Among those looking to return is former Los Angeles Lakers guard Patrick Beverley, who spent last season playing in Israel for Hapoel Tel Aviv. In a post on X, Beverley responded to a fan who encouraged him to join the Charlotte Hornets, and announced his decision to attempt an NBA comeback.
'Looking at all options as we speak," he said. "we def going back to NBA next season 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️"

Beverley last played in the league during the 2023-24 season, appearing in 73 games across stints with the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks. Known for his perimeter defense and vocal leadership, he also spent time with the Lakers during the 2022-23 season before being traded midyear.
Over his career, Beverley has played 666 games, averaging 8.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists across 12 NBA seasons. His experience, particularly in high-pressure playoff situations, could make him a target for teams seeking veteran toughness and backcourt depth.
With training camps approaching, Beverley's status will be one to monitor as rosters begin to take shape.

Nazeeh Johnson happy to be focused on defense rather than recovery
In the early days of the Kansas City Chiefs' 2023 training camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, second-year cornerback Nazeeh Johnson — who had been limited to special teams during his rookie season — was turning heads and drawing rave reviews for his work on defense. Unfortunately, the former Marshall defender suffered a torn ACL during an indoor camp practice, ending his second campaign before it started. While he returned to play in 16 games (including six starts) in 2024, he seemed to be a shell of his former self as he adjusted to playing on a surgically repaired knee. Now, however, Johnson is back to 100%. 'I feel completely different,' he declared, shortly after finishing Wednesday's practice in the building where his 2022 season ended. 'I feel like how I did entering Year 2. I don't even think about my knee. Last year I was dealing with my knee swelling here and there; it just lingered on during the season. But now, it's healthy. I feel normal. I actually feel better than I did prior to my injury.' But Johnson's recovery from a major injury wasn't his only learning experience of the season. During his days with the Thundering Herd, Johnson had played safety. But in 2024, the Chiefs moved him outside to cornerback. He now understands that last year, he was still learning the nuances of the position. 'Personally,' Johnson explained, 'I feel like last year was just a baseline. Granted, it was my first year ever playing corner in the NFL — or even in the game. Then, coming off the ACL as well, there was a lot of stuff going on. [So] I like to look at it as a baseline. I can only get better from there.' Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and his position coaches offered Johnson some encouragement after his first season back. 'They just challenged me,' Johnson recalled. 'They were like, 'We need that dog back. Stop worrying about messing up. Be bold, and be great.' So I just took that in the offseason and just challenged myself. Why not me?' With a strong group competing to fill Kansas City's secondary, Johnson knows that versatility will play a major role in his playing time — because in team meetings, Spagnuolo has focused on having cornerbacks who can line up at multiple positions. 'He's going to interchange us depending on personnel packages and stuff like that,' said Johnson, 'so all of us [need to know] the different roles — from nickel to left [and] right corner. Everything changes, but Spags is a mastermind at that; it's hard for teams to really get a gauge on who is going to be playing where.' As Johnson prepares for his fourth season, he and his fellow corners have had the unenviable responsibility of covering Kansas City's wide receivers, who seem to be making big plays in every video clip coming out of St. Joseph. He'll be happy to pass the responsibility of covering speedsters like Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown — and camp darling Tyquan Thornton — to opposing teams. 'They're fast,' he confirmed. 'Every time you see somebody going deep, we're always in somewhat [of] a trail position because they're just so fast to get off the line. [There's] one thing about our receivers: they catch those deep balls down the field. They're going to give a lot of people headaches, because they've just got speed all over the place. [There's] Worthy [and] Hollywood. And then you've got Thornton, who's going crazy right now. It's just speed, so I say, 'Everybody just warm up your hammies,' because it's crazy.'

Will Hernandez signs with Cardinals
Veteran guard Will Hernandez is headed back to Arizona. The Cardinals announced that they have signed Hernandez on Thursday. Hernandez spent the last three seasons with the team. Hernandez tore his ACL during the 2024 season and recently announced that he's been fully cleared to return to action. He will still start his time at Cardinals camp on the team's physically unable to perform list. Isaiah Brown closed out last season as the right guard for the Cardinals and has been working with the first team this summer as well. Evan Brown is the team's incumbent left guard. Cornerback Keni-H Lovely was waived to make room for Hernandez on the roster.

Steelers DT Cam Heyward seeking raise, hasn't fully participated in training camp practice: Report
The Pittsburgh Steelers made edge rusher T.J. Watt the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history with a three-year, $123 million extension last month. But there's another Steelers All-Pro who's looking for a raise. Defensive tackle Cam Heyward hasn't fully participated in practice yet during training camp, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, who reported Thursday that the 36-year-old Heyward wants a restructured deal that reflects the reset market for defensive players in the league. At the moment, Heyward is on track to be the NFL's 36th highest-paid defensive lineman, and 18th highest-paid defensive tackle, this season, per ESPN. The 2023 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year has two years left on his Steelers extension, which he signed last September. He's due to make $14.75 million this season, according to ESPN. Schefter reported Thursday that, although Heyward and the Steelers have discussed the matter privately, the two sides haven't made progress on a restructured deal. Heyward is coming off a bounce-back 2024 campaign, during which he earned his fourth first-team All-Pro honor of his career, which started with the Steelers drafting him No. 31 overall in the 2011 draft. The Ohio State product, who has made five total All-Pro teams and seven Pro Bowls during his soon-to-be 15-year career, started all 17 games in 2024. He recorded a career-high 11 passes defended last season, in addition to tallying 71 total tackles, 12 TFLs and 8 sacks. Recently-extended general manager Omar Khan has been busy this offseason revamping a roster the Steelers hope ends their eight-season drought without a playoff win. Pittsburgh traded with the Seattle Seahawks for wide receiver DK Metcalf, whom the Steelers then gave a four-year, $132 million extension. The Steelers also traded for cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith, both formerly with the Miami Dolphins, and gave a raise to Ramsey while signing Smith to a one-year extension. In addition to breaking the bank to keep Watt around, Khan inked 41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a one-year, $13 million contract. And, yet, it seems like the fourth-year Steelers GM still has paperwork on his plate. Not only is Heyward looking for a new deal, but so is kicker Chris Boswell, according to Schefter's latest report.
