Rich Tettemer to Retire from WWLP in Massachusetts After 37 Years

WWLP anchor Rich Tettemer is retiring after 37 years at the Springfield, Massachusetts NBC affiliate.
He started his career as a videotape editor at WFLA in Tampa, Florida in 1984 and went on to become a weekend sports anchor at KODE in Joplin, Missouri.
Tettemer joined WWLP on Patriots Day, April 18, 1988 with the with both the Boston Marathon and the Red Sox morning game.
He was named a morning anchor on October 16, 2006, after 18 and a half years on the sports desk and has been the morning news anchor for another 18 and a half years.
Below, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, along with his colleagues said goodbye to Tettemer.
Tettemer will be replaced by reporter Julia O'Keefe. She'll join Kaelee Collins on Monday.
Last week, weather reporter Jack Wu said he was leaving the station for a job in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Two games on the Detroit Pistons' 2025-26 regular season schedule were announced on Tuesday, August 12. They will host the Cleveland Cavaliers a 7 p.m. on Oct. 27, leading off Peacock's exclusive slate of Monday national TV games next season. It's the first half of a double-header, with the Minnesota Timberwolves hosting the Denver Nuggets afterward at 9:30 p.m. The games were part of special dates released by the NBA prior to its full schedule release in the coming days. More: What Javonte Green will bring to Detroit Pistons The Pistons also will conclude a slate of four Martin Luther King Jr. Day games, hosting the Boston Celtics on Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. on Peacock and NBC. It's the Pistons' first MLK Day home game since 2018. The holiday will lead off with the Atlanta Hawks hosting the Milwaukee Bucks at 1 p.m., followed by the Cavaliers hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder at 2:30 p.m. before the Dallas Mavericks head to New York to face the Knicks at 5:30 p.m. All four games will air on Peacock, and every game except Hawks vs. Bucks will also air on NBC. The regular season will tip off with an Oct. 21 doubleheader, with the Thunder hosting the Houston Rockets at 7:30 p.m. and the Los Angeles Lakers playing a home game against the Golden State Warriors afterward at 10 p.m. The Pistons will tip off their four-game preseason on the road against the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 6, and will also face the Bucks on the road Oct. 9, Cavaliers on the road Oct. 14 and the Washington Wizards at home Oct. 16. The latter two games will both be at 7 p.m. Eastern, and the Grizzlies game is scheduled for 8 p.m. the time of the Pistons-Bucks game is TBD. The Celtics' entire 2025-2026 NBA regular season schedule won't be officially released until Thursday, but several games have already been revealed. Two primetime match-ups have already been revealed: an Opening Week game on Amazon Prime, and one match-up on Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Friday, October 24th: Celtics at New York Knicks at 7:30pm ET on Prime Monday, January 19th: Celtics at Detroit Pistons at 8pm ET on NBC In addition, the team's NBA Cup schedule has been released: October 31st: Celtics at Philadelphia 76ers at 7pm ET on NBC November 7th: Celtics at Orlando Magic at 7pm ET on NBC November 21st: Celtics vs Brooklyn Nets at 7:30pm ET on NBC November 26th: Celtics vs Pistons at 5pm ET on NBC It's also already been revealed that the Celtics won't play on Opening Night or on Christmas Day. It's their first time not playing on a Christmas Day game since 2015. The rest of the Celtics' schedule will be out on Thursday.
