Ex-Perak coach Teong Kim awarded RM1.04mil in unfair dismissal case
Industrial Court chairman D. Paramalingam said the award was based on the remaining 16 months of Teong Kim's two-year contract, which was terminated on May 24, 2023, just eight months into his tenure.
The 61-year-old was earning RM65,000 a month and the court ruled that Perak FC's decision to sack him mid-season over poor results was "premature and unjustified".
Paramalingam noted that the club's finances were already under strain due to its "dwindling fortunes" even before Teong Kim took charge and that the allegations of misconduct levelled against him were not serious enough to warrant termination.
Teong Kim, who earned 60 caps playing for Malaysia from 1982 to 1996, boasts more than two decades of coaching experience.
He spent 12 years with Bayern Munich's youth set-up from 2000 to 2012 and later served as the head of Malaysia's National Football Development Programme and coach of the national Under-16 squad.

Duo caught red-handed stealing petrol from motorcycle at Johor apartments
ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have detained two people for stealing petrol from a motorcycle at an apartment block in Tanjung Kupang, here, today. District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan said the two — a Pakistani man and a local woman — were first detained by the apartment's auxiliary policemen before being handed over to police. He confirmed a viral video of the incident and that a 28-year-old local woman had lodged a police report over the incident. "The complainant reported that about 7.30am today, she and her husband, 29, became aware of two people stealing petrol from the husband's motorcycle. "With the help of the apartment's auxiliary policemen, the duo were detained," he said. Kumarasan said a police team later detained the foreigner, 38, and his 60-year-old female accomplice. He said checks showed that both did not have criminal records, while urine tests returned negative for drug use. "(From the two), police seized two bottles containing petrol and a pair of scissors," he said, adding that a remand application for them would be sought tomorrow at the Johor Baru magistrate's court. Kumarasan said investigations were being carried out under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft, which carries a jail term of up to seven years or a fine, or both, upon conviction. Investigations against the foreigner are also being carried out under Section 15)1)(c) of the Immigration Act for overstaying. The punishment such an offence is a fine of up to RM10,000 or jail of not more than five years, or both, upon conviction.

GOF seizes RM89k worth of illegal firecrackers in Rantau Panjang
KOTA BHARU: A team from the General Operations Force (GOF) 8th Battalion seized 70 sacks of ball firecrackers worth approximately RM89,000 during Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan. The operation took place at an illegal crossing near Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas. Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid, GOF Southeast Brigade commander, confirmed the seizure occurred at 1.30 pm yesterday. Authorities noticed a suspicious vehicle during surveillance. The driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped by boat towards Thailand upon spotting the police. A thorough inspection revealed 70 sacks of firecrackers suspected for local distribution. All confiscated items were transferred to the Pasir Mas district police headquarters for further action. The case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957. - Bernama
