Channel 4's Amazing Spaces star charged with rape and sexual assault at hotel
A man who appeared on Channel 4's Amazing Spaces has been accused of rape and sexual assault. James Catling, whose Airstream caravan refurbishment business was featured on the show earlier this month, is accused of attacking a woman at a pub and hotel in Great Tew, Oxfordshire, in September 2022, reports the Mirror . He was arrested on October 1 2022, but was released under investigation. Last month, he was formally charged by post with one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault. He appeared at Oxford magistrates court on Tuesday. During the hearing, Catling spoke to confirm his name, age and address. According to the Sun, Dr Andrew Rushbrook JP told him: 'You've heard what's been said today. 'We have to send this to the crown court , where all four offences you have been charged with will be dealt with together." He was granted bail under the condition that he does not contact the alleged victim. He is expected to appear at Oxford crown court next month. His episode of Amazing Spaces, which aired on April 15, remains available on Channel 4's streaming platform as well as Yotube. It showed him adding 800 new parts to a 1947 campervan, costing almost £40,000. He had travelled to the US to purchase the van before he brought it back to the UK. Architect and show host George Clarke told Catling he made the van look "brand new". He also likened it to the "inside of a luxury private jet'. George added it was "the best Airstream restoration project I have ever seen." The restored van was later listed on eBay for £120,000. It is unclear when the episode was filmed, but it has since attracted thousands of views online. George Clarke's Amazing Spaces has aired since 2012, focusing on creative and compact builds across the UK. Channel 4 , Thames Valley Police, and Oxford Magistrates' Court have been contacted for comment. Many stars of the show have revealed how they turned unconventional things such as old boats and vans into places to live. The latest series aired this year. If you've been the victim of sexual assault, you can access help and resources via www.rapecrisis.org.uk or calling the national telephone helpline on 0808 802 9999

This Thursday, we're taking a look at the eligibility of free school meals getting extended, to the search for missing Brit Jordan Johnson-Doyle. Ryanair: Multiple people injured on 'dangerous flight' after plane hits 'supercell' Early this morning, our World News team shared reports of a Ryanair pilot being forced into an emergency landing due to dangerous weather. Nine people - including a two-year-old child and a crew member - were injured last night after a Ryanair flight was forced to make an emergency landing. The plane flew into a severe thunderstorm leaving passengers terrified. The pilot announced he was aborting the flight and immediately landing at the nearest airport. One passenger described the scenes as 'chaotic and dangerous'. The Ryanair jet had 185 people on board when it was hit by extreme turbulence over southern Germany. It was flying from the German capital Berlin to the Italian city Milan when the pilot made emergency landing at Memmingen Airport in Bavaria. A spokesman for the German authorities said that nine people were injured, including one crew member and a two-year-old child. Our World News team has been following the case of missing Brit Jordan Johnson-Doyle since the end of last month, and today reported that his body had been found in a lift shaft in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. Jordan Johnson-Doyle, 25, vanished on May 27 after he was last seen at a bar in a suburb of the country's capital. His disappearance sparked a massive search in a bid to find him but, tragically, he has now been found dead in a lift shaft at the ground floor of a construction site. A post-mortem found the cause of death was a "chest injury sustained from a fall from height," according to police chief Rusdi Mohd Isa. He added: "No criminal elements were found at the scene and the case has been classified as a sudden death report." Free school meal change as thousands to save up to £500 - check what it means for your area Our Politics team, who have long been championing free school meals for children, have reported that more than half a million children will become eligible for free school meals from next year after an expansion of eligibility rules. Keir Starmer has unveiled plans to extend the lifeline benefit to all kids in families who get Universal Credit (UC) in England, in a move that could save parents up to £500 a year. Currently, all children in England can get free school meals until the end of Year 2 but after that they only qualify if their family earns less than £7,400 a year after benefits. In a huge expansion, from September 2026, all children in UC households will be able to get a free lunch. A large proportion of kids on UC already receive free school meals as their household's income falls below the £7,400 threshold point. But some 500,000 more kids will now be eligible, according to the Government's estimates. Romeo Beckham splits from Kim Turnbull after relationship dragged into family drama Last night, our Showbiz team reported that Romeo Beckham has split from his partner Kim Turnbull, having had their relationshup dragged into the rift within the Beckham family in recent months. It's now been revealed that Romeo, 22, and Kim, 24, have separated after seven months together. It's said that their relationship "fizzled out" three weeks after his father David Beckham 's 50th birthday, which was at the start of last month. The special occasion fuelled rumours of a family feud as David's eldest son Brooklyn Beckham, 26, and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, were thought to have been absent from celebrations. Romeo's relationship with Kim was attributed as a factor in the alleged rift at one point, though more recently other parties have been blamed instead amid ongoing speculation. As part of the ongoing Winter Fuel Allowance saga, our Money team earlier shared a message from Money Supermarket guru Martin Lewis, after Chancellor Rachel Reeves confirmed yesterday that Winter Fuel Payments will be extended to more pensioners this winter. Speaking at an event in Rochdale, Greater Manchester yesterday, Reeves told reporters that "more people will get Winter Fuel Payment this winter", adding that further details will be announced "as soon as we possibly can". She said: "People should be in no doubt that the means test will increase and more people will get Winter Fuel Payment this winter."

Pheobe Bishop's flatmates charged with missing teen's murder
Pheobe, 17, vanished 21 days ago. The flatmates of missing Pheobe Bishop have been charged with her murder. Cops confirmed they have arrested and charged James Wood and Tanika Bromley, who are a couple, each with murder and two counts each of interfering with a corpse. The pair were arrested in Bundaberg in Australia on Thursday. Pheobe, 17, vanished 21 days ago. She had been living with the couple at the time of her disappearance. While the investigation is ongoing, the Mirror reports that Queensland Police are treating her disappearance as murder. However, the alarm was raised when Pheobe failed to board the flight. Detectives have suggested Wood and Bromley drove Pheobe for 40 minutes to Bundaberg Airport. However, new CCTV footage has emerged in her case. A spokesperson for Queensland Police said: 'Detectives have charged a 34-year-old man and 33-year-old woman with murder in relation to the disappearance of 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop. 'Pheobe has not been seen or heard from since May 15. The remains of Pheobe Bishop have not been located to date.' Police continue to appeal for dash cam or CCTV footage of Ms Bromley's grey Hyundai ix35, which the trio were travelling. They believe it was a key component of the investigation into the Pheobe's disappearance. So far, CCTV has shown a car - similar to the one Pheobe had been travelling in before she vanished - driving through Gin Gin at 10.30am the day she was last seen. The journey was made two hours after the teen was thought to have been dropped off at the airport. Get all the big headlines, pictures, analysis, opinion and video on the stories that matter to you. Missing UK tourist found dead at bottom of lift shaft in Malaysia
Brit backpacker Jordan Johnson-Doyle, 25, disappeared on May 27 in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. He was last seen at a bar in a suburb. The body of a missing tourist who vanished in Malaysia has been found in a lift shaft a week after he vanished. Brit backpacker Jordan Johnson-Doyle, 25, disappeared on May 27 in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur after he was last seen at a bar in a suburb. As the Mirror reports, a major search was launched by police after he was reported missing. Tragically the search has ended after he was found dead in a lift shaft at the ground floor of a construction site. A post-mortem found the cause of death was a horror "chest injury sustained from fall from height", according to police chief Rusdi Mohd. Police have ruled out any foul play. The police chief added: "No criminal elements were found at the scene and the case has been classified as a sudden death report." Jordan was last seen at Healey Mac's Irish Bar in the Bangsar area of the city. He had sent his friend a photo of the pub's quiz poster before he is believed to have gone to a nearby bar called The Social. His devastated mum Leanna Burnett previously told how she felt"sick" and "numb" over his shock disappearance. Leanna used a tracking device 'find my iPhone' to trace her son's phone in a desperate search for him. The tracker showed the mobile was at a residential block close to the bar in the Kuala Lumpur suburb where Jordan had been. Leanna said she last spoke to her son on May 26 just a day before he disappeared. She previously said: "He seemed absolutely fine and normal. Nothing stood out whatsoever. "We always end the phone call with 'love long time' and that was the very last thing we said to each other." Jordan had been backpacking around South East Asia at the time and had recently visited nearby country Vietnam on his travels. It is understood he arrived in Malaysia on May 17 and was staying at the Robertson Residences at Bukit, in Kuala Lumpur. Tributes have poured in for the software engineer. One social media user wrote to the family, they said: "So sorry for your his soul rest in peace, may God comfort n give strength to you n family in this difficult times. Sending love & hugs from Ipoh, Malaysia." Another added: "Deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family." Jordan Johnson-Doyle's death shares some similarities to that of Brit tourist Tyler Kerry, 20, who was found dead in a lift shaft in Turkey. Tyler was found unresponsive inside a lift shaft at the Trendy Lara Hotel in Antalya last year. It was believed Tyler opened the door believing the lift had arrived and walked through and into the empty shaft.
