Watch: A Heartbreaking Video on Boycott Israel Strikes Social Media

Leaders15-04-2025
A heartbreaking boycott video went viral on social media featuring touching images for Gaza children accompanied by a heart-melting tune and a catchy chorus that greatly provided an emotional anchor.
The lyrics depicted how Israeli-linked brands are key partners in Gaza's genocide through their support to the Israeli occupation.
The video calls all people to help Gaza by boycotting all global brands that offer any kind of support to Israel. The Lyrics of the Song
A child lies cold on Gaza's sand
His fate engraved by ruthless hand
The world turns blind, yet cannot deny
The brands that help the children die
You sip your Coca-Cola sweet,
But hear the cries beneath your feet.
The Pepsi fizz may cool your tongue,
But fuels the guns where death is sung.
With every bite of Nestle's treat,
You taste the loss of life's defeat.
The Timberland upon your sole,
Treads on the dreams that once were whole.
Rise, and break the silent chain,
No longer feed this endless pain.
Each boycott strikes a louder chord,
For peace that is stronger than the sword.
And IBM, with tech so fine,
Still hides the blood in every line.
Each dollar spent, each coin you send,
Brings closer to an unjust end.
Rise, and break the silent chain,
No longer feed this endless pain.
Each boycott strikes a louder chord,
For peace that is stronger than the sword.

Brings closer to an unjust end.
Rise, and break the silent chain,
No longer feed this endless pain.
Each boycott strikes a louder chord,

Join the fight with heart and mind,
Reject the brands that rob the blind.
For every coin you choose to spare,
A life is saved, a breath of air.
Stand tall, united, free from hate,
Let Justice be the hand of fate.
For when we rise, the truth shall tell:
We end the reign of war and hell. Gaza War
Since the beginning of Hamas-Israel War in Gaza in 2023, the Israeli strikes have killed at least 50,983 Palestinians and wounded more than 115,338, according to Gaza's Health Ministry.
Israel's ongoing attacks on Gaza have urged countries, activists, and even individuals to launch boycott campaigns as a way to press on global brands to cut relations with Israel. Unprecedented Progress for Boycott
In a recent interview with Al-Jazeera Documentary, Founder of the Boycott and Divestment Movement (BDS), Omar Barghouti, stated that two years ago, there were no countries supporting the military embargo on Israel, not even South Africa.
However, 'Today, we have 53 countries that officially called for the military embargo on Israel,' Barghouti said.
Barghouti mentioned that McDonald's is suffering tremendously because of the BDS campaign.
In the cultural sphere, Barghouti highlighted that approximately 7,000 publishers and writers have joined the cultural boycott of Israel.
'Are you a student or an academic or a nurse, or an engineer, or a social activist? it really depends on where you are, because BDS is not just about products boycott, it is that obviously, but it is also about divestment which requires more power,' he said. Bangladeshi Public Oath for Boycott
Over 1 million Bangladeshis flocked to streets on Saturday to join the country's largest Gaza solidarity rally and call for boycotting all Israel-related products, according to Arab News.
The people raised the flags of Bangladesh and Palestine and chanted 'Free Palestine,' 'Stop the Israeli aggression,' and 'Boycott Israeli products.'
The rally brough together politicians, celebrities, artists, poets and popular social media influencers under the organization of the Palestine Solidarity Movement Bangladesh.
The event served as a strong call on world leaders and international community to bring Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others responsible for committing a bloody genocide in Gaza to justice.
In this regard, politicians called for international accountability and immediate end to Israel's bloody offensive on Gaza, noting that such aggression has killed more than 50,900 people and wounded 116,000.
'We will boycott every product, company, and force that sustains Israel's occupation … We will start from our own homes, leaving an imprint of this pledge in language, history, education, economy, and society,' the declaration of the rally read.
Furthermore, protesters asked the government to reactivate the 'except Israel' clause in Bangladeshi passports, which had prevented nationals from traveling to Israel. Although the fact that there are no diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Israel, the previous administration of Sheikh Hasina has emitted the clause in 2021.

Starmer condemns Bob Vylan's 'appalling' chants against Israeli military

LONDON — The prime minister has condemned UK punk duo Bob Vylan for urging "death" to Israeli troops in what he called "appalling hate speech". Glastonbury Festival organizers have also said they were "appalled" after frontman rapper Bobby Vylan led chants of "free, free Palestine" and "death, death to the IDF [Israel Defense Forces]". In a statement, Sir Keir Starmer said the BBC had questions to answer over its live broadcast of the group's performance on Saturday. A BBC spokesperson previously said some of the comments were "deeply offensive", adding it had issued a warning on screen about "very strong and discriminatory language". The set will not be available on BBC iPlayer. Sir Keir has also criticized Kneecap saying ahead of the festival that their appearance was not "appropriate". The Irish-language rap group have previously described Israel's military action in Gaza as a genocide. He said: "There is no excuse for this kind of appalling hate speech. "I said that Kneecap should not be given a platform and that goes for any other performers making threats or inciting violence." The prime minister is the latest in a string of cabinet ministers to denounce Bobby Vylan's comments in the 24 hours since the group appeared at Glastonbury. Directly after the set, a government spokesperson said Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy had pressed BBC boss Tim Davie for an urgent explanation of the broadcaster's vetting process. The government added that it welcomed the decision not to re-broadcast the performance on BBC iPlayer. Shadow home secretary Chris Philp said it was "clear" the rapper was "inciting violence and hatred" and should be prosecuted. In a post shared on X on Sunday, he also called on the police to "urgently investigate and prosecute the BBC" who he claimed "appear to have also broken the law". "Our national broadcaster should not be transmitting hateful material designed to incite violence and conflict," he said. The BBC has been asked for further comment. Speaking to the BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg program earlier, Health Secretary Wes Streeting said Bob Vylan's comments were "revolting". He said the "irony of that music festival is that Israelis were taken from a music festival, killed, raped and in some cases are still being held captive". A joint Instagram post from Glastonbury Festival and organizer Emily Eavis on Sunday said the event stood "against all forms of war and terrorism", and that with almost 4,000 performances on site "there will inevitably be artists and speakers appearing on our stages whose views we do not share". "However, we are appalled by the statements made from the West Holts stage by Bob Vylan yesterday," it continued. "Their chants very much crossed a line and we are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the festival that there is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech or incitement to violence." Bob Vylan are an English punk duo based in London. Bobby Vylan serves as the singer and guitarist, while Bobbie Vylan is the drummer of the band. Both members use stage names to maintain their privacy and collectively refer to themselves as "the Bobs". Antisemitism campaigners said they will formally complain to the BBC over its "outrageous decision" to broadcast the act live. The Campaign Against Antisemitism group said in a post on X that Glastonbury had "continued its headlong descent into a pit of extremism and hatred, but it is the behaviour of the BBC that is even more dangerous". It said it would formally complain to the BBC for broadcasting the performance, as well as that of Kneecap. The BBC did not run a live broadcast of Kneecap's set due to editorial concerns around impartiality, but on Sunday announced the set had been made available on iPlayer, with some edits. It said the content had been edited to ensure it "falls within the limits of artistic expression in line with our editorial guidelines" and any strong language had been signposted with "appropriate warnings". Kneecap has made headlines in recent months after rapper Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, who performs under the name Mo Chara, was charged with a terrorism offence. He is accused of displaying the flag of Hezbollah at a gig last year. He has denied the charge. Following sets from both groups, Avon and Somerset Police said it would review footage of comments made by acts on the West Holts Stage. The force said footage "will be assessed by officers to determine whether any offences may have been committed that would require a criminal investigation". Kneecap's highly-charged performance on Saturday was watched by thousands as they hit back at Sir Keir with expletive-laden chants. Ó hAnnaidh continues to be on bail and will appear at court for the next hearing on 20 August. Separately on Sunday, the Met Police said it will not pursue prosecution after videos emerged in April appearing to show Kneecap calling for the death of British MPs. "A range of offenses were considered as part of the investigation. However, given the time elapsed between the events in the video and the video being brought to police attention, any potential summary-only offenses were beyond the statutory time limit for prosecution," the force said. — BBC

From Gaza to Joy: Ms. Rachel and Rahaf's Inspiring Dance

In a world often shadowed by conflict and despair, a moment of pure joy and resilience recently captured millions of hearts. Rahaf Saad, a four-year-old Palestinian girl who lost her legs in an Israeli airstrike, danced with YouTube star Ms. Rachel. Their video, set to the tune of 'Wake up soon Wake up little bunnies! Hop little bunnies hop … Skip little bunnies skip skip skip Skip skip skip and stop Let's hop again!', has went viral, garnering millions of views, showcasing Rahaf's indomitable spirit and Ms. Rachel's unwavering support. Rahaf's Journey of Resilience Rahaf Saad, now four years old, lost her legs in an Israeli airstrike on her family home in September 2024. Despite her tragic circumstances, Rahaf's spirit remains unbroken. She traveled for treatment thanks to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, but she still struggles with mobility. During her dance with Ms. Rachel, Rahaf often stumbled but always got back up, eager to continue. Ms. Rachel described Rahaf as 'so precious' and highlighted her resilience, stating, 'She would fall right on her face but then pop back up, wanting to hop like a bunny'. Rachel Griffin Accurso, known to millions as Ms. Rachel, has been a vocal advocate for children's rights and education. Her meeting with Rahaf was not just a dance but a powerful statement of solidarity. Ms. Rachel shared her emotional turmoil, saying, 'I can't help but think, what if my son and husband were over there, and I'm here with my little girl, losing her legs? And then, I'm thinking about the boys and she was saying they don't eat anymore and they are starving'. This encounter underscores the devastating impact of the conflict on innocent lives and the urgent need for humanitarian aid. The Power of Support and Resilience Ms. Rachel's advocacy extends beyond Rahaf. She has faced backlash for her support of Palestinian children but remains steadfast. 'It's a vivid reminder of how when children have what they need—like medical care, healthy food, and support—they are going to thrive and show such resilience,' she said. Her commitment to speaking out for children facing immeasurable suffering is a testament to her belief that 'it should be controversial to not say anything'. A Call to Action Rahaf's story is a poignant reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the power of compassion. As Ms. Rachel continues to advocate for children in Gaza, she calls on the world to pay attention and take action. 'When I saw pictures of Rahaf in Gaza on the hospital floor, I saw the devastating consequences of endless bombing and continuous violations of children's human rights,' she shared. Her words and actions inspire us all to stand up for the innocent and vulnerable. In conclusion, the dance between Rahaf and Ms. Rachel is more than a viral video; it is a symbol of hope and resilience. It reminds us of the power of compassion and the urgent need to support children affected by conflict. As Ms. Rachel aptly put it, 'It's sad that people try to make it controversial when you speak out for children that are facing immeasurable suffering'. Let us all be inspired by Rahaf's spirit and Ms. Rachel's advocacy to make a difference in the world. Short link : Post Views: 1

In Photos: Highlights from 1st Week of Cannes Film Festival

The 78th Cannes International Film Festival has witnessed the usual glitz and glamour, along with a special focus on politics, according to AFP. The festival highlighted several controversial moments that took place during the first week. Red carpet dress code US actress Halle Berry The 2025 festival has banned extravagantly large dresses and 'total nudity' on the red carpet. Hollywood star Halle Berry was the most high-profile victim of this ban as she was forced to change her wardrobe on opening night. This change came after she judged her dress by Indian designer Gaurav Gupta to be too long. However, other people have broken the rules such as German model Heidi Klum, who appeared in a frilly pink evening gown with a train that was nearly three meters (10 feet) long. Cruise show Tom Cruise After screening his film 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,' Tom Cruise has achieved remarkable success in the festival. Director Christopher McQuarrie stated that Cruise, who decided to perform dangerous scenes by himself, took his risk-taking a little far during a shoot in South Africa and could have died. 'He was laying on the wing of the plane. His arms were hanging over the front of the wing. We could not tell if he was conscious or not,' McQuarrie added. Actors-turned-directors Kristen Stewart's directorial debut 'The Chronology of Water' premiered at Cannes Film Festival. This year's edition features three works by actors who have recently started their careers as directors. The event has commended Harris Dickinson, the 28-year-old 'Babygirl' actor, for his first film 'Urchin'. Meanwhile, 'Twilight' star Kristen Stewart, 35, has surprised audience with her talent behind the camera in 'The Chronology of Water'. Furthermore, American A-lister Scarlett Johansson is set to reveal her debut film 'Eleanor the Great' to audiences on Monday. Gaza War Palestinian photojournalist Fatima Hassouna On the eve of festival, approximately 400 top film figures signed an open letter condemning both Israel for committing 'genocide' in Gaza and the film industry for its 'passivity'. Therefore, Gaza War has become a crucial topic during the festival. Importantly, the festival has screened a wrenching documentary about Palestinian photojournalist Fatima Hassouna, killed in an Israeli air strike on her home in Gaza. Before her demise, Hassouna collaborated with Iranian filmmaker Sepideh Farsi to produce a documentary on how people live in Gaza during Israel's ongoing genocide. The Israeli airstrike that targeted Hassouna's family home in Gaza came just a day after Acid, a Cannes sidebar dedicated to independent cinema, announced the selection of her work. Moreover, the attack killed nine of her family members. 'If I die, I want a loud death. I don't want to be in a breaking news story, nor in a number with a group. I want a death that is heard by the world, a trace that lasts forever, and immortal images that neither time nor place can bury,' Hassouna wrote this post before her death. Trump era Pedro Pascal at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in Cannes The US President Donald Trump has been also one of the major topics in Cannes after stating on May 5 that he wanted to take 100-percent tariffs on movies 'produced in foreign lands'. As a response, actors, directors and producers have rejected the idea and described it as bad and self-defeating. Meanwhile, others have joined De Niro's calls to resist Trump, including Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal, who urged Hollywood to fight those who tried to make them scared.
