Man charged after allegedly holding newborn by foot while assaulting woman in Monongalia County
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man has been charged with allegedly strangling a woman and abusing an infant in Monongalia County.
On May 12, deputies with the Monongalia County Sheriff's Department responded to a call of a dispute taking place at Timberline Apartments in Morgantown, according to a criminal complaint.
While en route, deputies were advised that a female victim had gotten to a different residence and informed the occupants that Doryian Williams, 24, of Braddock, Pennsylvania, had punched her, deputies said.
After officers arrived, the victim told them that Williams had taken her cell phone and 'restrained her from leaving' for multiple hours, according to the complaint.
During the time Williams held the victim, he also grabbed a newborn infant from the victim, 'held [the infant] by the foot over the bed' and 'slammed [the infant] onto the bed' before knocking the adult victim to the ground and choking her, deputies said.

After choking the victim, Williams 'grabbed a handgun and held it in his hand while he began to yell at her angrily' and then struck the victim 'with the handgun multiple times,' according to the complaint.
Williams has been charged with strangulation and child abuse. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail.

‘Grinch' who allegedly stole, prowled cars on Christmas in Camas arrested
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Months after a person was caught on camera stealing a car and prowling other vehicles last Christmas, Camas police announced on Wednesday that they have made an arrest in the case. Rockford residents battle through hardship to get a high school diploma
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Several Rockford residents who were enrolled in an online high school program received their high school diplomas at the Nordlof Center on Wednesday. The Adult High School Program is offered by the Rockford Public Library to support those in the community battling hardship who want to earn their high school diploma later in life. Over 30% of Rockford residents do not have diplomas because of personal hardships, according to Loomis. The program's Development Director, Brook Loomis, said there were over 175 people enrolled this year. 'I feel like every time we come to these ceremonies, it almost feels more like a pep rally,' explained Loomis. 'Yeah, it brings you to tears because, you see, multi-generational families graduating together.' 'I think it really takes away those barriers that they might have had before,' Loomis continued. 'That's really what we've found with this program is that we allow students to do it on their terms.' One of the program's academic coaches could not be prouder of his students. 'I've been with this program for about eight years, and to see a lot of our students come from where they were to actually getting a diploma,' said Academic Coach Gibson Garcon. 'Some of them didn't even think it was possible.' The program will continue to provide Rockford residents a second chance, with 100 people already enrolled for next year's classes. Student honored by graduating class after his death

The student's mother is now launching a nonprofit in honor of her son and to help other youth who may be struggling with thoughts of self-harm and suicide. WEST PHILADELPHIA - An emotional tribute during a Philadelphia high school graduation remembering a passionate student who dreamed of becoming a firefighter, until his life was sadly cut short two years ago happened Wednesday. He was honored by his fellow graduates on stage and his mother received his diploma, awarded posthumously. Tribute for their classmate A memorial tribute was held in honor of a student named Ahmeen Kelly during Mastery Schools Shoemaker Campus commencement ceremony on Wednesday. "Ahmeen was more than my best friend. He was my partner in crime," said Taliah Waite on stage. "Class of 2025 will never forget you and will carry you on with the courage and heart you always believed we had." The students invited his mother, Jewelz Wiliams, to receive his honorary diploma. The Philadelphia Fire Department also presented her with a shadow box containing his Fire Explorer uniform. Williams went up on the stage during graduation wearing her son's cap and gown. She said Kelly was a football star who had a passion for serving the community and dreamed of becoming a firefighter one day. Tragedy Sadly, Kelly took his own life on May 19, 2023, at the young age of 16. Williams said her son contracted COVID and started suffering from seizures. She said it took a toll on his mental health. "I'm emotional. It's a very emotional time. I wish he was here to celebrate this day with us," said Williams. "There weren't any signs. That's something I want people to know. I want them to know that depression and things like this may not come with a frown or crying. He presented himself every day with a smile. He always was the light of the party. I want people to know you probably need to dig a little bit deeper." Helping others To honor his legacy, Williams is now launching a nonprofit called the Ahmeen Bizness Foundation to provide a safe space for youth to come and talk about their struggles. "I want these kids to live their life as if there's no tomorrow. I want them to achieve all of their goals. I want to see them succeed, not only for themselves but for Ahmeen.
