Harry Potter's Tom Felton Says OG Cast Is Still ‘Very Tight'
Tom Felton delighted Harry Potter fans as the actor recently shared new details about his connection with the original cast members. While attending the launch of the new Harry Potter outlet in Chicago, Felton opened up about the group chat with his co-stars from the franchise and revealed what he last sent.
Here's what Felton said about the cast's bond and how the magic of the series continues off-screen.
Tom Felton confirmed that the original Harry Potter cast maintains regular contact. 'In fact I just took a video of the store and sent it to them,' he said, referring to their WhatsApp group. He added, 'Yeah we're all very tight still, very close.'
On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, before the opening of the Harry Potter Shop in Chicago, Felton spoke to PEOPLE. The store is themed after Goblet of Fire and features merchandise, a Butterbeer bar, and references from the films. Felton, now 37, said the space brought him back 'hugely' to his days as Draco Malfoy. He added, 'Not only does seeing the house colors bring me back to being Team Slytherin all the way…but the experience of the store is magical.'
He reminisced about his time filming the series from 2001 to 2011, saying it's 'hard to pick' a favorite moment from the 11 years of making eight films. Holding a replica of his character's wand, he said, 'Lots of hours with this in my hand… so it's kind of cool to see that again. Yeah, many happy memories.'
Felton further noted the difficulty of meeting with other Harry Potter cast members in person due to geographical distance. 'We're usually in four corners of the earth at the same time, so it's difficult to round us all up together.' Despite that, he confirmed, 'Slytherins and Gryffindors are friendly.'
Although the group doesn't seem to have exchanged messages about the upcoming Harry Potter TV reboot, Felton said, 'I think we're all very excited to see the wizarding world continue.' He added, 'I look forward to knocking on young Draco's door and surprising him.'
The release date for HBO's Harry Potter TV series is yet to be announced.

Harry Potter actor talks about shooting DC superhero show in Savannah
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Actor Freddie Stroma's latest role as the unhinged superhero Vigilante in HBO's Peacemaker may not get him recognized on the street much. That's because his costume covers his face for much of his screentime. But once the mask comes off, you may remember him as Cormac McLaggen in the Harry Potter movies or Luke in Pitch Perfect. Stroma was in town for Epic Cons: Savannah Friday to meet and greet fans. But it wasn't his first visit to the Hostess City. Back in November, the cast of Peacemaker was in the Coastal Empire to shoot part of season 2. Star John Cena was spotted at Leopold's Ice cream and director James Gunn stopped by Odin & Sons Comics and Collectibles. When WSAV News 3 caught up with Stroma at Epic Cons: Savannah, we asked him if he was part of the Savannah production. 'I wasn't filming myself, but I came down anyway. It was amazing. I don't think I can say much,but we had a really good time. I think James [Gunn] is quoted as saying it was the best day of filming he's ever had. I had a great time just checking out Savannah. It's beautiful.' Star of Gilmore Girls reminisces about playing baseball in Savannah And while he spoke to WSAV, Stroma said Gunn shot some of the new Superman movie in Savannah as well. WSAV News 3 asked the Savannah Film Commission to confirm, and they told us that some pickup shots for the movie were done here but it's uncertain whether any of them will be in the final cut. Let WSAV know if you see any Savannah shots when the movie premiers on July 11! Stroma wasn't able to divulge any secrets from season 2 of Peacemaker either.
