Children's park, affiliated institutions handed over to Ernakulam CWC
The park was illegally occupied by an Ernakulam-based independent organisation, claiming to be the CWC, for around 25 years. The CWC approached the HC as the organisation was mismanaging the huge income generated from the facility. 'We demanded to hand over the administration of the park to the District CWC. Though the government had renovated the park, several areas are currently lying uninhabited due to a lack of proper maintenance,' said State CWC general secretary G L Arun Gopi.
The day-to-day administration of the children's park, theatre and other facilities has now been handed over to the Ernakulam District CWC. Former Ernakulam district collector N S K Umesh issued an order on the same on July 23 based on the interim order of the High Court and the legal advice of the advocate general.
The facility was handed over to the district committee in the presence of State Administrative Committee member Adv Yesudas Parappally, District CWC secretary Adv Sunil Hareendran, vice-president Adv K S Arun Kumar and others.
Meanwhile, Arun made allegations of financial fraud. 'We have evidence showing that the independent organisation has been committing financial fraud under the guise of maintaining the children's park for years. An investigation is under way,' said Arun, adding that the children's theatre and childcare centre attached to the children's park will be operational within a month.

CBI busts fake call centre in Nashik, accused targeted US, Canada citizens
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has busted a large-scale cyber fraud racket operating out of a rented premise in Igatpuri in Maharashtra's Nashik. Five men have been arrested for allegedly running a fake Amazon support call centre that targeted people in the US, Canada and other case was registered on August 8 against six Mumbai-based men, unknown private individuals and bank to the FIR, the accused allegedly conspired to cheat foreign nationals by posing as Amazon customer service agents, making phishing and deceptive calls to dupe them into sending gift cards or cryptocurrency. Officials also recovered unaccounted cash worth Rs 1.2 crore, 500 grams of gold, seven luxury cars worth Rs 1 crore, and detected cryptocurrency transactions of about 5,000 USDT (Rs 5 lakh) along with gift vouchers worth 2,000 Canadian dollars (Rs 1.26 lakh).The arrested accused have been identified as Vishal Yadav, Shebaz, Durgesh, Abhay Raj alias Raja, and Sameer alias Kalia alias investigation is underway to trace the remaining accused and the money trail.- EndsMust Watch

Kadapa police arrest red sanders smuggler, seize over 1 tonne of logs
Andhra Pradesh, Aug 10 (PTI) Red sanders smuggler Naga Dastagiri Reddy and five others were arrested in YSR Kadapa district, and 52 logs weighing 1,087 kg were seized, police said on Sunday. The arrests were made on August 9 in a joint operation by the Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) and Chapadu village police, who also seized two cars and a motorcycle used to transport the contraband. Besides Dastagiri Reddy, the accused include his accomplices Rama Mohan Reddy, Krishnayya, Srinivasulu, Obula Reddy, and Balagangi Reddy, police added. 'Dastagiri Reddy was earlier a most-wanted red sanders smuggler. In Kadapa district alone, 86 red sanders cases and 34 theft cases have been registered against him," Kadapa district Superintendent of Police E G Ashok Kumar told reporters. Police added that the accused operated mainly from the Palakonda and Lankamala forests with close associates. The arrests followed a vehicle check at Chapadu mandal, where police intercepted two cars carrying the logs. The SP warned that anyone caught cutting, selling, buying, hiding, or smuggling red sanders would face non-bailable charges, and repeat offenders could be booked under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act. Police said Dastagiri Reddy's wife is also facing red sanders smuggling charges and is currently in judicial custody. Other family members are also allegedly involved in the trade, with hundreds of cases and multiple PD Act orders against them, police added. Earlier, police had arrested Delhi-based Saleem and Hyderabad hawala operator Vikramsing Solanki for allegedly funding the smuggling operations. Special teams have been formed to track down other major smugglers linked to the network, police added. Three Class VI students in Shimla have gone missing; Parents receive threatening calls from US number
CHANDIGARH: Three Class VI students of one of the country's most prestigious and oldest boarding schools in Shimla have gone missing since yesterday when they went out for their regular weekly outing. The parents allegedly received threatening calls from a US-based number. Sources said the three missing students have been identified as Vedansh Bharti from Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, Angad Lather from Karnal in Haryana, and Hitender Singh from Mohali in Punjab. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the New Shimla Police Station on charges of kidnapping of minor children under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A police official said that a case has been registered on the basis of the complaint submitted by the school principal, in which he stated that the three students had moved out of the school on the outing day towards Mall Road in Shimla but did not return before the scheduled time. The boys left the school at 12.09 pm on Saturday and did not return by 5 pm.
