Next Brentford manager odds: Bookies reveal favourite to succeed Thomas Frank
The bookies have backed one of Thomas Frank's former coaches at Brentford top succeed his ahead of the Dane's move to Tottenham Hotspur
The manager merry-go-round continues as Thomas Frank's imminent exit at Brentford to takeover the helm at Tottenham Hotspur means another Premier League club is looking for a new manager.
Brentford will be looking for a new manager for the first time almost seven years after the Dane joined in October 2018 and guided the Bees to promotion to the Premier League after succeeding Dean Smith. The west London club have enjoyed four seasons in the Premier League having secured two top 10 finishes in that time with a relatively smaller budget than most of their competitors around them.
The next manager's first task is to maintain the club's consistency as a stable Premier League side but will be keen to grow further as they seek out a first European campaign in the near future. The Bees were close in the 2022/23 season having finished two points behind Aston Villa on the last day of the season - with a superior goal difference too - and again last season before four wins in their last eight meant they missed out by nine points.
Many will be surprised with who the bookies have backed as the early favourite to replace the 51-year-old Dane but early indications show the club will be looking to recruit internally.
Who is the favourite to replace Thomas Frank?
The favourite with the bookmakers to be the next Bees boss is a well established coach, but will be a new name to many Premier League fans. Justin Cochrane, Frank's assistant manager at Brentford, is the bookies favourite with BetVictor pricing the former defender at 4/7 to take up his first managerial role.
The 43-year-old, who also had spells in defensive midfield too, played for 12 different clubs over 13 years as a player and capped 14 times for Antigua and Barbuda before retiring to pursue a coaching career. His playing CV included spells at Crewe Alexandra, Rotherham United and Hayes & Yeading United
Cochrane has been on the coaching staff with the Brentford first team since July 2022 and took up a second role with the England senior team in February this year.
Cochrane had a 13-year playing career in the lower leagues but has stepped up a level after moving into coaching.
He worked in the Tottenham academy, coached England up to Under-17 level, then became head of player development and coaching at Manchester United in 2021.
Now after his time as Frank's assistant and working with Thomas Tuchel, he is being tipped to take over the top job at Brentford.
