‘Best murder mystery show ever' finally back for season 2
A critically acclaimed murder mystery series led by a beloved star is finally back this week on Sky Go and NOW
Crime drama fans are ecstatic as one of the best new murder mystery shows of the past decade has finally returned for its second season.
Created by Knives Out director Rian Johnson and originally airing in 2023, the first season scored a rare 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes thanks to its captivating cases and unique premise.
After waiting nearly two years for TV's favourite new investigator to return to sniff out more murderers, Poker Face is finally back.
The first three episodes are now streaming on Peacock in the United States and, in the UK, viewers can tune in on Sky Go or NOW to get their whodunnit fix.
Styled more like a Columbo-inspired 'howcatchem', each episode begins with the crime itself, usually committed by an A-list Hollywood guest star.
However, no-one gets away with murder for long, as fugitive human lie detector Charlie Cale (played by Natasha Lyonne) has a knack for finding herself in the right place at just the right time to catch a killer, even when she's running from powerful criminals.
Critics are already raving about the second season of Poker Face, which is shaping up to match or even surpass the first season with a gripping premiere starring Wicked actress Cynthia Erivo.
TV Guide claimed the series is 'still one of the best murder mystery shows on TV' with its stellar second outing.
Their review continued: 'Poker Face just isn't as clever as the high points of its iconic predecessor, but if you enjoyed season one, you'll know what to expect — and you'll undoubtedly enjoy what you get this season.
'The show's chief priority is to have fun, a quality that comes through in the personality of its lead character, the scenery-chewing performances of its guest cast, and the ambitious ridiculousness of its writing.
'When it comes to case-of-the-week storytelling, this team is at the top of their game, offering something more enriching than typical crime procedurals, with no shortage of imagination and heart.'

Empire gave season two four stars and highlighted Lyonne's magnetic central performance, writing: 'Cale is ultimately a deadpan masterpiece that only Lyonne could have come up with: a curious, empathic and extremely laid-back creation who continues to ground each outlandish case with a likeable throughline.'
They added: 'If the impressive highs of season two are anything to go by, Poker Face could easily go on for ten more seasons and just get better each time. (No lies detected.)'
And DiscussingFilm gave the season a full five stars, claiming: 'Poker Face season two doesn't just match the first season, it confidently surpasses it.
'The Peacock series firmly solidifies its own unique rhythm, tone, and even a richer sense of purpose in these next 12 episodes. With Tony Tost now serving as showrunner (Americana, Longmire), Poker Face is both funnier and stranger than before.
'It's more confident in breaking its own rules, something that Rian Johnson-affiliated projects have become widely known for. Most importantly, though, Poker Face Season 2 remembers that its greatest strength is Charlie Cale herself, who is brought to life with effortless swagger and gravel-voiced charm by Natasha Lyonne.'
Make sure you don't miss out on more charming capers with Charlie with new episodes of Poker Face airing every Thursday.

Office worker finds genius use for standing desk as people left in stitches
One office worker took to the social media site to show people his unique use for his electric standing desk, and it's certainly captured people's attention, racking up more than 1.6million likes There used to be a time where office desks were very standard, with 9-5 workers usually sat down for most of their day. However, the introduction of standing desks mean many workers can stretch their legs a little bit more. Standing desks also have been found to help improve their posture, reduce back and neck pain and burn a few more calories. However, one man found an even better way to use his electric standing desk that his company provided for him – and it's left people in stitches. The office worker, known as @king_bashel on TikTok, took to the social media site to show people his unique use for his desk, and it's certainly captured people's attention, racking up more than 1.6million likes. The viral video sees Beyonce fan Bashel miming the words to one of Beyonce's performances. As he does this, he sits on his electric standing desk which dramatically lifts him up while he's in the office. Overlay text at the start of the clip read: "POV: You finally found a reason to use your standing desk." People have been left in stitches over the clip, which has racked up more than 9,000 comments. One person exclaimed: "NOBODY has ever used a standing desk more appropriately than you just did." While another joked: "Standing desk sales bout to go crazy." A third joked: "My standing desk just told me to don't even try it." While another chimed in: "I can't wait to get back to work." Other people also feared for Bashel's job after the video, as one person wrote: "HR gonna have a hell of a time tryna keep a straight face while playing the video at the termination meeting." While another added: "The CEO watching this." However, his job can't have been that mad as Bashel has re-created the stunt several times now for different versions of the video. One of these sees his dressed as Elphaba from Wicked as he performs Defying Gravity, while another Beyonce-themed clip sees Bashel perform in a Cowboy get-up as he writes: "POV: You WERKING this standing desk."

Sydney Sweeney And Julianne Moore's New Thriller, Echo Valley, Is Out Now – But Is It Worth Watching?
Two of the biggest stars of the moment, Julianne Moore ( Sirens ) and Sydney Sweeney ( Anyone But You ) star opposite each other in the new thriller Echo Valley, directed by Michael Pearce and written by Brad Ingelsby, which is available to stream on Apple TV+. The story follows Kate Garrett (Moore), who works training horses on her southern Pennsylvania farm, when one night her daughter Claire (Sweeney) arrives at her door covered in blood that is not hers, and Kate has to decide what she is willing to do to protect her daughter. The film also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Kyle MacLachlan, and Fiona Shaw. But with a disappointing 50% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is Echo Valley worth watching? Here's what the critics think. Peter Bradshaw at The Guardian gave the film two stars. 'The film gets mired in some very credulity-stretching stuff about what has to happen when bodies need to be recovered and the twisty finale is overwrought and silly,' he writes. 'The estimable cast all do their utmost but the overall effect is frustratingly implausible.' However, Kevin Maher at The Times called it 'American cinema for adults', awarding Echo Valley four stars. 'It's slightly illogical, yes,' he put, 'but by then we're so invested in the film and so attached to the characters that it hardly matters.' The Financial Times ' Danny Leigh also gave the film four stars. 'I'll take the side of the kind of film that is neither the nth instalment of a franchise, nor fishing for an Oscar, but simply seeks to entertain while also giving you something to chew on,' he reviewed. 'Echo Valley supplies just that.' Elsewhere Gleeson's turn as the film's villain has won praise for his ability to 'successfully create a manipulative monster'. A film fan on X also loved the film writing, 'Went to an early preview screening of #echovalley tonight and I loved it. Julianne and Domnhall are fantastic, and the storyline has so many twists and turns I didn't expect.' Another viewer posted, 'Sydney Sweeney in Echo Valley is magnificent in a visceral role. She displays an emotional intensity that captures the fragility and desperation of her character. Frankly, she is one of the best actresses around these days (though there was never any doubt).' So, despite a poor review from The Guardian and a mixed response (so far) on Rotten Tomatoes, there are plenty of people who have thoroughly enjoyed the film and think the plot is gripping and well-crafted. That means the only way to decide if it's worth watching is to watch it yourself. Echo Valley is available to stream on Apple TV+. Nikki Peach is a writer at Grazia UK, working across entertainment, TV and news. She has also written for the i, i-D and the New Statesman Media Group and covers all things pop culture for Grazia (treating high and lowbrow with equal respect).
