Summit in Pune, organised by his ministry in collaboration with the Maharashtra government, Pawan Hans and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

"And I would say that these efforts are not only enhancing connectivity but also reshaping our economic destiny," he said.
Naidu added that for the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, viksit aviation is going to play a key and pivotal role.

"For that, we all have to strategically build a future aviation system for the country which promotes helicopters and small aircrafts and makes it a very critical component in our vision," he added.
Announcing the establishment of a dedicated helicopter directorate under the DGCA, the minister said, "The directorate will serve as a single-window platform for providing oversight in regulatory and addressing helicopter specific safety and certification issues and assisting operators with procedural requirements." "And I am so assured that this is going to be a significant step in the administrative bottlenecks that many of you used to face before," he said.
He also emphasized building a robust safety culture.
"Safety of the pilgrims must remain our top priority. There can be no shortcuts, no room for communication errors and no margin for poor decision-making. We must build a culture of trust, dialogue and discipline which I feel is a shared responsibility between the Centre, the states and the operators," he said.

, Chardham, he said the safety of pilgrims and operations can be challenging.
"While reviewing some of the incidents, you can see that it is quite challenging in the mountainous terrain," he said.
Naidu added that operational difficulties should never be the excuse for anyone.
"So, that is something where we have to step up the game, create a much better safety system around the operations that we have today," he added.
Naidu shared his vision to promote helicopters and small aircraft as essential components of a futuristic
aviation ecosystem
.
"I believe the next decade of aviation will be defined not just by large aircraft and mega airports but by modern and inclusive air solutions. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, helicopters and small aircraft are at the heart of our mission to democratise flying," he added.

Parliament panel seeks 'full autonomy' for DGCA, citing 'safety gaps'
NEW DELHI: Noting that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is not in a position to fully discharge its mandate, the parliamentary standing committee on transport, tourism and culture has recommended 'full administrative and financial autonomy' for the civil aviation regulator. In its report, Overall Review of Safety in the Civil Aviation Sector, tabled in the Upper House on Wednesday, the panel flagged issues including air traffic controller (ATC) fatigue, safety deficiencies, operational overload and inadequate infrastructure, particularly staff shortages. Autonomy was described as essential to address critical technical staff gaps arising from an ineffective recruitment model — a concern highlighted by past expert committees but left unaddressed, the committee, chaired by Janata Dal-United (JDU) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, said. Data presented to the committee showed that out of 1,063 sanctioned posts, only 553 are filled. 'The alternative channel, recruiting personnel on deputation, has proven equally ineffective, particularly for sourcing talent from the Indian Air Force. Experienced Air Force officers are unwilling to join the DGCA on deputation because doing so entails a significant loss of service benefits and allowances, rendering the proposition financially unattractive. Consequently, posts reserved for this vital stream of expertise remain chronically unfilled,' the report said. The committee identified 12 key areas requiring systemic improvement to ensure safety and the sustainable growth of India's aviation sector. The report assumes significance in the wake of the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12 that killed 260 people. However, the incident did not feature in the report. The panel recommended developing a national Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) for air traffic controllers (ATCOs) and a comprehensive staffing audit to end the long-standing practice of seeking exemptions from mandatory duty-time limits. Referring to four helicopter accidents during the recent Char Dham Yatra, it also called for standardised safety protocols — a uniform national regulatory framework — for helicopter operations. Emphasising stronger surveillance and enforcement, the committee urged a time-bound mechanism for closing all safety deficiencies, with priority given to serious Level I cases, and tougher enforcement measures including financial penalties for non-compliance. In its findings, the panel noted that unresolved Level II deficiencies had risen sharply this year, signalling serious lapses. 'For 2025, up to the month of April, surveillance activities had already detected 4,692 deficiencies. Of these, only 945 had been rectified, leaving a staggering 3,747 deficiencies pending. Further, this backlog included 37 unresolved Level I deficiencies, which represent serious safety lapses requiring immediate attention,' the committee said.

Lack of hydrogen infra hurdle in expanding green public transport: Gadkari
Shortage of hydrogen filling stations and the lack of transportation infrastructure for the fuel are major challenges in expanding the green public transport network, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, said on Wednesday. 'In the coming days, green public transport is our future. Hydrogen buses are currently running on routes such as Delhi–Agra, Pune–Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram–Kochi. However, the biggest problem is the hydrogen filling stations and transport of hydrogen in which there needs to be a lot of work done,' he said while addressing the 24th Darbari Seth Memorial Lecture organised by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Delhi. Gadkari underlined the need to shift away from private vehicles by offering airline-like facilities in public transport at lower costs. He cited the example of Nagpur's flash-charging electric bus system, which he said is more comfortable and cheaper than diesel-fuelled buses. The minister suggested that municipal waste could be converted to green hydrogen to make it cheaper and more viable. Gadkari also stressed that building 'smart villages' is as important as developing smart cities. Deploying new technologies in critical areas like water, land, and forests can ensure rural growth along with creation of employment opportunities, he said. He also said India must strive to become energy self-sufficient, moving from being a net importer to a net exporter of energy. While traditional power companies are under financial stress, the expansion of solar energy and nuclear power could help strengthen the sector, he added.
