Johor seeks return of unused land to build more affordable homes
Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the state is currently looking at a plot of land in Kempas, which is owned by the Health Ministry.
'For the rakyat to own Johor Affordable Housing Scheme (RMMJ) homes, we have to come up with out-of-the-box solutions.
'If the ministry is not using (the land), return it to the state government so we can develop RMMJ units for the rakyat,' he said before presenting RMMJ ownership certificates to homeowners at the Taman Bukit Indah hall here on Friday (June 13).
Aside from collaborating with Putrajaya, Onn Hafiz said the state would also work with the developers and state agencies such as the Johor Islamic Religious Council to develop more RMMJ units.
He stressed that there was a pressing need for affordable homes, as the state government has received more than 85,000 RMMJ applications so far.
He said the state would keep to its promise of delivering 100,000 RMMJ units by 2030.
'We have already completed 10 RMMJ projects and we expect to see the completion of more RMMJ developments in Iskandar Puteri, Tebrau, Kulai, Batu Pahat, Kluang and Segamat this year and next year,' he added.

In the same post, Onn Hafiz also shared that he met with Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo to discuss the direction of the state's digital development at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur today.
