Veterans return to Scotland for ‘magical' visit to Edinburgh Tattoo
They described the Tattoo as 'the icing on the cake' after seeing the show on Tuesday evening.
The visit was organised after Mr Turrell, who lives in Frinton-on-Sea in Essex, disclosed it was his 'final wish' to return to Scotland, where he had served in the Cameronians, and he vowed to come back next year.
Polish veteran Mr Niedzielski was 'delighted' to watch the Band of the Polish Border Guard, according to organisers.

He served with the 1st Armoured Polish Division, and during the visit spent time with the Polish Community in Edinburgh, and also attended a Catholic Mass and a memorial service to his fallen comrades.
Ms Barron, who served in the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS), returned to the site of her former barracks at Port Edgar, now a housing development and had a tour of Campbeltown, while Mr Turrell visited the Cameronians Museum and the Ben Nevis Distillery.
He said the visit was 'unforgettable', and also described the Tattoo as 'magical'.
Mr Turrell said: 'It was breathtaking – from the stirring opening to the grand finale. When the pipers emerged through the smoke, I thought the procession would never end – it was magical.
'It's been absolutely wonderful – and I'm coming back next year.'
Colin Mills, chairman of the Taxi Charity, said: 'Since 1948, the Taxi Charity has supported thousands of veterans, arranging free trips to the Netherlands and France for acts of commemoration, as well as days out to museums, concerts, and social events across the UK.
'This trip to Scotland was inspired when Don quietly shared with me that his last wish was to return there. We were determined to make it happen – and in doing so, we've not only fulfilled Don's dream, but also the heartfelt wishes of Dorothea and Eugeniusz.'
Dick Goodwin, vice president of the Taxi Charity, said 'This trip has given the veterans the chance to return to places of deep personal meaning from their wartime service – and they've enjoyed every moment.'
He said the Tattoo was 'a celebration of skill, pageantry, and shared history'.
Mr Goodwin said: 'It was a fantastic performance, from the hundreds of pipers, The Band of the Polish Border Guard, that delighted World War Two veteran Eugeniusz Niedzielski, to the precision and daring of the USAF Honor Guard Drill Team, spinning and throwing rifles with bayonets attached.
'The whole evening was a celebration of skill, pageantry, and shared history.
'This trip has given the veterans the chance to return to places of deep personal meaning from their wartime service – and they've enjoyed every moment.'

Kelsey Parker shared an emotional message in memory of her stillborn son Phoenix alongside a photograph of her tattoo. The podcaster, 34, shared the devastating news that her unborn baby Phoenix - her first child with her boyfriend Will Lindsay - was 'born sleeping' last month. Kelsey, who is the widow of The Wanted star Tom Parker, took to Instagram on Thursday to share a post remembering Phoenix. She re-shared a video of her getting her and Tom's children's names - Aurelia and Bodhi - tattooed on her arms back in March 2023, as well as a phoenix down her ribs. Since losing her son, the mythical bird tattoo has taken on an added meaning for Kelsey as she wrote in a caption of her latest post: 'My little Phoenix with me everyday.' 'I don't use words like anyone's gone to sleep, you know, they are dead and they're not coming back. So I just try my best.' She emotionally shared that her children are 'so aware of death' after losing their father and how important it was that they knew she was 'not going anywhere'. 'Well, I actually sent my children back [to school] on the Monday after we lost Phoenix,' she explained. 'They went straight back to school because I think routine is so good for your children in loss, because the adults are grieving and they're hearing a lot of words and a lot of talking. 'And I think for them, normality and being in school is really good for them. And routine, I think well, not maybe school such, but routine. Like living their routine was good for them. 'They needed to see me be there, I was doing the school pickup because they needed to know that I was okay and that I'm not going anywhere. 'So I think that's really important, especially after since they obviously lost Tom as well.' She added: 'They are so aware of death and loss, so I think it's more the other children in the class that haven't gone through it and my children are talking about death, but it's making and going to make my children the strongest of adults.' Her husband Tom tragically died from brain cancer in 2022, at the age of 33, four years after marrying Kelsey.

Coronation Street star Beverley Callard showcased her giant leg tattoo as she uploaded a clip to Instagram on Thursday. The soap actress, 68, who starred as Liz McDonald on the ITV soap, was seen standing in her kitchen wearing a pair of skimpy denim shorts. But as her husband, Jon McEwan - who she has been marry to since 2010- walked towards her, fans were able to catch a glimpse of her extended inking. She has added a sixth magnolia to the 'growing' bloom of flowers which creeps up her lower leg. Before tying the knot with Jon, Beverley was married to Steve Callard from 1989 until 2001, David Sowden from 1980 until 1988 and Paul Atkinson for three years from 1974 until 1977. Beverley has previously revealed that she's planning to go under the knife because she's 'scared of not getting any work'. Talking about her plans to have a facelift, Beverley told The Sun: 'I am going to do it, yes. It's difficult because our industry is so sexist and ageist, still.' She continued to reflect on how many films have husbands who are much older than their wives, saying the wives are usually 'stick insects… and their faces don't move'. 'I'm just going to join that because I'm scared of not getting work,' she added. The actress is thought to be intending to have the work done at London's Harley Street Skin Clinic. Despite being quite determined to have the surgery, her husband Jon and children Rebecca, 46, and Joshua, 32, are not said to be very keen. Beverley brushed off their concerns, saying she 'hates mirrors' and hasn't got much confidence about her appearance, preferring to play a role than appear as herself. She also detailed Jon's response to her facelift plans while on Melanie Blake's Girl Talk podcast in March, saying: 'Jon really doesn't want me to have it done.
