Celtics Analyst Takes Shot at Knicks After Game 2

Yahoo10-05-2025

Two games between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks have had a rinse and repeat of the same storyline. The Celtics jump out in front and the Knicks refuse to go away.
The Knicks rallied to win Game 1 of this series 108-105 in overtime after trailing by 20 points. Once again, the biggest lead for the Celtics in Game 2 was 20 points. The Knicks were victorious, winning an incredibly tight 91-90 ball game.

The Knicks are now leaving Boston up 2-0 in this second-round matchup. With two games at Madison Square Garden, New York has every opportunity to either finish off the series or put a massive stranglehold on it.
The Knicks should be owed a lot of credit for their comeback efforts in these first two games. However, there are some who believe the series count has a lot more to do with the Celtics than it does the Knicks.

Celtics analyst throws ugly comparison at Knicks
Chris Forsberg and Kayla Burton of NBC Sports Boston sat down for a discussion after the conclusion of Game 2. Neither painted the most flattering picture of the Knicks, but in Burton's case, there was a clear insufficiency of credit for New York's efforts.

Burton said, "The frustrating thing is, it's not the Knicks. It's the Celtics losing grip. I don't think the Knicks are doing anything all too impressive."
The Celtics analyst continued: "They're competitive. They're tough. Mikal Bridges had zero points in the first half and all of a sudden he gets hot the second half. Jalen Brunson didn't have his best of games."
Forsberg then delivered the comparison of the night when it comes to New York.
"Let's say this, they're cockroaches," the NBC Sports insider said. "No matter what the Celtics do to put them in a compromised position, they do not just sit there and take it. They are willing to fight back. So I do want to give them credit."
Burton continued to be far less giving.

"But we're handing it to them," the analyst said of the Celtics. "We're handing it to them a little. We're playing scared. The Celtics are playing scared."

Whatever way the pair wants to slice it, the Knicks now have full command of this series, heading back to New York. Perhaps the cockroach comparison should actually be seen as flattering, all things considered.

Wake Forest baseball coach Tom Walter apologizes for using homophobic slur

Wake Forest baseball coach Tom Walter used a homophobic slur during the Demon Deacons' elimination game on Monday against the Tennessee Volunteers, a moment which was caught on camera by ESPN's broadcast and prompted an apology from Walter and the school on Tuesday. Walter was standing on the dugout step when he appeared to say an expletive, followed by the slur. At the time, Tennessee first baseman Andrew Fischer was batting, although it is unclear at whom the slur was directed. Fischer homered and Tennessee won the game 11-5 to advance to the Super Regionals. Wake Forest's season ended with the loss. Advertisement 'I am very sorry for my outburst in frustration last night and I recognize the hurt and disappointment it has caused,' Walter said in a statement issued by Wake Forest on Tuesday. 'I have seen the videos and while I do not remember the specific moment clearly, that language doesn't reflect my values or the standards of this program. Regardless, I own the consequences and I apologize to the University of Tennessee, to Wake Forest University, and the SEC & ACC.' In the same statement, Wake Forest vice president & director of athletics John Currie said: 'I am both surprised and deeply disappointed in our head baseball coach Tom Walter for his outburst during last night's baseball game. I feel badly for those most hurt by such words. I spoke with Coach Walter immediately after the game and again this morning to address this incident, which is completely out of character for him and does not meet the standards of Wake Forest Athletics, Wake Forest University or the Atlantic Coast Conference.' The NCAA's Office of Inclusion and Wake Forest's LGBTQ Center did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Walter's apology came a day after Florida baseball coach Kevin O'Sullivan and athletic director Scott Stricklin apologized for an expletive-filled tirade O'Sullivan directed at NCAA Tournament site officials because he was unhappy that the start of the Gators' game against East Carolina on Sunday was moved back.
