shows career gameplay in action. You might like
Game design director Austin Ogonoski said: 'We wanted to capture the harsh reality of pro motorsport: Budgets. Repairs. Sponsors. Failed overtakes that don't just wreck your car but your whole season… Your career in Project Motor Racing is motorsport with consequences.'
Interesting. It's rare for racing games to make you really live with your mistakes, in the F1 25 flashback era. There's certainly something compelling about the idea of writing off your car in one badly judged braking zone.

Mercedes EVs will get several thousands of dollars cheaper before the automaker breaks on EV production Mercedes-Benz brought the EQS to market in 2021. Since then, it's been plagued by lukewarm critical reception and less-than-remarkable sales figures. The vehicle was the Stuttgart-based automaker's first foray into mainstream EVs. More importantly, its arrival harkened Benz's dramatic shift towards electrifying all the things. Both decisions might have been a bit premature, and fast-forwarding to today, we see the pendulum swinging the other way. Not only are Mercedes EQ vehicles getting a lot less pricey, but they're also going on a brief vacation. First, pricing. Information originally leaked via a dealer employee on TikTok. Still, it was later confirmed by the automaker via Motor1 that almost anything with an EQ badge is getting a hefty price cut for the 2026 model year. The 2026 Mercedes-Benz EQE sedan is now available starting at $66,100, a $9,950 reduction. The EQS sedan sees a decidedly less dramatic trim, shedding $4,150 and still starting just over six figures. Meanwhile, electrified SUVs see substantial slashes. The 2026 EQE SUV drops by $12,950, now commanding $66,100, and the range-topping EQS SUV sees the most significant drop of all. Its new MSRP of $91,100 is a tremendous $15,300 less than what the 2025 model year vehicle retailed for. The only Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicle left unscathed is the compact EQB SUV, which was already the entry-level model at $53,050. Price cuts come around the same time that Mercedes is closing the EQ order banks for US customers While price cuts are good news for anyone who's been in the market for an EQ and holding out, there's a bit more to the story. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed to InsideEVs that EQ production will come to a halt in the US on September 1st. In fact, order banks have already closed for US customers, according to the automaker. That means if you are in the market, you're likely stuck with whatever the dealer has on the lot or is about to arrive. Of course, US EV tax rebates are set to expire at the end of September, and frankly, we don't believe in a coincidence at that scale. The sad and ironic thing is that, aside from EV rebates, the EQ lineup becomes immediately much more competitive with a price drop. At around $90,000, the EQS SUV is a direct rival to the lauded BMW iX, offering a similar range, slightly less power, and more standard luxury features, including ventilated seats and rear seat pillows. The EQE Sedan now costs less than its direct competitor, the BMW i5. Simultaneously, the base car offers more torque and range than the standard i5. If Merc manages to keep the production pause short, we could start to see sales rise. Of course, all this is likely to tank prices on the secondhand market even further, so you might do even better there. Final thoughts While most Mercedes EQ models aren't particularly loved — blame their bulbous styling and overreliance on technology — a price drop might be just what the cars needed to get their footing in the market. It's unfortunate that it comes at a time when the path forward for electrification is murkier than ever. Assuming the EV market doesn't completely evaporate with the tax incentives, we can see the car selling better into 2026 as Mercedes supplements its electrified lineup with cars like the EV GLC and CLA. Already, the company set a new record for American cars at the Nürburgring with the Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X. Its latest record won't be as exciting for gearheads, as it involves the longest range on a full charge for an EV, but it's another stellar technical achievement. 300 miles is generally accepted as the psychological mark of a useful EV range, but Lucid far surpassed this by hitting 749 miles in the Air sedan last month—a record at the time. Chevy has now crushed that figure, and even more impressively, it pulled off the feat with a heavy, full-size pickup, not an aerodynamic sedan. Over 1,000 Miles On A Full Charge Source: GM The record-breaking achievement came behind the wheel of a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Max Range Work Truck, which went 1,059.2 miles on a full charge, breaking Lucid's 749-mile record. This truck is rated by the EPA for a 493 mile range, so how was it able to more than double that figure? GM says the record attempt began with a casual conversation between GM engineers late last year. They started guessing what sort of range they could achieve if the pickup could be optimized for range and efficiency. Source: GM 'Getting this kind of range on a full charge doesn't happen by accident,' said Kurt Kelty, VP, battery, propulsion, and sustainability. 'It takes deep integration across battery chemistry, drive unit efficiency, software and vehicle engineering—and that's exactly what the team delivered. Real-World Test Sees Staggering Results Source: GM The GM team performed the record-breaking test on public roads in southeastern Michigan, close to GM's Milford Proving Ground. The team optimized every feasible aspect of the truck, but left the hardware and software as is. While it's technically possible for owners of the truck to put some of these optimizing measures in place, combining them all will be just about impossible in normal driving. These were the measures taken by the team: When conditions allowed, drivers averaged 20 to 25 mph, and hard braking was minimized No passengers were in the truck for most of the test Windshield wiper arms were set to the lowest possible position, reducing drag The highest acceptable tire pressure was used, resulting in lower rolling resistance The wheel alignment was optimized and the spare tire was removed The climate control wasn't used at all For smoother airflow, an accessory tonneau cover was added The test occurred in warmer summer conditions None of these measures are particularly groundbreaking, but the cumulative effect clearly made all the difference. The various engineers who drove the truck did so in one-hour shifts, allowing them to incorporate the project into their normal work schedules. Source: GM 'If we drove it downhill the whole time, sure, we'd get insane mileage,' said Jon Doremus, propulsion calibration engineering manager. 'But that's not what this was about. We wanted this to be real, on public roads.' The test suggests that by incorporating just a few of these measures, owners of this Chevy pickup should easily be able to squeeze over 500 miles of range from it, a commendable effort. Electric car grants and discounts round up – Citroen first to get grants, while Vauxhall and Fiat are the latest with discounts
Citroen is the first car maker to offer discounts on its electric car range as part of the official government Electric Car Grants that were announced three weeks ago, with the eligible Citroen models now showing on the official government website as being available with grant money applied to the list price. Models including the Citroën e-C3, e-C4, e-C4 X and e-Berlingo are getting £1,500 off with immediate effect, with customers automatically benefiting from the discounts without having to do any paperwork. The upcoming e-C3 Aircross and e-C5 Aircross models are also set to get the same £1,500 discounts when they go on sale in the coming months. The first official discounts come three weeks after the government's announcement of the Electric Car Grant, and as news broke of a drop in car sales. Overall car sales were down five per cent in July, while there was a clear slow down in the rate of growth of EV sales. It had been expected that there would be a pause in electric car sales as buyers waited to see which cars would be eligible for discounts and which cars wouldn't. One car company executive, speaking anonymously to The Independent, confirmed that dealers were reporting customers cancelling orders until it was clear which cars were and which cars weren't eligible for grants.. The electric car grant was announced on Monday 14 July and went live on Wednesday 16 July. Car makers must apply for the grants, which are available on EVs up to the price of £37,000 and where car makers have signed up to low-carbon 'science-based targets' around manufacturing. Grants of between £1,500 and £3,750 will be available for eligible cars. While the announcement of the EV grant has been broadly welcomed by car makers, it took many of them by surprise, with some learning about the government plan via the media. As car companies grapple with the process involved in getting approval for the grants, many of them have introduced their own discount schemes to incentivise customers to keep buying their electric cars. The latest discounts come from Vauxhall and Fiat – fellow Stellantis brands to Citroen. Vauxhall is offering £1,500 off its entire range of Corsa, Frontera, Mokka, Grandland, Astra and Astra Sports Tourer, with additional benefits including up to £1,500 deposit contribution on zero per cent finance on some models, or a £2,500 deposit contribution towards finance on the Grandland. Vauxhall's 'Electric All In' offer of £500 towards a home charger or public charging also still stands. Fiat is offering £1,500 off its 500e, Fiat 600e, Abarth 500e and Abarth 600e all-electric models, with zero per cent finance still available on the 500e. Volkswagen Group brands VW, Skoda and Cupra have launched a 'Grant Guarantee' discount scheme while waiting for news from the government. VW is offering £1,500 off selected ID. 3 and ID. 4 all-electric models. 'We welcomed the Government's announcement of its Electric Car Grant and wanted to make sure customers could start benefitting from lower-cost electric motoring as quickly as possible. We have already seen an uplift in enquiries since the Government's grant was announced, which is great news for Volkswagen's electrification plans,' said Rod McLeod, Director of Volkswagen UK. Skoda is offering the same £1,500 discount across its Elroq and Enyaq model range, but not the Enyaq Coupe, while Cupra is offering £1,500 off many of its Cupra Born models. VW, Skoda and Cupra offers apply to cars bought during August and registered for the new 75 registration plate with deliveries starting on September 1. However, VW, Skoda and Cupra have all made it clear that if the government's EV grant comes through, the brands' Grant Guarantee scheme will end – customers won't be able to receive both. Last week, Volvo introduced a discount in lieu of any government grant, with £1,500 off any of the brand's EX30 electric models, even those that cost over the £37,000 limit. Smart also offered its own 'EV grant' with £1,500 off the whole range of Smart #1 and #3, in addition to existing incentives. That means you could save a total of £3,500 off a Smart #1, for example. Hyundai has its own electric grant, with the biggest discount available on Hyundai's smallest model. The Hyundai Inster – recently voted World Electric Car of the Year – gets a £3,750 'grant' bringing the entry-level car's price down to £19,755. There's still an additional £500 off if you go for Hyundai's low-rate PCP finance, too. The rest of the Hyundai electric car range, including models over £37,000, are also getting a £1,500 discount as part of the offer. Buyers of Chinese-made EVs were also left to reconsider their purchases with news that the government wasn't expecting those models to be eligible for the Electric Car Grant. Speaking on Radio Four, Minister for the Future of Roads, Lilian Greenwood, said: 'We don't expect any cars that are assembled in China to be eligible for this scheme. 'The grant is restricted to those manufacturers that reach minimum environmental standards. And, frankly, if you generate a lot of the electricity that powers your factory through coal power stations, then you are not going to be able to access this grant." The Department for Transport told The Independent: 'We expect dozens of models will be eligible but manufacturers will need to apply for the grant before we can confirm eligibility. We have held multiple calls with vehicle manufacturers to explain vehicle eligibility and how to apply for the grant. These discussions will continue to ensure manufacturers have all the information they need. 'All eligible models will be published on once the application has been approved. Applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis and as quickly as possible.' Chinese car brands have been quick to react by introducing their own 'EV grants' to stimulate demand among private buyers. Leapmotor was first out of the blocks with its Leap Grant, offering £1,500 off the Leapmotor T03, making it Britain's cheapest car at £14,495, while the Leapmotor C10 family SUV gets a £3,750 discount, taking the price down to £32,750. MG followed with its own EV grant, offering a discount of £1,500 off the MG4 and MGS5 EVs on top of existing offers, while another Chinese brand, GWM, has taken the full £3,750 off its GWM ORA 03 models with its Green Grant, bringing the starting price down to £21,245. Relatively unknown Chinese brand Skywell is also throwing its own EV grant of £3,750 on top of a £6,000 dealer deposit contribution if you buy the Skywell BE11 on finance. That brings the potential list price down to just £27,245 for the entry-level car. The BE11 is far from the best EV you can buy, but at that price it represents a lot of car for the money. It's not just Chinese brands applying discounts, though. Alfa Romeo is offering £1,500 off its Alfa Junior Elettrica range, on top of existing zero per cent finance offers and the promise of a free EV home charger with standard installation.
