Horror last moments of father who boiled himself to death in huge pot
A self-proclaimed 'magic man' tragically died after steaming himself in a bid to 'purify his body and soul'. In 2017, 'Black Dog' Lim Ba suffered a fatal heart attack and second-degree burns during the perilous ritual inside a large metal pot with flames beneath. It comes as a father took his own life, live on TV, as his devastated children watched at home. Lim, 68, was carrying out a "human steaming" performance during a Nine Emperor God prayer ceremony at the Chinese temple Kuala Sanglang Qinglong, in Malaysia's Suala Sanglang. Worshippers first suspected trouble when frantic banging from within the searing "human steam" cover could be heard roughly 30 minutes into the performance. They quickly lifted the cover to discover him unconscious, reports the Express. Horrifying footage shows Lim Ba convulsing uncontrollably (Image: Youtube) Disturbing footage shows him shaking violently as people frantically attempt to drag him from the heat and place him on the floor. His arms keep jerking upwards as he's positioned down and someone dashes for assistance. The Taoist medium was declared dead at the location by paramedics. His youngest son, Kang Huai, 32, disclosed his father had started the steaming performance around 10pm that evening, reports the Mirror. He said his father was taking medication for hypertension and those watching knew when to lift the cover. He told Malaysia's The Star: "By the time the ambulance arrived, my father had stopped breathing. He underwent a heart bypass last year due to on-and-off breathing difficulties." Horrifying footage shows Lim Ba convulsing uncontrollably (Image: Youtube) Despite constant appeals to cease, Lim had been carrying out the human-steaming performance for more than a decade - once remaining inside for 75 minutes. During a show at a Nine Emperor Gods festival in Ayer Tawar, Perak, Kang Huai disclosed that food items including rice, sweet corn, and vegetarian buns were also positioned inside the wok for steaming. "My mother Ch'ng Siew Hong, my sisters and I are very sad. Our cheerful father has left us forever," he said. Lim's daughter Wei Ling, 37, revealed her father had moaned about the heat whilst travelling to the stunt and had lost his appetite. Lim was known as a Taoist medium, following the traditional Chinese faith which encourages living in balance with the Tao. The Federation of Taoist Associations of Malaysia (FTAM) president Tan Hoe Chioew said that these kinds of ceremonies weren't truly part of mainstream Taoist practices but were more similar to a fa shu (theurgy or magic) display. He added that such stunts were carried out to draw followers and showcase the performer's physical stamina.

Podcast Corner: Was Taylor's album announcment a new era in podcasting or Swiftienomics?
Taylor Swift picked her boyfriend's podcast to announce her new album last week — and 18 million people watched on YouTube. Does it herald the next, ahem, era of podcasting? Or, like her tours and her place in the music industry, is it simply Taylor Swift economics? New Heights launched in September 2022, offering NFL insider knowledge between two brothers and elite players, Travis and Jason Kelce. It reached new levels of interest after Travis and Taylor started dating; producer Brandon shared a small note last week from the July 2023 episode that he says 'changed everything' — an ad read with the nudge for 'Any personal anecdotes. Travis, did you go to the Eras Tour?' Taylor Swift, often seen at her boyfriend's NFL games since, was by his side on the season premiere of New Heights on August 14, announcing all the details of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, in her first in-depth interview in years. As Ethan Millman wrote in the Hollywood Reporter: 'This was safe. No moment carried any risk. Anything Swift didn't want out in the world won't ever see the light of day. And so, Swift could relax.' Taylor Swift: The Life of A Showgirl As of Monday morning, the two-hour episode has more than 18.3 million views on YouTube. For comparison, the Joe Rogan Experience's biggest hit — Bob Lazar and Jeremy Corbell in 2019 — has 64 million views after six years. Swift's episode peaked at more than 1.3m concurrent live viewers — Donald Trump's appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience last year had 800,000 concurrent live viewers and currently sits on 59 million total views. Per the AP, the most-watched podcast episode ever on YouTube, is Abdulrahman Abu Maleh's interview with relationship coach Yasser Hazimi for Secrets to Thriving Relationships from the Saudi Arabian company Thmanyah. In two years it has racked up 144 million views. So is Swift's appearance on New Heights the peak of 2025's new era of video podcasts? YouTube official Tim Katz, in an interview with Vulture earlier this year, said: 'I think there's an element of community when somebody actually sees the podcast host or the content — there's something about them watching that is more engaging. They feel a connection with that podcaster in a unique way that goes beyond what you can get from audio alone.' People wanted to see Taylor Swift, wanted to hear about the new album. Many watched the two-hour episode like they would a hot new show on Netflix. Previously the word 'podcast' conjured narrative hits such as West Cork and Serial. New Heights' season premiere arrived barely two weeks after Wondery — the studio behind Dr Death, American Scandal and, indeed, New Heights — announced 110 job cuts, moving its narrative shows to Audible (Amazon purchased Wondery in 2021). In podcasting, as in pop, there's Taylor Swift — and then there's everybody else.

Molly-Mae Hague shares worries after daughter bites other children
Molly-Mae Hague has revealed that her daughter, Bambi, has been biting other children and shared her worries about the habit. Speaking candidly to her followers on YouTube, the influencer opened up about her parenting and said that the two-year-old had bitten two other kids at nursery. Molly-Mae stated: 'It's the complete opposite of what I want my child to be.' Molly-Mae discussed her daughter's biting habits. Pic: MollyMae/YouTube She also discussed the dilemma she faced over taking Bambi for ice cream after the incident because she was concerned she would view it as a 'reward for bad behaviour'. Molly-Mae explained how her older sister Zoe-Rae thought it was a bad idea to give the little girl a treat, but she was still unsure how to tackle the situation. The former Love Island star also added that she had resorted to asking ChatGPT for help. Opening up about the biting, she said: 'I got a call from nursery today to tell me that she has bitten another child at nursery. This isn't the first time it's happened. 'Basically, at her nursery at the minute, there's a bit of a biting pandemic going on, and all of the children are biting one another. 'I got a call the other day to tell me that she'd been bitten, and she came home with a full-on bite mark on her arm. 'I wasn't even cross or upset about it because I knew it would be a matter of days before they'd call me to say she'd done the same thing back to another child. 'I feel like, especially in her nursery, they're all seeing each other doing it and copying the behaviour basically.' The influencer is not sure how to handle the situation. Pic: Molly-Mae Hague/Instagram Molly-Mae shares her only child with her fellow Love Island contestant Tommy Fury. The influencer admitted that she wasn't sure about the nursery's 'gentle parenting' approach because she didn't know if Bambi would know it was wrong. She continued: 'So I got a call from her key worker to say that she'd bitten again today and I just feel like – is taking her for ice cream later on, rewarding her and doing something nice, when she's done something at nursery that's really not good? 'But equally, I don't even know if I should bring attention to it. When it happened the other week, I decided to go with the method of not bringing attention to it at all. 'So not talking about it, because I think they do it because maybe they want a reaction, or she wants a rise, or she wants us to talk about it. 'So I didn't talk about it at all, but that method's clearly not worked because she's gone into nursery and done it again today so even with no reaction, it's still happening. 'She's getting the reaction she wants…if we're all talking about it.' Molly-Mae spoke candidly to her followers. Pic: MollyMae/YouTube Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury had a high-profile separation in 2024 but rekindled their romance earlier this year. Fans of the couple were thrilled to learn of their child's arrival in January 2023. Molly-Mae added: 'One of my good friends her daughter is in the same class and her daughter has been bitten like every day this week it's really really sad, it's horrible. 'But equally the children in her room at the moment are at an age where trying to explain to them… 'It's confusing because if we talk to her about it when we put her in the car, are we giving her the attention that she wants from the biting. 'But if I was listening to this video right now I'd be thinking no you need to tell her it's not okay. Because it's not okay. 'It's so embarrassing for me because it's the complete opposite of what I want my child to be. All I want her to be in this life is kind, gentle, caring, lovely and just like so lovely to the people around her. That's what I want her to be to her core. 'And her biting is just so far removed from who I want her to be. Equally she is two and a half and she is testing boundaries. Also it's hard because at their nursery their way of disciplining is that they don't really discipline. 'They have very much a gentle parenting approach on the accident report form that I got about the bite. They were like we've told her that her mouth is for chewing and for eating her food, for biting down on food and nothing else. Tommy and Molly-Mae rekindled their romance earlier this year. Pic: Molly-Mae Hague/Instagram 'I think that she knows the environment she's in she is not going to get told off, there's not going to be an issue when she does bite. She's not going to have anything taken off of her, or put on a naughty step – or really be told no. 'But then, is that the right approach? Because clearly whatever is going on now isn't working because it is the second time that it has happened. 'So I don't know, I'm a bit stuck on this one. Probably going to get some comments on… I don't know what the right thing is to do. 'I asked Chat GPT for some advice, I know people will probably have something to say about this because it's AI and controversial. 'Controversial is my middle name at the moment. But I got some really incredible advice. So I explained the full situation and her age etc. Told them what we're struggling with and how to discipline.' The 26-year-old explained the advice was not to punish Bambi twice because she will be unable to link the negative repercussions in the afternoon to the incident which took place in the morning. The influencer received plenty of support and advice from her fans afterwards.
