Barbara Walters Doc ‘Tell Me Everything' to Premeire on Hulu After Tribeca Premiere

Yahoo12-05-2025

'Barbara Walters Tell Me Everything,' a documentary about the iconic late journalist executive produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, has set its Hulu debut. The film will begin streaming on June 23 after having its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Walters, who died in December 2022, was famous for her work across programs like 'Today,' the ABC Evening News, '20/20' and 'The View.' Directed by journalist Jackie Jesko, 'Barbara Walters Tell Me Everything' charts Walters' career and personal life as well as 'the challenges she faced trying to balance it all as a woman in a male-dominated industry. Walters, in her own words, also reflects on the high price of fame and the legacy she hoped to inspire,' the official description reads. It utilizes unaired archival footage including interviews with Cindy Adams, Joy Behar, Connie Chung, Martin Clancy, Andy Cohen, Katie Couric, Peter Gethers, Lori Klein, Cynthia McFadden, Bette Midler, Victor Neufeld, David Sloan, Katie Nelson Thomson, Chris Vlasto and Oprah Winfrey.

Grazer and Howard's Imagine Documentary's banner produced 'Barbara Walters Tell Me Everything' for ABC News Studios in association with Latchkey Films. Along with Grazer and Howard, executive producers include Imagine's Justin Wilkes and Betsy West and ABC News Studios' Muriel Pearson and David Sloan. Marcella Steingart, Sara Bernstein and Meredith Kaulfers serve as producers for Imagine.
'ABC News broke new ground by hiring Barbara and putting a woman at the anchor desk which was the exclusive preserve of men,' said David Sloan, senior executive producer at ABC News. 'Her road was filled with peril and naysayers and navigating that was not without personal costs. Nevertheless, Barbara created a dazzling career that had no blueprint and changed broadcast journalism forever.'
Sara Bernstein, president of Imagine Documentaries, said, 'Barbara Walters was a true trailblazer. She not only changed the face of broadcast journalism and set the gold standard, but she completely transformed the culture's consumption of celebrity journalism, and in the process, inspired generations with her determination, brilliance and humanity. It's been a true privilege to collaborate with Jackie Jesko, Betsy West and the exceptional team at ABC News Studios. We can't wait to shine a light on Barbara's iconic story with the Hulu audience.'
'My hope for the film is that audiences feel they get to know the real Barbara, in all her complexities — her private struggles and her public triumphs,' said Jesko. 'Barbara stayed a television fixture for five decades, battling rampant sexism, fierce competition, and a constantly evolving media landscape. In today's world, where celebrities and politicians can choose to speak out on their own social media platforms instead of subjecting themselves to a news interviewer, Barbara's story gives us the opportunity to explore the changing relationship between journalism, fame, and truth.'

Billy Joel: 'Getting old sucks, but it's preferable to getting cremated'

Billy Joel quipped that "getting old sucks, but it's preferable to getting cremated" amid his battle with a brain disorder. The Piano Man was forced to cancel all of his tour dates for the rest of the year after he was diagnosed with a rare condition called Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), which is caused by a build-up of fluid in the brain, but he remains in good spirits amid his recovery. The co-director of his film Billy Joel: And So It Goes said at the Tribeca Film Festival screening on Wednesday (04.06.25), on his behalf: 'We know Billy wishes he were here tonight, and he asked us to convey that to you all. In fact, he said, 'Getting old sucks, but it's preferable to getting cremated.'" Joel recently axed all of his tour dates - including 17 dates in North America and England - but reports suggest he has no plans to retire despite the diagnosis. Announcing the news on social media, a statement from Joel's team read: "Billy Joel has announced that he will be cancelling all scheduled concerts following a recent diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance. "Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period. Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritising his health. "He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage." Billy added his own message to fans, saying: "I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding." Meanwhile, in Billy Joel: And So It Goes, it's revealed that Joel attempted suicide twice in his early 20s. He reflected in the film: 'I had no place to live. I was sleeping in laundromats and I was depressed I think to the point of almost being psychotic. "So I figured, 'That's it. I don't want to live anymore.' I was just in a lot of pain and it was sort of like why hang out, tomorrow is going to be just like today is and today sucks. So, I just thought I'd end it all."

The couple's happy news comes a few weeks after her brother Cody announced that he and his wife Erika are expecting their third baby together, sharing the exciting news on Instagram. In the sweet video, Cody and Erika spent time with their two little boys, Frank, 2, and Ford, 17 months. At the end of the video, which included clips from the family's day out, a box is lifted to reveal a white cake, which read, "Baby #3 Loading." "✨Gifford, party of cinco 🥹," Erika wrote in her caption. "🫧 Our little blessing on the way was prayed for, dreamed of, and is already so deeply loved. 20 weeks in and we can't wait to meet the newest member of our crew. 🩵🩷." This past July, Gifford opened up to PEOPLE about her special relationship with her grandsons. "I'm just so grateful for them. They're precious and they give me a purpose to get up every morning when everything else is just not the same for me," Gifford told PEOPLE. "Life is just so different and I just try to find joy when I can find it." "And the only place I can really find it is in the Word of God and in my grandsons," she continued. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kathie Lee Gifford (@kathielgifford) Earlier that summer, Gifford spoke with PEOPLE in June about how much she loves being a grandma, noting that it has also been nice to see her kids take on new roles. "I had my children later in life and I've certainly had my grandchildren later," Gifford told PEOPLE. "It is exactly what everybody's always told me, which seems like such a cliché. But clichés — they're real. Because they're true." "There is nothing like it in the whole world. To see my children, first of all, so in love with their spouses. I'm so grateful to God for that. They picked wisely. They're so in love and it makes me so happy," added the proud mom. Read the original article on People
