7-year-old boy falls into drain while chasing kite in Delhi��s Welcome area
According to the police, the incident took place near Lakdi Market Puliya, where the boy, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was playing in the area.
'We received a call in the evening regarding a child falling into a drain. A team immediately reached the spot and found that the boy had slipped into the water while chasing a kite," a senior police officer said.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) was alerted and a search and rescue operation was launched with the help of local divers and personnel from the Fire Department. However, the operation had to be called off late in the evening due to poor visibility.
'The search will resume early Saturday morning with additional manpower and equipment," the officer said, adding that efforts are being made to block the flow of water in certain sections of the drain to aid the search.
The police said all possible assistance is being provided to the boy's family, and further investigation is underway. PTI SSJ KSS KSS

The woman, a resident of Wadala, reportedly lost her entire savings within two days earlier this month after falling victim to an online fraud, an officer said. According to the complaint, on August 4, she received a call from a man who introduced himself as 'Deepak," claiming to be an executive of a milk company. He sent her a link on her phone and instructed her to fill in her details to complete the order. 'She was asked to click on the link while staying on the call and follow instructions. The call lasted for over an hour before she hung up," the official said. The following day, the same caller allegedly contacted her again and extracted additional information. Days later, during a visit to her bank, the woman discovered that Rs 1.7 lakh had been withdrawn from one of her accounts. On checking her other two accounts, she found they too had been wiped out. Noida Cab Driver Who Held Family 'Hostage' Arrested; Cops Find 2 Aadhaar Cards
Mohan, along with his wife and four-year-old daughter, had just begun their cab ride when the situation took a terrifying turn. The cab driver who held a family 'hostage" during their ride in Noida has now been arrested, reported PTI, citing officials on Saturday. The Noida Police stated that they have found two Aadhaar cards from the accused, one in the name of 'Nasim' and another in the name of 'Sonu'. Meanwhile, the incident dates back to Thursday afternoon, when one Sanjay Mohan booked a cab for Delhi's Connaught Place from his home in Greater Noida. Mohan, along with his wife and four-year-old daughter, had just begun their cab ride when the situation took a terrifying turn. As the vehicle approached Parthala Bridge in Noida, the police signalled the driver to pull over. Instead of complying, the driver accelerated abruptly, breaking through barricades, according to police reports. Shocked and alarmed by the sudden move, the couple pleaded with the driver to stop and let them out. But their requests were ignored as he continued to drive recklessly for several kilometres, attempting to evade a PCR van in pursuit, officials said. The couple kept pleading, but the driver refused to stop. After managing to outrun the police, he briefly halted the vehicle for just a few seconds at TP Nagar. The moment the family stepped out, he sped away, police said. The entire incident was caught on camera by the police, and it later went viral on social media platforms, prompting action from authorities. UP Man, On The Run For 26 Years After Saudi Arabia Murder, Arrested By CBI In Delhi
Last Updated: Mohammad Dilshad, who was working as a heavy motor mechanic and security guard in Saudi Arabia, and is accused of murdering a person in Riyadh in 1999. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a man from Uttar Pradesh, who was reportedly on the run for 26 years after murdering another person in Saudi Arabia in 1999, at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport The suspect was identified as Mohammad Dilshad, 52, a resident of UP's Bijnor. Dilshad was apprehended at the Delhi Airport on August 11, as he was returning from the Saudi city of Medinah under a new identity and passport. Dilshad, who was working as a heavy motor mechanic and security guard in 1999, and is accused of murdering a person in Riyadh at that time, probe officials told news agency ANI. He later evaded authorities in Saudi Arabia and fled to India. Dilshad allegedly committed the murder at the same premises where he was working as a mechanic-cum-security guard in Riyadh. He had been untraceable since fleeing to India. The accused assumed a new identity and passport, through which he continued to evade authorities, officials added. His new passport allowed him to frequently visit Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia during the period. The CBI registered a case against Dilshad in April 2022 at the request of Saudi Arabia and a Look Out Circular (LOC) was also issued against him. The agency also gained various leads and human intelligence that allowed officials to detect his new passport. The CBI also traced his native village in Bijnor. During the course of the investigation, it was found out that the accused used to travel abroad, using a different identity acquired by deceitful means, officials informed. Despite the opening of the LOC, he remained elusive. Dilshad, who was unaware of the development, conveniently arrived at Delhi's IGI airport on Monday, after which the immigration department alerted the CBI. Dilshad was soon taken into custody and produced before the court.
