Collector calls for action plan to address sanitation, drinking water, and fodder crisis in Annamayya district

District Collector Sridhar Chamakuri on Saturday called for the strict implementation of sanitation programmes in Annamayya district, while on an inspection of the villages in Peddamandyam mandal.
Interacting with the villagers, the Collector highlighted that 'complete health begins with cleanliness.' He instructed the panchayat officials to clear garbage dumps along the roadsides and initiate daily waste collection, focusing on mandatory segregation of wet, dry, and plastic waste.
Inspecting the dumpyard at Peddamandyam, Mr. Sridhar criticised the poor waste management and cautioned the officials to rectify the issues immediately.
Later, at a review meeting, the Collector directed the officials to prioritise sanitation infrastructure as per the norms of the 'Brindavanam' initiative. He said that the officials and field staff neglecting their duties would face strict action.
Referring to the drinking water and fodder crisis in the district, the Collector instructed the officials of Rural Water Works and Animal Husbandry departments to prepare an action plan to overcome the issues in the coming weeks in view of the rising temperatures at several places in the district. The Collector further directed the officials concerned to intensify efforts to go in for fodder cultivation and identify the land immediately.
During a review meeting with the officials of the Agriculture and Horticulture departments, the Collector was appraised of the crop patterns in the district. The officials said that mango cultivation was spread over 785 acres and tomatoes across 553 acres at present.
The Collector also reviewed the progress of the housing projects in the district, directing the officials to speed up the construction activity, for which additional funding would be provided. Mr. Sridhar also made a surprise inspection of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the mandal, and checked the staff attendance and medicine stocks.

Gadwal: As part of the Telangana State Government's prestigious 100-Day Action Plan, a health check-up camp was organized at the Aija Municipal Office in Jogulamba Gadwal district. This initiative was spearheaded by Municipal Commissioner CH Saidulu, in coordination with Medical Officer Dr. Kiran Kumar. Addressing the occasion, Commissioner Mr. Saidulu emphasized that the Telangana government is implementing the 100-Day Plan with a strong focus on welfare and health across departments. He announced that every Friday, a health camp will be conducted within the municipal office premises, exclusively for sanitation workers, water supply staff, electrical department employees, revenue staff, and other municipal officers. The camp includes basic health screenings such as blood pressure (BP) and blood sugar (diabetes) tests. The Commissioner also mentioned that those already diagnosed with conditions such as hypertension or diabetes will be provided with necessary medications, and if required, will be referred to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) for further lab testing and consultation. The event witnessed active participation from key personnel, including: Lakshanna, Senior Municipal Assistant, Vijay, Junior Assistant, Srinivasulu, Supervisor from, the Primary Health Centre, Obulesh, PHC staff, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) Other municipal officers and staff members. This initiative is seen as a step toward promoting the health and well-being of municipal workers who are the backbone of public service delivery. The weekly check-ups are expected to help in early detection of health issues and ensure timely medical intervention, thus enhancing the overall productivity and welfare of the staff.

District Collector Sridhar Chamakuri inaugurated an impressive yoga camp at BT College Grounds on Wednesday. Over 5,000 yoga enthusiasts from across the Annamayya district attended the camp. The event was held under the government's flagship initiative, 'Yogandhra.' Addressing the participants, the Collector said that integrating yoga into daily life helps protect one's health, but it also guides a person to adopt a disciplined regime in social, personal, and professional life. 'Make yoga a regular part of your daily routine. It not only boosts the physical stamina of the practitioner but also sharpens mental clarity,' the Collector said. Highlighting the increase in lifestyle diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and various disorders due to a lack of physical activity. The Collector said: 'The world is advancing rapidly, and our dietary habits are deteriorating. We need to incorporate fitness into our daily regime, be it yoga, walking, any sport, or a game.' Referring to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Collector stressed the importance of maintaining strong immunity. He asked senior citizens and women to visit the public parks in Madanapalle for morning walks and yoga. He instructed the local police to create safe environs for morning walkers, particularly women. 'If necessary, we can even create separate grounds for women,' he said. The Collector congratulated Joint Collector Adarsh Rajendran, Sub Collector Megha Swaroop, and the HoDs of various departments for meticulous planning and execution of the event.

Pawar promises agricultural status for animal husbandry

Maharashtra deputy chief minister and guardian minister of Pune, Ajit Pawar, announced that the Maharashtra government is considering granting agricultural status to animal husbandry to ensure livestock farmers receive the same facilities and subsidies as those in the farming sector. He was speaking during the inauguration of three major veterinary facilities under the animal husbandry department in Aundh, Pune — the biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) and level 3 (BSL-3) laboratories, the national reference vaccine testing and quality control laboratory, and the super speciality veterinary hospital. The inauguration event was held on Saturday, during which Animal Husbandry minister, Pankaja Munde; Goseva aayog chairman Shekhar Mundada; MLA Uma Khapre; department secretary Dr Ramaswamy N; commissioner Dr Pravin Kumar Deore and additional commissioner Dr Sheetalkumar Mukane were present. The dignitaries toured the facilities, and later the GMP certification was formally unveiled. Pawar expressed confidence that these new facilities will significantly contribute to improving animal health and increasing productivity and income for farmers. 'The state government has spent around ₹86 crore to set up these advanced infrastructures — a first in the country in terms of scale and quality. There will be no shortage of funds for animal husbandry schemes,' he assured. Pawar, said, 'Maharashtra leads in many animal husbandry areas, the state still ranks sixth or seventh in poultry and egg production'. He emphasized the need to support farmers with more facilities and incentives to enhance their earnings. Besides, Pawar also highlighted the importance of research and vaccine development in controlling diseases that spread from animals to humans. Transparent transfers boost officer morale: Munde Animal Husbandry minister, Pankaja Munde stated that about 560 transfers were carried out through counselling, with nearly 99% of officers receiving postings of their choice, boosting morale and satisfaction. She stressed the need to give animal husbandry the status of agriculture and warned about the harmful effects of plastic consumption by cattle, especially on children through milk contamination. She also mentioned that the department is working on tightening laws against milk adulteration. 'In the 100-day action plan, our department has ranked first across all performance parameters,' she said. Secretary Dr Ramaswamy N noted that the new laboratories and hospital will benefit not only Maharashtra but also neighbouring states like Gujarat, Goa, and Daman & Diu. He added that the GMP certification will enhance the credibility and demand for vaccines produced here.
