Hisar teen shot dead by classmate over seat in school
A Class 10 student was shot dead by his classmate near Satrod on the outskirts of Hisar on Thursday, police said.
The deceased boy has been identified as 15-year-old resident of Mastnath colony in Hisar and he was studying in a private school in Hansi.
Hisar government railway police station house officer Vinod Kumar said that the incident took place around 7.30 am on Thursday when the victim left the house to bring milk.
'His classmate aged 15, called him to a secluded area in the bushes near the railway line where both quarreled over a seat in the class. Then, the accused boy fired two shots at him with his grandfather's licensed revolver. His grandfather is a retired army personnel and working as a security guard in a bank. The injured boy was rushed by a passerby to Jindal hospital in Hisar, where doctors declared him brought dead,' he added.
Hisar police spokesperson Vikas Kumar said that the accused boy has been apprehended by a team of crime investigation agency (CIA) of the district police. He said that the crime scene team has visited the spot and collected evidence from the spot.
'The accused boy was apprehended as he was the last person who called the victim on his phone and his mobile phone's location was also found near railway lines in Satrod, where the 15-year-old boy was shot at. During questioning, he tried to mislead the police but eventually confessed to committing the crime of killing his classmate,' the spokesperson added.
The deceased boy's father, a retired army personnel member, said that his son was a brilliant student in academics and he had no rivalry with anyone.
'We are shocked by the incident and our life has become hell,' he added.
The government railway police have booked the accused boy on murder charges and relevant sections of the Arms Act. The police officials said that they will recover the licensed revolver from the accused.

Noida: The fast track court of additional sessions judge, Saurabh Dwivedi, acquitted Neeraj Sharma, who spent five years in jail after police falsely accused him of attempted murder and firing at officers in 2018. Evidence revealed that Sharma, a Bulandshahr resident, was actually the victim who had been shot by the police. The court ordered his immediate release on May 31, exposing a case of wrongful imprisonment and police misconduct. The case goes back to July 2, 2018 when a Bisrakh police team was on patrol near Hanuman Temple after a tip-off about suspicious vehicles coming from Sorkha and Hindon Bridge. According to the prosecution, the police team, which was on patrol in their private vehicle, had split into two teams to conduct the checks. During checks, an informer identified a motorcycle carrying alleged 'anti-social elements' with illegal arms. When asked to stop, the riders allegedly fired at police with the intention of killing and tried to flee. The pillion rider, Neeraj, shot twice before the bike skidded, throwing both off. While the rider escaped, Neeraj fired again, prompting police to shoot in self-defense. The prosecution claimed during the trial that the firing was retaliatory. Refuting these claims, Sharma said the encounter was false and instead, he was picked up by police, shot at, and he was booked in a fabricated case. Seeking trial, his counsel, Deepak Vats, said that after firing on Sharma, police made up a story to accuse him of firing on police and possessing illegal arms. Having heard both sides, the court noted serious flaws in the prosecution's case, including a failure to prove that the pistol recovered from the accused was functional. No forensic or ballistic tests were conducted to confirm if the pistol had been fired. Additionally, there were contradictions in witness testimonies as prosecution witness 2 (Rajendra Kumar) claimed the accused fired two bullets, with both empty cartridges recovered from the scene, while witness 1 (Devendra Rathi) stated only one cartridge was found, with the other stuck in the pistol. These inconsistencies raised doubts about the prosecution's version of events. The court also found the use of a private vehicle and the missing general diary entry, ahead of the claimed patrol of July 2, 2018, as doubtful. "Under the given circumstances, the prosecution has failed to establish the fact that the pistol produced here belonged to the accused or that he used it to fire on police, and accordingly, he deserves to be acquitted of the attempted murder charge levelled under section 307 IPC and also section 25/27 of the Arms Act for possessing an illegal weapon," the judgement read. Court ordered Sharma's immediate release and directed him to deposit a personal bond with two sureties of Rs 25,000 each.

Noida man abuses friend in drunken brawl, stabbed to death
Noida: A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his friend to death during a drunken brawl on Monday night. When cops reached the spot, Kapil's family and friends alleged his friend Jitendra, a resident of Prahlad Colony in Sector 49, had murdered him. "We registered a case under sections of murder and Kapil's remains were sent for post-mortem," Shukla said. Police traced Jitendra and arrested him later that night. They also recovered the knife used in the crime and a stone, both covered in blood, from his possession. "During interrogation, Jitendra revealed that he and Kapil would sit together and consume liquor every day. They knew each other for 10-12 years. A few months ago, Jitendra's nephew died, and he believed Kapil was responsible for it," Shukla said. On Monday, the two had been drinking together when they had a disagreement. Jitendra told cops that Kapil verbally abused him, and the dispute escalated, leading him to stabbing Kapil in a fit of rage. An FIR has been registered against the accused under BNS section 103(1) (murder) and sections 4, 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.

Day after ATS raids at Padgha, two FIRs lodged; no arrests yet
A day after the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) conducted raids at 22 locations at Padgha near Bhiwandi, two FIRs were registered by the probe agency under sections of the Arms Act over a chopper and sword seized during the raids. The agency did not give the names of the accused against whom the FIRs have been registered. An officer said they have seized 19 mobile phones during the raids, which have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Kalina for data extraction. The officer said they had received information that while Saquib Nachan, who as per the NIA is the head of the Maharashtra module of ISIS, was lodged in Tihar jail and his son Shamil at Taloja prison since 2023, some Padgha locals, including some of Nachan's relatives, had 'become active again and were carrying out anti-national activities'. It was based on this information that the ATS, along with Thane (rural) police, conducted raids at 22 houses in the area. 'The main information will come from the 19 mobile phones that have been seized. We suspect some of the data was deleted, hence all these phones have been sent for forensic extraction that will reveal all the content. This will give us clarity on whether anything anti-national was brewing there,' the officer said. Nachan, who is a resident of Boriwali in Padgha, was arrested along with his son in 2023 by the NIA for allegedly delivering provocative speeches aimed at inciting anti-national sentiments, brainwashing people and recruiting them in terrorist groups. After receiving specific intelligence, warrants were duly secured from the court and the raids were conducted at nearly two-dozen places, including the home of Nachan's elder brother Aquib. The raids, which began around 4 am Monday and continued until the afternoon, were carried out by over 250 police personnel, including 20 ATS teams. The ATS claimed several suspicious articles were recovered, including SIM cards, mobile handsets, lethal weapons, including swords and knives, suspicious property-related documents and printed material allegedly meant for radicalising and brainwashing youth.
