Road rage victim shot at near Alliston at midnight
Police are seeking the public's help in locating a white F-150 pickup truck in the Alliston area (File). Police are investigating a serious road rage incident that occurred on Wednesday between 11p.m., and 12:14 a.m. Thursday in New Tecumseth. Shortly after midnight, a driver headed westbound on County Road 1 saw a white Ford F-150 pickup swerving and braking erratically. When both vehicles reached the intersection of County Road 1 and Adjala-Tecumseth Townline, the victim passed the suspect vehicle, stopped, and briefly confronted the driver. He did not get a description of the driver or a licence plate number. He drove westbound on County Road 1, but the suspect vehicle quickly reappeared behind him. Both vehicles turned northbound onto County Road 50. Police say as they approached the intersection of County Road 50 and Highway 89, the victim entered the left turning lane while the suspect's truck entered the right turning lane, beside the driver's car. Suddenly the victim heard a loud bang, initially believed to be a rock striking the vehicle. When he returned home, he discovered a bullet hole in the front passenger door. He called police who arrived and retrieved bullet fragments from the door. The suspect vehicle, described as a white Ford F-150, was last seen heading eastbound on Highway 89 toward Alliston. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam footage from the area between 11p.m. Wednesday and 12:30 a.m. Thursday to contact the Nottawasaga OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
