1,939 Nursing Officers selected in NORCET 2025; AIIMS Delhi fills 595 posts
New Delhi: AIIMS New Delhi conducted the
Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test
(NORCET) 2025 for all AIIMS, including new AIIMS set up under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthyya Suraksha Yojna and other participating Central Government Hospitals under the
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
, said the ministry in an official release.
According to the release, a total of around 2,000 vacancies of Nursing Officers were advertised, including around 600 vacancies pertaining to AIIMS, New Delhi and 300 vacancies of AIIMS-CAPFIMS (Central Armed Forces Institute of Medical Sciences).
The results were declared in May 2025, out of 1,939 candidates selected 595 Nursing officers (NOs) have been selected for AIIMS, New Delhi and 288 NOs for AIIMS-CAPFIMS.
Recognizing the critical need for regular staffing in Hospitals, the NORCET examination--earlier conducted once a year--is now being held twice annually to ensure timely recruitment and uninterrupted patient care services. This policy shift aligns with the strategic planning of AIIMS and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, virtually addressed the first edition of the Conclave on "Best Practices"
The two-day conclave was organised by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur.
According to a release from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the two-day Conclave seeks to showcase exemplary practices adopted by various AIIMS institutions, focusing on
patient-centric care
, operational efficiency, digital transformation, and academic excellence.
AIIMS institutes from across the country (AIIMS Bhopal, AIIMS Jammu, AIIMS Bilaspur, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Nagpur, AIIMS Deoghar, AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Gorakhpur, AIIMS Guwahati, AIIMS Raipur) , along with the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) division and the Ministry of Defence, collaborated in the conclave. Union Health Secretary, Ms. Punya Salila Srivastava, delivered the opening address at the event.
In his address, underlining the significance of All India Institutes of Medical Sciences, Union Minister JP Nadda stated that "each AIIMS, established as an Institute of National Importance, integrates advanced clinical care, high-quality medical education and research excellence.
Strategically located to address regional disparities, every AIIMS serves as a Centre of healthcare innovation and learning, delivering equitable, affordable and evidence-based healthcare services. These institutions reflect the Government's commitment to strengthening public health systems, raising standards of care and nurturing a new generation of healthcare leaders." (ANI)

Fake cancer drugs: 40 distributors near key Delhi hospitals raided; 160 samples sent for testing
The Drug Control department has launched a crackdown across the Capital, collecting over 160 samples of cancer drugs as part of a special enforcement drive. The samples have been sent for testing to check for possible spurious, counterfeit, or substandard products. The suo motu action comes after the Delhi Police Crime Branch, earlier this month, busted a well-organised racket that allegedly sold spurious, unauthorised, and unregistered cancer drugs to unsuspecting patients. Sources in the department said the raids covered major drug distribution hubs close to cancer centres in South Delhi, including AIIMS, Safdarjung Hospital, Lok Nayak Hospital adjoining the Central Delhi zone; Darya Ganj and Bhagirath Place near Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Rohini; and Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi. Out of the 40 firms where the department conducted raids, violations were found in 15 shops. 'Sale and purchase records of these 15 firms revealed discrepancies in billing; some could not provide records. The department has initiated action for contraventions of various provisions under the Drugs Rules 1945,' said an official from the Drug Control department. This is the second such major drive after one-and-a-half years. Before this, the department had been focusing on fast-moving drugs. 'This was a special drive conducted to check cancer drugs that are moving in the market. In case some samples are found to be spurious, counterfeit, or grossly substandard, the department intends to take stern legal action against the offenders, including prosecution in the court of law,' said an official. Sources said that out of the total samples collected, over 70% are cancer drugs. Some of the samples include: -Imatinib Tablets (Veenat 400), which are used alone or together with other medicines to treat different types of cancer or bone marrow conditions. -Imatinib 100 mg, which kills or stops the growth of cancer cells. -Capegard 500, used in the treatment of cancer of the breast, colon, and rectum. -Armotraz tablet, which is used to treat breast cancer in women who have gone through menopause. -Hydroxyurea Capsules IP 500 mg (Leukocel 500) to treat cancer of the white blood cells called chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). -Cycloxan tablet, which is used to treat cancer and nephrotic syndrome (kidney disease). 'The reports will likely come in the next three to four weeks. Some samples have been sent to labs outside Delhi as well,' the official added. Another official said Delhi is a transit point for these spurious drugs. 'Bhagirath Place is one of the transit points for such spurious drugs, which then go to different states — including Agra in Uttar Pradesh, Patna in Bihar, and cities in Jharkhand — where there are high incidents of spurious drugs. In Delhi, retailers are more cautious,' said the official. –

20 Covid cases in Manipur; Governor reviews preparedness
States » East Imphal, June 16 (UNI) Manipur has 20 Covid cases with addition of seven new cases on Monday. Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla chaired a Covid-19 review meeting at the Conference Hall, Raj Bhavan. The review was held in view of recent directives from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, on enhanced preparedness amid rising concerns of a possible Covid-19 resurgence. Officials briefed the Governor on the state's preparedness, including diagnostics, protective equipment, oxygen supply, ICU and isolation wards, essential drugs, and the IDSP–IHIP portal. Challenges related to testing capacity, medical supplies and hospital readiness were also discussed. Governor advised the importance of proactive measures, adequate medical infrastructure, and community awareness to ensure the state remains equipped to handle any potential surge in Covid cases.
