Hadinalku Koota Devarugala Jathra Mahotsava
began at Doddabala village of
Nagamangala Taluk
on Monday after a gap of 39 years.
The three-day temple festival is being held at
Shri Huchappaswamy Temple
. Chief minister Siddaramaiah will be visiting the temple at 11am on Tuesday, where he will participate in rituals and join devotees in the celebrations.
The festival, traditionally held once every 12 years, came to a standstill due to logistical challenges and the lack of adequate facilities for visiting devotees. With renewed efforts from local leaders, villagers, and the temple committee, preparations began afresh to bring back the revered festival. The fair was reinstated only after the reconstruction of the temple, a structure that holds a legacy of over 600 years. This revival has brought together communities from across the region, as the temple of Shri Huchappaswamy has long been regarded as a spiritual centre for divine protection, particularly during times of illness and epidemics.
The festival is marked by a unique tradition where devotees offer silver items such as bangles, chains, and anklets to the deity, fulfilling vows and seeking blessings—especially during major occasions like Shivaratri and Deepavali.

On Monday, the festival opened with deities from 14 village groups arriving in grand processions. The atmosphere was electrified with traditional art.
Tuesday will see sacred rituals including abhisheka, mahamangalarati, mudiseve, annasantarpane (community feast), and Ganga snana (ritual bath). Several ministers and dignitaries are expected to attend.
Wednesday will feature rituals such as Banni Mantapa Pooje, Hannutuppa Seve (offering of fruits and ghee), Shiva Pooje, Panaka Seve (offering of sweet drink) and Edurarati (evening prayer), followed by a grand procession.

Even mandatory green spaces are neglected or repurposed for unauthorised uses, which are contradictory to the approved building plan. "As per section 111 of the Guwahati Bylaws 2014, and section 111 and 114 of the Assam Unified Building Construction Bylaws, 2022, at least 20% of the land shall be utilised for tree plantation and greenery. This may be reduced to 10% only for housing projects where a minimum of 25% of floor area ratio is allocated for affordable housing," the directive states. The directive also stated that inspections and enforcement measures aim to enhance urban resilience, mitigate water crises, and promote environmental sustainability. Non-compliance could result in penalties such as occupancy certificate revocation, property sealing, and legal action under the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Act, 2017. Chandigarh: The UT deputy commissioner has instructed all departments to submit updated details of their available resources as part of the Centre's ongoing update of the Indian Disaster Resource Network (IDRN). The data will be uploaded on the IDRN portal to ensure better coordination and a clearer understanding of the equipment, supplies, and support systems required for effective crisis management. The DC has corresponded with several top officials and authorities, including the municipal commissioner, tourism director, social welfare director, engineering departments of the corporation, and the Red Cross nodal office, requesting prompt compliance. Despite these departments possessing resources, their precise details remain unregistered in the system. "It is requested to provide the details of resources and equipment available in your department or agency, such as rescue and emergency vehicles, communication devices, medical supplies, and rescue equipment.
