Dave Portnoy proves his Swiftie status with handwritten note from Taylor Swift

Express Tribune22-10-2024

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy wants to set the record straight: he's a true Swiftie, and he's got the letter to prove it.
In an Instagram video shared on Sunday, Portnoy showcased a handwritten note from Taylor Swift herself, thanking him for attending her 'Eras Tour' in Miami. The businessman shared the letter in response to a viral TikTok accusing him of being a "fake Swiftie" who was using Swift's name to gain attention.
'It was an amazing night and I should be on cloud nine, but this girl kind of went viral recently trashing me and being like, 'I'm a fake Swiftie. Swifties should hate this guy, more importantly, Taylor's camp hates Dave, they never talked to him [or] reached out,'" Portnoy explained, addressing the viral clip.
He clarified that the accusations were unfounded, revealing this was his second time attending the 'Eras Tour'.
Portnoy then pulled out the handwritten letter, reportedly from Swift and delivered by her brother, Austin, during the concert.
"This girl is like, 'Ooh Taylor hates him. They don't want him there. They don't like him,'" Portnoy said. 'This letter from Taylor herself that was hand-delivered to me in the VIP section."
He then read the note aloud: "Dave, I'm so happy to have you at the show tonight! I wanted to say thank you for always being so supportive, so loyal, and for having my back when a lot of people didn't. I hope you have a blast tonight! Love, Taylor."
Portnoy reflected on the moment, noting that the note should have been the "highlight" of his night, especially after meeting Swift's mother, Andrea.
"We had like, a real hug. Like, almost teary, like, a real hug," he recalled. Despite the negative comments, Portnoy ultimately decided to take the high road, saying, "I think Taylor would like me to take the high road so I will."
This isn't the first time Portnoy has defended his Swiftie status. After Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president last month, Portnoy stood by her side despite planning to vote for Donald Trump.
"As the king of the Swifties people are asking me what I think of her Kamala endorsement. I don't care at all," he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "People can vote for whoever they want in this country."

Ryan Lochte and Kayla Reid divorce after 7 years of marriage and 3 kids

Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte and his wife Kayla Reid are officially ending their marriage after seven years. Kayla confirmed the news via Instagram on Wednesday, June 4, revealing she filed for divorce earlier this year after careful reflection. 'Earlier this year, I made the hard decision to end my marriage after deep prayer and reflection,' Reid wrote. 'This has been one of the most painful, revealing, and challenging seasons of my life.' Court records show the official filing was submitted on March 26. The couple, who met in 2016 during the Rio Olympics year, share three children: Caiden Zane, nearly 8, Liv Rae, almost 6, and Georgia June, who turns 2 later this month. They got engaged in October 2016 and were married in 2018. In her emotional statement, Reid said the decision to leave was driven by love and the need to protect herself and her children. 'Staying isn't always the most loving decision someone can make. For me, leaving was an act of love,' she added. Lochte, a 12-time Olympic medalist, has not publicly commented on the split. The announcement follows a difficult year for the athlete, who previously spoke about recovering from a near-fatal car accident in 2023 and the resulting mental health struggles. Kayla concluded her statement with a message of faith and hope. 'I believe God is still at work — even in the breaking,' she said, emphasizing resilience and personal growth.

Love Island USA season 7 premiere kicks off with surprise twist, delayed stream, and steamy couple shakeups

Love Island USA Season 7 made a dramatic entrance despite a 40-minute delay due to technical issues on Peacock's end, as reported by Screen Rant's Cher Thompson. The new season opened with a musical number led by returning host Ariana Madix and introduced ten new Islanders. A surprising twist gave the female contestants the power to kiss and choose their partners, a shakeup from previous seasons. The initial pairings were: Chelley Bissainthe & Austin Shepard, Huda Mustafa & Jeremiah Brown, Olandria Carthen & Taylor Williams, Bell-A Walker & Nic Vansteenberghe, and Yulissa Escobar & Ace Greene. Before these couplings, the women each kissed two of the men, and the men could be stolen at any moment. The result was a fast-paced and unpredictable shuffle that set the tone for the season. Two late arrivals, Bombshells Charlie Georgiou and Cierra Ortega, added even more intrigue. They kissed all the Islanders during a blindfolded game where each contestant had a chance to secretly kiss someone outside their pairing. This bold move stirred anticipation for the drama to come. Early dynamics are already shifting. Chelley showed a clear interest in TikTok star Ace Greene, despite her pairing with Austin. Huda revealed she has a daughter, a detail that could influence her relationship with Jeremiah. Belle-A's reluctance to get physical with Nic may also present challenges. Meanwhile, Yulissa's seemingly strategic behavior contrasted with the more open and honest interactions among Chelley, Olandria, and Belle-A. Despite the chaotic start, Love Island USA Season 7 has set the tone for a summer filled with emotional depth, evolving relationships, and surprising twists. With nightly episodes (except Wednesdays) on Peacock, the drama is just getting started.
