Atletico Madrid star and his wife share conspiracy theories about Spain's blackouts after being left trapped in a tunnel on a train
Atletico Madrid star Marcos Llorente and his wife have taken to social media to give their take on the blackouts in Spain that affected their travel plans on Monday.
Spain, Portugal and parts of France experienced a massive power outage for several hours on Monday.
Llorente had spent the weekend in Marbella with his wife, Patricia Noarbe, and their daughter, Amor, and the trio were on their way back to Madrid when their train became trapped in a tunnel near Cordoba due to the blackouts.
They subsequently got off the train and walked with their luggage alongside the tracks, and Llorente posted their alternative journey on Instagram alongside the message: 'Life happens and "conspiracies" become reality.'
His post did not go down too well with some fans on Instagram, but Llorente doubled down as he followed up writing: 'In a world of madmen, it's the sane man who's called mad.'
Llorente's wife also appeared curious as to the cause of the blackouts as she uploaded her own controversial message on Instagram.
She appeared to strongly suggest to her followers that geoengineering - the emerging technology that can manipulate the environment to manage the effects of climate change - was behind the power outage.
Alongside an image of the sky with contrails - the thin, white lines left behind by aircrafts - Noarbe wrote: 'And how many flights do you hear today...'
She added: 'If you continue to think that this is condensation from commercial aircraft instead of geoengineering, it is because you do not want to look at the sky, or the BOE/AEMET or the WMO...'
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has not given the reason for the blackouts yet, but admitted 'this can never happen again'.
However, Spanish authorities have ruled out the possibility that a cyberattack led to the power outage.
The blackouts led to the tennis at the Madrid Open being brought to a premature end on Monday.
However, play resumed as normal on Tuesday after power returned across Spain.

Free FIFA World Cup watch parties are coming to the World Trade Center
Fútbol fans, rejoice: You don't need a ticket to the Club World Cup or a cross-country flight to feel like you're in the center of the action. Starting Saturday, June 28, and running through Sunday, July 13, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is turning the World Trade Center campus into a hub for free FIFA Club World Cup watch parties—yes, completely free. Presented in partnership with the New York Red Bulls and FIFA itself, the viewings will take place outdoors on the North Oculus Plaza, with games streamed live on a giant screen. The viewing schedule kicks off with the Round of 16 and continues all the way through the final, so you'll get to catch elite international club matchups—think Manchester City, Real Madrid, Palmeiras and Inter Miami CF (Messi alert)—without ever leaving Lower Manhattan. It's the first expanded 32-team edition of the tournament, so expect drama, surprise upsets and maybe a few penalty shootouts. To sweeten the deal, the Red Bulls are bringing their BULLevard experience to the plaza, complete with giveaways, games, special appearances and performances. Nearby retailers and the Oculus Beer Garden will also be slinging snacks and drinks for every kind of fan, whether you're in it for the footwork or the refreshments. The events are standing-room only and weather-dependent, so keep an eye on @explorewtc on Instagram for updates. This isn't the first time the World Trade Center has become New York City's sports living room. Past events have included everything from Subway Series watch parties to ICC cricket screenings and Knicks playoffs. And with New York slated to host 2026 World Cup matches, the energy is only building. No RSVP is necessary, but it's recommended if you want to stay in the loop. Just be sure to take public transit—there's no campus parking and PATH and the MTA are your best bet. Let the (free) games begin!

Trent makes underwhelming start to life at Real Madrid at Club World Cup
REAL MADRID 1-1 AL-HILAL: Trent Alexander-Arnold played 64 minutes in his Real Madrid debut but Los Blancos were held by Saudi outfit Al-Hilal thanks to a last-gasp penalty save It was a rather uneventful start to life with Real Madrid for Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Los Blancos new boy didn't really catch the eye in a laboured performance from the Spanish giants in what was Xabi Alonso's first game in charge. They were held to a 1-1 draw by Saudi side Al-Hilal at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami in their Club World Cup opener. That came after Federico Valverde saw a late penalty saved by Yassine Bounou to deny Real a winning start in America. Alexander-Arnold, 26, moved to the La Liga outfit early after they paid Liverpool £10m so he could feature in this competition and he made his debut alongside Dean Huijsen, who joined from Bournemouth. There will be better games to come from the England international once he settles into life with Real after 64 minutes of little action for the right-back before he was replaced by Lucas Vazquez. It was his interception which started the move for Real's opening goal. The move ended with Gonzalo Garcia finding the net following an unorthodox finish in the 34th minute. Their lead lasted just seven minutes before former Wolves man Ruben Neves equalised for Simone Inzaghi's side before the break. Alexander-Arnold had been caught out earlier in the half before a move which Renan Lodi finished for Al-Hilal but the offside flag went up. Neves also put in the corner and Hassan Al Tambakti beat Alexander-Arnold to the header but could not find the target. Alexander-Arnold was looking to ping his trademark long balls from the right-back position and set Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo clear on the left. The now former Liverpool full-back tried to influence Real's attack on the right going forward before he went off but Alonso's side didn't click into top gear. Real still had a chance to win it late on when they got a controversial penalty after a VAR review. Mohammed Al Qahtani was adjudged to have impeded Fran Garcia with a hand to the face but Valverde delivered a poor spot kick.

But the Spanish giants have never firmed up their interest in the 27-year-old. And SunSport can reveal Newcastle are confident they can provide Rashford with an ideal stage to rebuild his career. Toon boss Eddie Howe expects to keep £160million-rated Arsenal target Alexander Isak. READ MORE IN FOOTBALL WILD MOVE Wilder sacked by Blades despite record points tally as ex-Prem boss takes over And far from being a replacement for the 25-year-old Swede, Newcastle see Rashford as an ideal player to rotate him with. It's understood the Magpies fancy a year-long loan deal for the 62-cap star. But Old Trafford chiefs would prefer a permanent exit. And any chance of Rashford slotting back in at United appear slim, even though he is under contract until 2028. 5 His overall Prem stats last season improved after a switch to Villa 5 Rashford appears certain to move on from Old Trafford Credit: AFP The Mancunian netted in Ruben Amorim's first two games in charge last November. Transfers_Exposed EP2_AP_MB SECTION And after dropping out of their matchday squad completely, Rashford joined Villa in January for the rest of the season. He looked to be reviving his fortunes, notching four goals and six assists in 17 games for Unai Emery's men But Rashford is keen on returning to a Champions League platform next term. And ahead of their campaign in Europe's to domestic cup competition, Newcastle need to strengthen up top. Callum Wilson, 33, is being monitored by Everton and Saudi clubs, although he could yet stay at St James' Park. Meanwhile, Chelsea won the £30m race for Ipswich frontman Liam Delap. So a swoop for a player of Rashford's experience - not to mention his desperation to impress ahead of the World Cup - could suit both parties.
