Vietnam veteran gets new home in Vandalia, thanks to Habitat for Humanity
A Vietnam veteran and his family now have a home with enough space thanks to Habitat for Humanity.
The home dedication ceremony happened Friday in Vandalia, and Len Pringle got the keys to his new home.

'So this grandiose dream of mine, hey, let's go to Dayton, Ohio,' Pringle said.
Len and his family's dream of living in a spacious home has come true.
'We all are going to do positive things for this community. I thank the City of Vandalia and Habitat for Humanity, all those beautiful faces,' Pringle said.

Through Habitat for Humanity's affordable mortgage program, Pringle and his wife took classes to learn about homeownership.
Before this, the Pringles lived in a two-bedroom rental, their new three-bedroom home feels much more comfortable.
Pringle says he wants people to know that some veterans struggle, and they want to become homeowners too.
'Veterans need help. Vets are on the streets, they need housing. We need to do something. It starts here,' Pringle said.

Veteran family celebrates new home through Habitat for Humanity
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Habitat for Humanity has provided a fresh start to one family in Vandalia. The Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton hosted a special house dedication on Friday for Navy veteran Len and his family. The family of four was previously living in a small, two-bedroom rental. Through Habitat for Humanity's Veterans Build, Len, his wife Alicia and their two kids will get to live in a much more spacious house. Habitat offers zero percent interest mortgages while requiring potential homeowners to complete homeownership classes and 275 sweat-equity volunteer hours to quality for their new home. Through it all, Len says the organization went above and beyond to help his family succeed. 'When I look back on everything this program has provided for us, it's totally unbelievable,' said Len, veteran, new homeowner. 'All the things they taught us, all the things that they actually helped us through. They never left our side when we had dark moments, and they supported us all the way.' Habitat for Humanity La Crosse wants to Renew the Block with sustainable space for all
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Habitat for Humanity is transforming part of a northside La Crosse neighborhood into a sustainable space for all with Renew the Block. During this initiative, Habitat is planting trees, cleaning up landscaping, adding an outdoor classroom, and a lot more. The hope is to bring initiatives such as stormwater mitigation and urban agriculture to the area around Logan Middle School. Work on the project began last year. However, Habitat for Humanity is seeking help from the community to complete the work with a 'Pave the Way' fundraiser. Habitat for Humanity Sustainability Director Amy Smith explained, 'This 'Pave the Way' fundraiser is an amazing way for the community to leave their mark on this project. You can engrave your name on a paver, write a nice message, honor a loved one, whatever it is that you want to do. You have an opportunity to be part of this project, too.' Habitat for Humanity has a goal of $60,000 to complete the initiative. The pavers are designed to help prevent over 500,000 gallons of stormwater runoff per year.
