The Philippine staging of "Come From Away" is set to hold a sign language-interpreted performance for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community on Friday.
According to GMG Productions, they partnered with the Center for Education Advancement of the Deaf (CEAF) for the special show, which will take place on June 27, 8 p.m., at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati
"A dedicated section in the orchestra area has been reserved exclusively for our Deaf and hard-of-hearing community and their companions for this performance," GMG Productions added.
The Deaf and hard-of-hearing community and their companions are also entitled to a 20% ticket discount, with Persons with Disability (PWD) discounts applicable on top of the promo.

An inspiring tale of community and humanity, it tells the story of Gander's residents as they welcome these "come from aways" into their lives and homes and take care of them.
Kapuso Soul Balladeer Garrett Bolden stars in the musical's Philippine staging, alongside Gian Magdangal, Cathy Azanza-Dy, Caisa Borromeo, Mikkie Bradshaw-Volante, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Carla Guevara Laforteza, and more.
"Come From Away" runs until June 29. Tickets.

'Les Misérables' adds more shows in Manila, now extended until March 2026

'Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular' in Manila is officially getting extended! Originally set to run from January 20 to February 15, 2026, the international production will now finish its Manila run on March 1, 2026, at The Theatre at Solaire, giving audiences an additional two weeks to see the international tour. High ticket demand prompted Cameron Mackintosh, in association with Nick Grace Management and GMG Productions, to add the two-week extension to the Manila season. 'From the moment we announced Les Misérables: The World Tour Spectacular, it was clear how deeply the show resonated with Filipino audiences,' said GMG Productions CEO Carlos Candal. "This production is a version of the show that has never been seen before on the Manila stage, and we're thrilled that even more fans will now get the chance to experience it," he added. An expanded staging of "Les Misérables: The Staged Concert," which ran for over 200 performances in London's West End, the World Tour production will feature newly designed sets and lighting, an international all-star cast, and a live orchestra made up of Filipino and foreign musicians. The full cast, meanwhile, will be announced in the coming months. The upcoming tour coincides with the 40th anniversary of the original production, promising a breathtaking reimagining of the musical 'on a scale the Philippines has never seen before.' Based on Victor Hugo's novel, 'Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular' has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, and original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel. It will be directed by James Powell and Jean-Pierre Van Der Spuy, with set design by Matt Kinley and costumes by Andreane Neofitou, Christine Rowland, and Paul Wills. The final 'Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular' show dates have been released, and tickets are available exclusively through TicketWorld beginning Monday. — Hermes Joy Tunac, Sherylin Untalan/LA, GMA Integrated News

'Freakier Friday' and its quiet nod to Filipino culture

Warning: This story contains mild spoilers. Beyond its life lessons, standout performances, and nostalgic charm, "Freakier Friday" also offers a subtle touch of Filipino representation, making the film even more relatable to Pinoy audiences. To begin with, the sequel's leading man, Eric, is played by Filipino-Canadian rising star Manny Jacinto. Born to Filipino parents, Manny moved to Canada with his family at the age of three, and proudly represents his roots both on and off screen. Instead of simply letting Manny play a vaguely Asian character, "Freakier Friday" actually straightforwardly references Philippine elements. Manila mention Eric is a chef who moved from London to Los Angeles to open his restaurant, and while little is known about his background, it is implied that his character, much like his real life actor, is of Filipino descent. This is hinted at in a heartwarming scene where his parents meet Anna's family over a wedding luncheon. His mother, speaking with a distinct Filipino accent, mentions their long flight from Manila to Los Angeles. 'Mano po, Lola' The loudest declaration of the family's Filipino roots is the "mano po" scene. The traditional Filipino gesture of respect toward elders, where one takes the hand of an elder and gently presses it to their forehead while saying, 'Mano po,' was included in a scene where Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis), inhabited by Eric's teenage daughter Lily (Sophia Hammons), respectfully greets her grandparents with a heartfelt 'Mano po, Lola,' accompanied by a subtle bow. A sequel to the 2003 cult classic 'Freaky Friday,' the film also stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. It is now showing in Philippine cinemas nationwide. On its premiere night, Manny made a stop in Manila and spoke with fans and the press. 'It feels like a dream. Honestly, I never would have thought that I'd be, you know, I was born here [Philippines] so like a local boy that gets to act opposite Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis is wild to me,' Manny said. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
