Under ‘Oraniyil Tamil Nadu', 30% voters in a booth should be made DMK members: Stalin
Thirty percent of the voters should be members of the DMK by the next Assembly election, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said in a special resolution at the party general council meeting held in Madurai on Sunday.
To strive for another term in the government and to fight for the rights of the State, the people of Tamil Nadu should be brought under an umbrella in the upcoming Assembly election. 'Under 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu', booth-committee members should visit every doorstep in their areas to explain to them about the schemes and the State's fights for achieving its autonomy,' he said.
He called for expanding the party membership and told cadres that at least 30% of the voters in a booth limit should be members of the party. In the next two months, all party cadre starting from district level to branch level, should have achieved the targets earmarked for them, Mr. Stalin said
He directed the district secretaries and constituency in-charges to vigorously monitor the enrolment drive. They were asked to ensure that the targets were met within the coming months, adding that he would personally supervise the enrolment drive.
While addressing the general council members, Mr. Stalin recalled some of DMK's significant political developments in Madurai district. Anti-Hindi agitations in 1963, march (padayatra) for Tiruchendur issue in 1982 started in Madurai. After the task of leading the DMK youth wing was entrusted with him, the long journey started with a speech at Jhansi Rani Park in Madurai, he said. 'The general council meeting which happens in such a place will definitely boost the spirit of the party and cadre to fight against the authoritarian powers to achieve State autonomy,' he said.
During the meeting, an announcement was made to create two new party wings for differently abled and academicians. Minister P.Moorthy, who organised the meeting, was appreciated by Mr. Stalin.

This was the second round of talks between political parties and the Yunus-headed interim govt on the election - pending since last year following the fall of the Hasina-led govt. In Monday's meeting, all but three political parties have demanded elections by Dec, Gono Odhikar Parishad chief Nurul Haque Nur said. Yunus expressed optimism about finalising a broadly accepted 'July Charter' - an agreement built through collective understanding among parties after the ouster of the Hasina govt. Salahuddin hoped Yunus will consider Dec for conducting the election. He also argued the commission has already taken significant time and election before year-end remains feasible. "Full consensus may not be support reforms that benefit the nation and ensure inclusion of all," he added.

Madrid [Spain], June 3 (ANI): Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi, who is leading the all-party delegation to Spain, said that the delegation met Spain's Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares and received a very positive response from him and assured support to India in its fight against terrorism. In an interview with ANI, Kanimozhi said that the Members of Parliament also met the association that supports terror victims and termed it a 'positive day' for the delegation. She said that the delegation had a 'good discussion' with the Spain-India Council on what was happening and looked forward to a better long-term relationship with India. On meetings in Spain, DMK MP said, 'The delegation met with the foreign minister of Spain, we met the Senate and we had a meeting with the Spain India Council and the first thing in the morning, we had a meeting with the association which supports victims of terror. So, we had the opportunity to meet all these people today and it was a very positive day. People here are very keenly following what has happened in India and the terror attacks in India and we got a very positive response from the foreign minister who is already in touch with the Minister of External Affairs of India Mr Jaishankar and he assured us of support when India wants to fight against terrorism and bring an end to this. 'Also, the Spain-India Council, we had a very good discussion about and a debate about what was happening and they seem to be completely informed and they're really looking forward to a better long-term relationship with India. So, on the whole, it was a very positive day and we definitely have lessons to take back from here. Dutch Far-Right Leader Threatens To Quit Ruling Coalition Over Migration Plan
Amsterdam: Dutch far-right leader Geert Wilders threatened on Monday to topple the Netherlands' already fragile right-wing government, which he said did not back his ideas for stricter asylum policies. Anti-Muslim populist Wilders, who won the most recent election in the Netherlands, last week demanded immediate support for his proposals to completely halt asylum migration, send Syrian refugees back to their home country and to close asylum shelters. Coalition partners have not embraced his ideas, and have pointed out that it is up to the migration minister from Wilders' own party to work on specific proposals. After meeting government party leaders on Monday evening, Wilders said this was not enough to secure his continued support for the coalition. "We have a serious problem," he told reporters. "We will take it up again tomorrow morning, but it does not look good." The coalition led by Wilders' PVV party has struggled to reach any consensus since its installation in July last year, and needs to tackle tough decisions in the coming months, including a possible historic increase in military spending to meet new NATO targets. Recent polls have shown Wilders has lost support since joining government, putting his party roughly at par with the Labour/Green combination that is currently the second-largest in parliament.
