Taylor Swift's Albums Return To The Charts — And A Surge Is Coming

Forbes2 days ago

On Friday (May 30), Taylor Swift announced to the world that she has finally purchased the rights to the master recordings of her first six albums. The news was heralded as a triumph for the singer-songwriter, who has long been engaged in a public spat with various companies — and most notably supermanager Scooter Braun — to gain control over the work that made her a global superstar.
Even before her revelation, Swift's catalog was growing in popularity thanks to anticipation surrounding a project that may never see the light of day — one fans have been eager to hear. The musician was expected to announce Reputation (Taylor's Version) at the American Music Awards – at least according to Swifties – but that didn't come to pass. Still, the mere thought of her giving the project a street date was enough to help several of her collections climb the Billboard charts. This week, multiple Swift projects return to different rankings as interest in her work grows yet again.
Two of Swift's full-lengths reappear on Billboard rankings in the United States. While the pair of titles don't experience any crossover success, consumption grew enough to bring them back to the lower reaches of one tally apiece.
The higher-ranking of the two is Lover, which finds its way back to the Top Streaming Albums chart. That tally, which ranks only the studio efforts that collect the most plays on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and others, sees the 2019 pure pop set reenter at No. 48.
Fearless (Taylor's Version) is a winner once again on the Top Country Albums chart. The re-recorded and re-released take on Fearless lands in last place, at No. 50, on Billboard's ranking of the most consumed country-only efforts in the nation.
Lover also finds space on the Billboard 200, where it ranks as Swift's second-highest rising at the moment title out of seven placements. Fearless (Taylor's Version), which previously conquered that ranking, doesn't manage to perform well enough to earn a spot on the tally this time.
Nine of Swift's albums appear on at least one Billboard chart this week. Seven of them live on the Billboard 200, a handful place on the Top Country Albums ranking, and just one also finds space on both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Alternative Albums tallies. Multiple collections performed well enough to live on the Top Streaming Albums roster.
Next week will likely be huge for the singer-songwriter, as sales and streams of all six of her earliest works have skyrocketed in the days following her major announcement.

Spotify Technology (NYSE:SPOT) Reports Sales Growth to €4.2 Billion

Spotify Technology saw its share price rise by nearly 34% over the last quarter. The major catalyst was the company's announcement of strong first-quarter earnings, reporting sales growth to EUR 4.19 billion and an increase in net income and earnings per share. This positive financial performance reinforced investor sentiment amidst robust market conditions, where major indices such as the S&P 500 have also posted gains. Spotify's confirmed revenue guidance for the upcoming quarter aligned well with overall market optimism, further supporting its share price growth, while its stagnant buyback activity had little effect on counterbalancing these upward movements. See the full list for free. The recent announcement of Spotify Technology's strong first-quarter earnings, reflecting sales growth to €4.19 billion, has reinforced its positive growth narrative. This signals potential revenue expansion as subscription growth in markets like Latin America and Asia Pacific continues. The company's focus on enhancing user engagement through AI, new monetization systems, and scaling product features could further bolster its earnings potential amid current market optimism. Over the longer term, Spotify's total shareholder return reached a very large value of 536.84% over three years, reflecting steady growth and investor confidence. When comparing its performance to the broader market or the entertainment industry over the last year, Spotify's one-year return exceeded the US Entertainment industry's return of 62% and surpassed the US Market's 11% return. This underscores its strength in navigating challenging market conditions. The positive market sentiment and strong financial performance could influence revenue and earnings forecasts. Analysts project substantial annual earnings growth of 25.4% over the next three years. The share price increase, in context to the consensus price target of US$666.48, suggests room for potential growth given the current share price of US$576.94 being 13.4% below the target. However, variance in analyst projections indicates varying expectations, emphasizing the importance of personal analysis aligned with individual expectations. Kwanza Jones Introduces Inaugural Innovator Award Honoring Teyana Taylor at Historic Apollo Spring Benefit

This year, SUPERCHARGED® CEO Kwanza Jones returns as an Apollo Board Member and Premier Sponsor through her and her husband's Kwanza Jones & José E. Feliciano Initiative to present The Apollo's first-ever Innovator Award! NEW YORK, June 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- At a landmark moment in The Apollo Theater's nearly century-long history, Kwanza Jones, nine-time Billboard-charting music artist, impact investor, and philanthropist, took the stage at the 2025 Apollo Spring Benefit to introduce the first-ever Innovator Award and its honoree, fellow multi-hyphenate Teyana Taylor. This year's Benefit wasn't just a celebration, it was a turning point. As the final Spring Benefit to be held in the current Apollo Theater before its first full-scale renovation in nearly a century, the evening marked the start of a bold new chapter. Jones helped ground that moment through her on-stage remarks, championing The Apollo's role as a space for transformation and spotlighting the power of mindset, voice, and community. She called The Apollo "a place where culture is created, always imitated, never duplicated," and underscored its role as a space for self-expression and bold imagination. Her words laid the foundation for a new tradition, positioning the Innovator Award as both a celebration of fearless artistry and a call to action for collective impact. The Innovator Award, introduced this year by The Apollo, honors artists who break boundaries and shape culture across disciplines. Teyana Taylor, a Harlem native, was recognized for her fearless creative evolution as a performer, director, and artistic visionary who embodies the trailblazing spirit of The Apollo. Jones, whose work also spans the intersections of art, impact, and innovation, brought meaningful resonance to the moment by introducing the Innovator Award and honoring Taylor's multifaceted contributions. Jones stepped out in a show-stopping ensemble styled by Jones herself, wearing a striking Alexander McQueen dress paired with accessories by Stephen Jones and her Kwanza Jones monogram pins. Her bold style echoed the evening's theme of fearless creativity and cultural expression. Following her introduction, Jones returned to the stage alongside fashion icon Dapper Dan, a Harlem native, and actress and comedian Sherri Shepherd to present the Innovator Award to Teyana Taylor, honoring her fearless artistic evolution and cultural impact. As a Board Member and Premier Sponsor through the Kwanza Jones & José E. Feliciano Initiative, Jones has played a key role in shaping The Apollo's strategy and long-term vision, particularly as the institution prepares for a major transformation and looks ahead to its 100th anniversary in 2034. This decade-forward mindset reflects what Jones calls "Dreaming in Decades," a philosophy grounded in long-term planning, strategic action, and sustained commitment. It mirrors The Apollo's own approach as it prepares for renovation and expansion, ensuring the institution continues to thrive as a hub for culture, creativity, and community for generations to come. Through her work across culture, capital, and community, Jones continues to embody The Apollo's mission and extend its legacy, not only through sponsorship and service, but through her voice, her vision, and her values. In addition to the Innovator Award, the evening also celebrated the legendary Clive Davis, who received the Legacy Award and was inducted into The Apollo's iconic Walk of Fame. The honor recognized Davis' decades-long impact on the music industry and his role in shaping the careers of groundbreaking artists. His recognition underscored The Apollo's deep history and its ongoing commitment to honoring those who have shaped the cultural landscape. As the curtain closes on one chapter and a new one begins, the 2025 Apollo Spring Benefit stands as a testament to the power of leadership, collaboration, and culture to spark transformation.
