India evacuated 3,426 Indian nationals from Iran, 818 from Israel in Operation Sindhu: MEA
New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India, so far have evacuated 3,426 Indian nationals from Iran and 818 Indian nationals from Israel in Operation Sindhu.
Addressing a weekly briefing on Thursday, Jaiswal said, "We launched Operation Sindhu on the 18th of June. We have around 10,000 people from the Indian community in Iran, around 40,000 people in Israel who are Indian nationals."
"From Iran, we have so far evacuated 3,426 Indian nationals, 11 OCI cardholders, 9 Nepalese nationals and some Sri Lankan nationals as well. I'll give you the exact figure. Plus one Iranian national who happens to be the spouse of an Indian national. In all, we mounted 14 flights to bring back Indian nationals from Iran. These flights, they flew from Mashhad, as well as from Yerevan in Armenia, and Ashgabat, Turkmenistan," he added.
Further, Jaiswal confirmed that, "one more flight is to come from or is on its way from Armenia and it will land later this evening. With that, we would have completed all the people who wish to be evacuated from Iran and they would be back home."
In Israel, 818 Indian nationals were evacuated in four flights. Due to Israel's closed airspace, Indians were taken to Jordan and Egypt, from where special flights were operated to bring them back home. The MEA expressed gratitude to the governments of Egypt, Jordan, and Israel for their support.
"As far as Israel is concerned, we have so far evacuated 818 Indian nationals in four flights. As you are aware, the airspace in Israel was closed, so we had to take our people to bordering countries, that is Jordan and Egypt, and from both these countries they were put on special flights and they came back home. We are thankful to the governments of Egypt, Jordan for this support," he said.
"Our embassies in Israel, in Jordan, in Egypt, collaborated very closely with the ministry headquarters here in mounting this operation. Once again, we'd like to thank the governments of Israel, Jordan, and Egypt for the support in Operation Sindhu," he added.
Jaiswal also thanked the governments of Iran for opening their airspace for evacuation.
"We made a request and they hope to open the airspace for us to evacuate our nationals. We are grateful to the government of Iran for this special gesture. We are also thankful to the government of Turkmenistan and Armenia for helping us evacuate our people," he said.

Trump says US-Iran talks likely next week, claims "destroyed" Iran's nuclear program
The Hague: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday claimed that American and Iranian officials would hold talks next week, raising hopes of longer-term peace following a fragile ceasefire, even as Tehran insisted it would not abandon its nuclear ambitions, The Times of Israel reported. Trump, speaking at the NATO Heads of State and Government summit in The Hague, said he wasn't particularly interested in restarting negotiations with Iran, asserting that US strikes had "destroyed" Iran's nuclear program. "We may sign an agreement, I don't know. To me, I don't think it's that necessary," Trump said. "The way I look at it, they fought, the war is done." However, Iran has not acknowledged any upcoming talks. An Iranian official questioned the credibility of the US after its strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend. The Iranian parliament also moved to fast-track legislation that would halt cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, The Times of Israel noted. Earlier, Trump described the ceasefire as "going very well," asserting that Iran would neither possess a nuclear bomb nor continue enrichment. "We destroyed the nuclear," he claimed. "It's blown up, to Kingdom Come... We're gonna meet with them actually." Trump also said he had asked US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to draft an agreement for Iran to sign. The Times of Israel reported that Israel launched airstrikes on June 13 targeting top Iranian military leaders, nuclear scientists, enrichment facilities and missile programs. On June 22, US strikes followed, hitting key Iranian nuclear sites including Natanz, Fordo and Isfahan. While Trump said the US and Iran would meet, it remains unclear whether talks would resume around the nuclear issue or a broader peace deal, as hinted earlier by White House envoy Steve Witkoff. Trump calls for "immediate" cancellation of Israeli PM's trial; says 'US will save Netanyahu'
Washington DC: US President Donald Trump has called for the "immediate" cancellation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's ongoing corruption trial, denouncing the proceedings as a politically motivated "witch hunt" by the Israeli judiciary, noting that it will be the US that will 'save' Israeli PM. In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday (local time), the US President expressed his shock over the continuation of the trial against Netanyahu, despite what he described as one of Israel's "greatest moments in history" referring to the recent Israeli strikes on Iran's nuclear and military infrastructure. "BREAKING NEWS... I was shocked to hear that the State of continuing its ridiculous Witch Hunt against their Great wartime Prime Minister! Bibi and I just went through HELL together, fighting a very tough and brilliant longtime enemy of Israel, Iran, and Bibi could not have been better, sharper, or stronger in his LOVE for the incredible Holy Land," Trump wrote, hailing Netanyahu as a "warrior" for his leadership during the recent military campaign. He also credited the Israeli PM's leadership for what he claimed was a "complete elimination" of Iran's near-term nuclear weapons capability. "Bibi Netanyahu was a WARRIOR, like perhaps no other Warrior in the History of Israel, and the result was something that nobody thought was possible, a complete elimination of potentially one of the biggest and most powerful Nuclear Weapons anywhere in the World, and it was going to happen, SOON!" Israeli PM Netanyahu is currently on trial for three separate alleged corruption charges, known as Case 1,000, 2,000, and 4,000, involving allegations of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust, as reported by Anadolu Agency. However, Netanyahu had consistently denied all accusations, dismissing them as "fake". His trial, which began in May 2020, marks the first time a sitting Israeli prime minister has taken the stand as a criminal defendant and under Israeli law, Netanyahu is not obligated to resign unless convicted by the Supreme Court, Anadolu Agency reported. In addition to that, the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague had also issued arrest warrants against the Israeli PM, accusing him of "crimes against humanity and war crimes".
