MM Keeravani was biased, Sunitha gave me disgusted looks, claims 19-year-old singer: ‘They forced me to wear sarees below navel, bodyshamed me'

Indian Express23-04-2025

Singer Pravasthi Aaradhya, who has been a part of several singing reality shows since her childhood, recently made some serious allegations against Oscar winning composer MM Keeravani, SP Balasubramaniam's son SP Charan, as well as the other judges of television show, Padutha Theeyaga Silver Jubilee, from which she was recently eliminated. In a long video on her Instagram, the singer accused these judges of bodyshaming her and making her feel worthless by commenting on her talent, disrespecting her mother and behaving differently towards her.
In the video, shared on her Instagram, Pravasthi claimed that one of the judges of the show, Sunitha gave her disgusted looks everytime she appeared on stage. 'She badmouthed to Keeravani garu about my talent. I could hear it as my earpiece was plugged in and she was unaware about it.' She claimed, Sunitha's comments on her changed the behaviour of 'Naatu Naatu' lyricist Chandrabose as well as composer MM Keeravani, who were previously appreciative about her.

Pravasthi even claimed that Keeravani made a comment on her that hurt her deeply. 'He was very biased towards melodies and his compositions. When I got eliminated, he looked at me and commented on how he dislikes singers performing at weddings.' Pravasthi sings at private events due to financial situation at her home. She further shared, 'He also used the word 'Chakiri' (colloquial word for job) when describing the singers who work for him, which felt off.'
Pravasthi further complained about being bodyshamed by the production house on the sets of the show. 'They treated me like I was worthless and cracked jokes about my body.' She accused the production team of forcing her to wear sarees and tie them low to expose her navel. 'Even the costume designer told me to my face, he couldn't dress me better because of my body.
The 19-year-old singer claimed these incidents have taken a toll on her self-esteem and confidence.
Pravasthi also targeted SP Balasubramaniam's son, Charan and said he forced her to stay on stage and tugged at her hand. The singer claimed that the show was completely scripted, and often changed songs last minute to control the eliminations.
This came after the singer was eliminated from the show. However, she clarified that her elimination was not the reason for her sudden revelation and accusations.
She also warned singer Sunitha's fans for bullying and harassing her online for accusing the singer of misbehaviour. 'Stop treating celebrities like God. Don't discredit my feelings just because you like their voice or talent.'
Now, Sunitha has reacted to Pravasthi's claims. In a video on her Instagram handle, the singer said in Telugu, 'Pravasthi when you started singing during your early years, when you were young, you used to sit on our laps and we used to appreciate your singing. But now that you are 19 years old and grown up, there is a way in which we should applaud your performance.'
She dismissed her accusation of changing song end minute and clarified that songs are excluded when the channel doesn't hold right to it. 'Pravasthi is well aware that songs are chosen based on broadcasting rights.' At the end of the video, a disappointed Sunitha said, 'Youngsters today need to learn to accept failure.'

Gauri Khan's Restaurant Torii Saw 'Increased' Sales After Fake Paneer Row, Reveals Chef

Last Updated: Torii is Gauri Khan's first restaurant. It is located in Mumbai's Bandra. Gauri Khan's Torii was recently in the news after a content creator claimed that the restaurant served 'fake paneer". The claim was made on the basis of the iodine test that went viral on Instagram. The stakeholders issued a statement, denying this allegation and explaining the science behind the test. In a recent chat with SCREEN, Head Chef Stefan Gadit opened up about the impact of the controversy. Stefan said, 'It makes an impact when we point fingers at something baseless. The quality, the ingredients, everything we provide is top-notch; we had nothing to worry about. We issued the statement so that people could know what is happening and how things are done." He added, 'There is a lot of stuff going on with food chemistry and food science, it takes four years, just pouring something on something was just…don't get me wrong. He did that with his pure intentions, just wanted to check." When asked if he had spoken to the content creator, Stefan said, 'We did speak to the gentleman and tried to get a sense of how things are done in the culinary world and how food science works. He understood and took off the post. We, as a team, as the management, believe that people are smart enough to understand what was going on." Reflecting on how the controversy impacted business, Stefan shared, 'It increased our business and I got more than 20-30 followers on Instagram, so that was a blessing in disguise, I would say." For the unversed, Gauri Khan ventured into the hospitality industry with her debut restaurant, Torii, located in Mumbai's vibrant Bandra neighbourhood. The establishment, which opened its doors in February 2024, offers a unique blend of Latin-Asian fusion cuisine in a setting that reflects Khan's signature style. The name Torii is inspired by the traditional Japanese gate found at the entrance of Shinto shrines, symbolising the transition from the mundane to the sacred. Khan's design philosophy for the restaurant incorporates this concept, aiming to create an immersive dining experience that transports guests into a world of refined elegance. Culinary direction at Torii is led by Chef Stefan Gadit, whose international experience influences the innovative menu. First Published: June 09, 2025, 19:45 IST

Ed Sheeran Became An Arijit Singh Fan After Listening To THIS Song: 'I Was Spellbound'

Last Updated: Arijit Singh invited Ed Sheeran and his father to his hometown in Bengal. Ed Sheeran recently collaborated with Arijit Singh for the song, Sapphire. The recently released song has been an instant hit with the Indian audiences due to the singers' vocals and a surprise appearance by Shah Rukh Khan. Days after the song's release, Ed Sheeran took to his Instagram to pen a heartfelt note for Arijit Singh. Ed Sheeran wrote, 'I first became aware of @arijitsingh music when I watched Aashiqui 2 and heard Tum Hi Ho. I was proper spellbound by his voice, the song, the scene in the movie. I checked him out, and got in touch, and said whenever you wanna sing together, I'm down. He was playing London, so I went to guest with him and sing Perfect there, it was an incredible show." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ed Sheeran (@teddysphotos) It was during this meeting that Ed played an early version of Sapphire for Arijit, who instantaneously had input for vocals and instruments. Ed wrote, 'We then were pen pals over email for a bit, until I was in India for tour. I said to him, we should finish this in person, and he said, please come to my home town so I can show you my home and culture. I was with my dad on tour, which is a rarity to get so much one-on-one time with him. Me and him got a flight to Kolkata, then a 5 and a half hour drive to his home town." 'We arrived, went on a barge down the river, which was stunning, then got a scooty back to the studio where we finished the song. Arijit taught me Punjabi and how to pronounce it all properly, and showed me Sitar. We then had dinner, and scooted around the village to see the sunset and moon with my dad. Was a proper core memory I'll always cherish with my father, and I'm honoured to have created in this way with Arijit," the singer mentioned. 'He's one of the most talented humans I've ever met, and I'm so grateful he shared his talent with me for this song. The full Punjabi version we recorded will be out in a couple of weeks, but until then, I'll be drip-feeding fun videos from our time together," Ed Sheeran concluded. First Published:

Critics and viewers alike have called out Housefull 5 for its double-meaning jokes, objectification of women, and what they described as an outdated sense of humor. The film has also been criticised for its weak storyline and loud, exaggerated performances. Despite this, the Tarun Mansukhani-directed comedy continues to perform well at the box office. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Housefull 5 has already earned Rs 87 crore in India. The film opened to an impressive Rs 24 crore on Day 1—outpacing both the previous instalment's debut and Akshay's recent releases like Sky Force and Kesari Chapter 2. The upward trend continued, with the second day pulling in Rs 31 crore, taking the film's domestic total to Rs 55 crore within the first two days alone. While critics may remain divided, there's no denying the commercial appeal of the franchise and Akshay's draw among mass audiences. First Published:
