AFL star Darcy Tucker's $350k St Kilda East property play
Tucker, 27, joined North Melbourne in 2023 after 108 games with Fremantle, having been drafted at pick 27 in the 2015 national draft.
The versatile defender made his AFL debut in 2016 and has since built a reputation for his consistency, toughness and ability to shut down dangerous opponents.
Shock reason two-bed unit had buyers fly in
The couple moved into the inner-city suburb after six months of searching, drawn by its unbeatable location and a price tag almost $350,000 lower than neighbouring bayside postcodes and said it's all about location.
'We're right in the middle of everything, a short stroll to Chapel St, High St, some of the best restaurants in Melbourne,' they said.
'The centrality is unbeatable.'
Having lived in Albert Park for years, Ellie said she was well aware of the gap in values between St Kilda East and similar suburbs.
'I track the market very closely so I knew exactly what we were stepping into,' she said.
'We bought an architecturally designed Victorian home that's brand new and finished without compromise.
'In Albert Park or Prahran, something similar would be hundreds of thousands more.'
For Darcy, the move also made sense from a practical perspective with the drive to Arden St quicker than when the couple was in Albert Park.
'Public transport here is excellent too, when the Metro Tunnel opens, he could even take a train straight across the city if he wanted to Arden.'
The pair have quickly settled into the community, with the couple agreeing Alma Park 'the best dog park in Melbourne.
'It's just five minutes from home we also take regular visits to our local favourite The Wall on Carlisle Street for coffee,' Ellie said.
'Darcy's away a lot with football and I've never felt unsafe here.
And with Melbourne tipped for a market upswing in the coming years, she expects St Kilda East's time could be soon.
'When Prahran and Armadale get to that point where buyers are priced out, they'll come here,' Ellie said.
'We're a long way off upsizing, but I know when the market catches on, this will be the perfect springboard for our next property.'

Queensland has won the right to host the 2027 Women's Softball World Cup. It will be the first time Australia has hosted the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WSBC) tournament since the inaugural event in 1965 in Melbourne, where the national women's team won gold. The top eight women's teams in the world will battle for the title of World Champions at Talobilla Park in Redcliffe, north of Brisbane, from April 5 to 11, 2027. The tournament will be a qualifying event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, held a year ahead of the games and with five years until the Brisbane 2032 Games. "This tournament will highlight Australia's strong passion for softball and the deep roots the sport has in the country's sporting community," WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari said. Softball Australia CEO Sarah Loh said it was an important step in the lead-up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games. "The return of the WSBC Women's Softball World Cup to Australian soil is a powerful opportunity to inspire the next generation with Olympic dreams, boost grassroots participation and deliver lasting benefits to local communities," Ms Loh said. The first Women's Softball World Cup was played at Melbourne's Albert Park in February 1965, with five participating teams: Australia, Japan, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and USA. The Australians emerged with a 1-0 triumph over USA to claim the inaugural world title.

Heidelberg United stun Wellington Phoenix to reach Australia Cup semi-finals
Heidelberg United's dream Australia Cup run continued at Olympic Village on Tuesday night, with the NPL Victoria club thrashing A-League outfit Wellington Phoenix 4-0 to advance to the competition's semi-finals for the first time. A week after beating another top-flight club, Western Sydney Wanderers, in a 3-0 round-of-16 upset at the same venue, the Bergers were again too good in the quarter-final boilover. The tone was set early, with winger Sabit Ngor forcing a save out of Phoenix goalkeeper Josh Oluwayemi in the first minute. ‘Lucky to be alive': Jamarra opens up on ‘traumatising' nightclub shooting
Western Bulldogs forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan says he's 'lucky to be alive' after being a metre away from a 'traumatising' non-fatal shooting outside a nightclub he claims he had no involvement in. Ugle-Hagan was present with a friend at Prahran's Love Machine early on Sunday morning when shots were fired. Speaking to the Herald Sun for the first time on the incident, the 23-year old said he had no involvement in any way and was being treated by police as a witness. There was 20 people around me and probably another 100 at the venue, but my name is being mentioned like I have some kind of part in it. 'I'm linked just by being there. It's trial by media. It is out of my control. 'It is traumatising and no one should be near or see any of that.' Ugle-Hagan, 23, who hasn't played at any level this season due to personal issues, said he was getting into a rideshare vehicle at the time of the gunshots. 'The Dogs are in such an impossible position. They've got to pretend everything is going well with Jamarra, because they want to trade him at the end of the season. 'As soon as those (rival) clubs overlook him, if they do, (the Dogs) will try and find a way to get rid of that $900,00 contract, and that's the challenge. 'A club can terminate a player's contract if they've engaged in serious or repeated misconduct. Being in the vicinity of a gunshot is not that. Having your car taken unwittingly involved in a crime is not that. 'They could recoup some of the money from all those missed training sessions, but they've worked with the AFL and they've allowed him at times to access the mental health care we all believe he needs. 'They'll hope someone trades for him. If he is still on their list, at the end of this situation I think the only scenario for them is to say: 'Here's your payout ... here's $500,000'. 'He could be Tarryn Thomas in a heartbeat. You don't have a birthright to play AFL football, as extraordinarily talented as you are. At some stage the penny has to drop. It hasn't done so dating back 10 or 11 months.'
