NDTV12 hours ago

The USA-based electric car manufacturer - Tesla, has rolled out minor updates to its Model S sedan and Model X SUV for buyers around the world. These changes focus on practical improvements, like better range, increased comfort, and quieter cabins, while keeping the core design of the vehicles untouched.
Tesla Model S & Model X: Exterior Changes
The updates to the exterior are subtle. Both models now have updated alloy wheels, 19-inches for the Model S and 20-inches for the Model X with options to upgrade to 21-inches and 22-inches respectively.
The Plaid trims feature sportier bumpers, designed for better stability at high speeds. Additionally, Plaid versions now come with a forward-facing camera and a new "Frost Blue" paint option.
Tesla Model S & Model X: Interior Updates
Tesla has worked on the improvement of the cabin's comfort and NVH levels. The interior features customizable ambient lighting with new color options and an updated welcome sequence for drivers and passengers. Active Noise Cancellation has also been improved, reducing outside noise, especially on highways.
One notable change is that the yoke-style steering wheel is now only available on Plaid models and is no longer standard on other versions.
Tesla Model S & Model X: Range and Performance Upgrades
Tesla's latest models feature a notable increase in range. The Model S Long Range now offers up to 660 km on a single charge, making it the longest-range option from Tesla to date. However, these enhancements come with some trade-offs. The top speed of the Model S Plaid has been reduced from 321 kmph to 240 kmph, for which Tesla has not provided specific reasons.
The Model X has also seen improvements, with the Long Range version achieving 567 km and the Plaid version reaching 539 km, which is an increase of 61 km and 33 km, respectively.
Tesla Model S & Model X: Price
The updated Model S and Model X come with a price increase of 5,000 USD (approximately Rs 4.3 Lakh). Tesla refers to these changes as an upgrade rather than a full redesign.

Osaka Gas India expands rapidly, eyes sustainable growth and clean energy future

Osaka [Japan], June 16 (ANI): Japanese energy giant Osaka Gas, established in 1987, is making significant strides in India's energy sector. With a legacy of expertise in gas production, supply, and pipeline infrastructure, the company also maintains a strong presence in electricity generation. Following successful expansions across Asia, the United States, and Australia, Osaka Gas launched its Indian subsidiary, Osaka Gas India, in 2021. Now, four years later, the company is charting an ambitious course for clean and sustainable energy in the country. In an exclusive interview, Takeshi Shinohara, Managing Director of Osaka Gas India, reflected on the company's journey and expanding role in the Indian energy landscape. 'In just four years, Osaka Gas India's operational area has expanded to cover 10% of India's land--roughly equivalent to the size of Japan,' said Shinohara. In India, Osaka Gas is actively engaged in city gas supply and pipeline construction, working in partnership with Chennai-based firm Think Gas. This collaboration has enabled the rapid development of urban gas infrastructure and ensured efficient energy distribution. The company's long-term vision for India rests on three foundational pillars. The first is its traditional strength in city gas operations. The second is a growing focus on renewable energy. In partnership with Indian clean energy leader CleanMax, Osaka Gas India is generating electricity through solar and wind power, serving industrial clients that demand environmentally sustainable energy. 'Our success so far has been made possible through strong partnerships with trusted Indian companies,' Shinohara noted. The third and most forward-looking pillar is E-Methane, a clean fuel alternative combining city gas with hydrogen derived from renewable sources. This innovative approach results in a circulative energy model that dramatically reduces carbon emissions. 'By combining city gas with hydrogen derived from renewable energy sources, E-Methane offers a sustainable, circulative energy solution that significantly reduces CO2 emissions,' said Shinohara. Shinohara emphasized that India's economic momentum and social transformation are fueling demand for smarter, greener energy options. 'India's rising economic power and dynamic society will drive increasing demand for cleaner and more efficient energy solutions in the coming years,' he said. Unlike passive financial investors, Osaka Gas operates with a 'hands-on' philosophy, committed to transferring technical knowledge and building long-term capabilities within India. 'Real Scene, Real Material, Reality,' Shinohara stated, describing the company's core principles. 'This reflects our deep commitment to operational excellence and grounded experience.' Looking ahead, Osaka Gas sees India as an integral part of its global future. 'By 2030, India will become a major pillar of Osaka Gas's global business,' he predicted. Yet, Shinohara also highlighted the stark developmental contrasts between India's urban centers and rural heartlands, particularly in agricultural regions. 'Osaka Gas India aims for real symbiosis with Indian society by combining our global experience with local understanding,' he concluded. As India undergoes a profound transformation in its energy landscape, Osaka Gas India's integrated approach--grounded in innovation, collaboration, and sustainability--could play a pivotal role in shaping the country's clean energy future. AI, machine learningto help explore mineralwealth, mining in state

1 2 3 Jaipur: In a transformative step in the mining sector, the state govt will launch a pilot project deploying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for mineral exploration in the state. The first exploration will be conducted in Bhilwara and Bharatpur districts. Principal secretary, mines and geology, T Ravikant, said, "The project will be executed by the Rajasthan State Mineral Exploration Trust (RSMET) in collaboration with a central govt-notified private exploration agency. Potential zones for critical and strategic minerals will be identified through AI-based analysis in these regions, including select parts of Chittorgarh." The state now leads the country in major mineral auctions and witnessed a significant surge in mining revenues. With 82 identified mineral types and ongoing extraction of 57, govt aims to accelerate the exploration and mining of mineral wealth beneath the surface. "Drilling and chemical analysis will be conducted at AI-identified locations. Based on the findings, mining blocks will be prepared for auction. Unlike conventional exploration methods, which are time-consuming and costly, AI integration will ensure scientific accuracy while saving time, labour, and resources," Ravikant said. The Hyderabad-based Critical Mineral Tracker, a central govt-notified private agency, will carry out the exploration by analysing data from various sources, including govt records, satellite mapping, and ground-penetrating radar.
