RB Leipzig's Antonio Nusa sustains knee injury
RB Leipzig confirm that Antonio Nusa (19) sustained a knee injury during their 2-0 Bundesliga win against St. Pauli at the weekend and will be sidelined until the end of March.
Scans on Tuesday confirmed Nusa's injury, meaning the Norwegian attacker could miss Leipzig's next six games across all competitions, including a DFB Pokal quarter-final against Wolfsburg, and a Bundesliga game against Borussia Dortmund (March 15). Borussia Mönchengladbach will host the Saxony club on March 29.
'We're hoping that Antonio can recover quickly. This injury is obviously a blow to us – he's enjoyed a really strong debut season at RB Leipzig. We will do everything we can to compensate for the current absences as a team,' said Marcel Schäfer, Leipzig's Managing Director.
Nusa arrived from Club Brugge in August 2024 for €21m and has since played 32 games across all competitions under Marco Rose, scoring five and creating seven. It's a blow to Leipzig, who confirmed last week that Xaver Schlager had also suffered an injury setback.

Liverpool submit new £113 million bid for Florian Wirtz
Liverpool have submitted a new bid of £113 million to Bayer Leverkusen for playmaker Florian Wirtz, according to The Times. The new proposal will see the Reds pay £100 million guaranteed, plus another £13 million in bonuses. Unfortunately, it is still short of Bayer Leverkusen's demands. Advertisement Die Werkself want £126 million (€150 million) to let Wirtz go, but Liverpool do not want to match that exorbitant fee. Despite the report from The Times, other reliable sources suggest that all parties will still agree on a deal, as the player is keen on a move to Anfield. While many ponder whether the German international is worth the eye-watering sum, his numbers have been consistently elite. Wirtz joined Bayer Leverkusen from FC Koln at the age of 16. Within weeks of turning 17, he was already making his Bundesliga debut. Weeks later, he scored against Bayern Munich to become the youngest-ever Bundesliga goalscorer at 17 years and 34 days (at the time). He has proven his mettle through the years. Advertisement Wirtz was a standout as Leverkusen won the domestic double last term and reached the Europa League final. They did not reach those heights this term, but he finished with 16 goals and 14 assists. Wirtz ranked eighth for progressive passes in the Bundesliga this season (155). Last term, he made and received the third most progressive passes in the German top flight. This makes excellent reading for a number 10 who operates between the lines. He also created 2.1 chances from open play per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga this season (min. 1,000 minutes). That was more than any of his Leverkusen teammates, while only Mohamed Salah averaged more for Liverpool (2.3) in the Premier League. Advertisement Wirtz executed the fourth-most carries in the Bundesliga this season (549). Only one player had more than his five assists following a carry. The Leverkusen star also attempted (165) and completed (82) the most dribbles in the Bundesliga this season. The underlying numbers are excellent, compelling Liverpool to break their transfer record. However, he will be under pressure to deliver if he gets the big-money move to England.

Arsenal in talks over €80m Benjamin Sesko signing
Arsenal are in negotiations with RB Leipzig over a deal to sign Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko. Mikel Arteta has narrowed his search for a striker down to two options, with Sesko and Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres the two candidates. Arsenal are currently focused on Sesko and discussions are underway with Leipzig over a deal. Advertisement The German side will demand that Sesko's release clause is met, which currently stands in excess of €80m (£67.2m). Sky Germany are reporting that it is unclear whether Arsenal can meet that figure but talks over a transfer and potential payment structure are ongoing. Earlier this week, there was a meeting between Leipzig's Marcel Schäfer and Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta in London. Sesko is a long-standing target for Arsenal, who approached Leipzig over a deal last summer. The 21-year-old turned down a move to the Premier League in favour of signing a new contract, but is now keen to explore his options. Leipzig are expected to sell Sesko and Xavi Simons in the summer window after failing to secure European football. Why Arsenal want to sign Benjamin Sesko Sesko is regarded as one of Europe's best centre-forward prospects and has scored 39 goals in 87 games since joining Leipzig from sister-club Red Bull Salzburg. At international level, he's scored 16 times in 41 caps for Slovenia. Advertisement The 6ft 5in forward would offer Arsenal another aerial presence at set-pieces, with Arteta's side emerging as one of Europe's most prolific teams from set-plays in recent seasons. Arsenal struggled in the absence of a centre-forward over the second half of last season. Kai Havertz, whose season was virtually curtailed in February due to a hamstring injury, was the club's leading league scorer with nine goals. It was the first season 1923/24 that Arsenal failed to have a player reach 10+ league goals in a campaign. Bayern Munich Ponder €80M Raid for Man Utd, Liverpool Target With PSG Sell-on Clause
PSG sold Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig earlier this year, resulting in Liverpool and Manchester United showing serious interest in the Dutch midfielder. Moreover, the deal included a sell-on clause, meaning PSG could cash in again if Leipzig decides to move him on. According to Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig paid €80 million total—€55 million up front—and Simons signed a deal through June 2027. Still, there's no certainty he'll see out that contract in Germany. Advertisement With the summer transfer window approaching, speculation around Simons' future is heating up. CaughtOffside reports that Manchester United may have the upper hand over City in the chase to land him. Could Bayern Munich beat Liverpool for former PSG ace?Fichajes reports that Bayern Munich view Xavi Simons as a strong fit for their plans, but RB Leipzig's asking price could be a major hurdle. The Red Bull-owned club, facing the setback of missing out on European competition, has already made Simons available for transfer. Leipzig are reportedly demanding around €80 million, which has forced Bayern Munich to think carefully about whether they're ready to commit to such a significant investment. Advertisement Simons' camp is reportedly watching Bayern Munich's next steps. While the interest from the Bavarian side is serious, any deal will likely hinge on potential departures from the squad—and whether deeper-pocketed clubs decide to make a move for the talented Dutchman. Empire of the Kop recently reported that Liverpool are preparing an opening bid of around €60 million ($67.8 million) for the Netherlands international playmaker, as Arne Slot aims to boost his attack for next season. However, despite Slot's desire to make this player his first summer signing, the offer will likely fall short. RB Leipzig are reportedly holding out for closer to €80 million ($90.4 million).
