Town centre club evacuated as fire breaks out
A long-established private members' club had to be evacuated when fire broke out.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the Northampton and County Club in George Row at 14:45 BST on Thursday.
It added that the fire was already out when firefighters got there and was likely to have been caused by discarded smoking materials.
West Northamptonshire Council said the polling station at the nearby Guildhall would be open as planned until 22:00 BST despite the fire.
The fire and rescue service said teams from three fire stations attended.
"On arrival, crews discovered that a fire had taken place on a wooden bridge between two properties on the street.
"The building had also been evacuated," a spokesperson said.

How to watch Rangers vs Celtic: TV channel and live stream for Old Firm derby in Scottish Premiership today
Barry Ferguson takes charge of his first Old Firm derby at Ibrox as Rangers host Celtic today (Getty Images) Rangers host Celtic in the final Old Firm derby of the Scottish Premiership season today. This is Celtic's first fixture since being crowned champions of Scotland once again with an impressive 5-0 victory over Dundee United last weekend. Advertisement CLICK HERE TO FOLLOW RANGERS VS CELTIC LIVE! Whilst it is the club's 55th title in their history and fourth in a row, they will not receive a guard of honour from Rangers before kick-off. Usually whenever a league title is won, in the very next game, the champions are clapped onto the pitch by the opposition but Barry Ferguson revealed that his side will not be following that tradition this afternoon. The decision could add spice to a fixture that has very little riding on it, aside from the usual bragging rights. Rangers have won the last two Old Firm derby meetings - including a 3-0 success at Ibrox at the beginning of the year - but go into this meeting in poor form as they are without a victory in their last five games across all competitions. Advertisement Celtic, meanwhile, have scored 15 goals in their last three outings and will be out to celebrate their latest title win in style. Here's everything you need to know about where to watch the game. How to watch Rangers vs Celtic TV channel: The game will be broadcast on Sky Sports. Coverage starts at 11am BST on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football ahead of a 12pm kick-off. Live stream: Subscribers will be able to watch via the Sky Go app. LIVE coverage: Follow all the action with Standard Sport's dedicated match blog!
