McQuarrie said, 'The conversations we've had about Les Grossman are so f**king funny. [Cruise and I are] talking about it, we're having very serious conversations about it, and how best to do it. It ultimately comes down to what that character is.'
Les Grossman fans may remember him as the mouthy, antagonistic producer who had quite the temper and infamous for his giant hands. McQuarrie also shared that thinking about the Les Grossman film allowed himself and Cruise to escape the filming of theFinal Reckoning, 'We don't even think about the structure, we play with scenes. Just to be sitting at a breakfast table, not talking about the movie we're making for a minute, is such decompression. And just riffing with Tom playing Les Grossman at the table, it was one of the real joys of making this movie. It was all the stuff we were doing, planning the future while slugging out the present.'
It remains to be seen if this film will come true.

Tom Cruise was so physically exhausted after a day of stunt work on his latest Mission: Impossible film he had to be carried by his crew. His longtime stunt coordinator and second unit director Wade Eastwood told The Times of London newspaper how drained the actor was by one particular stunt in the eighth (and apparently final) instalment of his hit franchise Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning – one which involved him walking on the wing of a small biplane mid-air. The wind hitting him, and the blast of the propeller, particles hitting him. It was the hardest workout you could ever do, it was very dangerous and very exhausting for him. Many times we were carrying him off the wing because he was so tired. And he was flying all day.' Eastwood has worked alongside Cruise since 2013 when they met on the set of Edge of Tomorrow. Eastwood said of Cruise's appetite for risk and doing his own stunts: 'Tom doesn't show fear, Tom shows competence. He had fun during all his stunts, even when it was exhausting. He's always positive, he'll always put on a smile, and he genuinely enjoys it.' Eastwood has served as stunt coordinator on the last four Mission:Impossible films and recalls his favourite moment of all, which came in the seventh film Dead Reckoning Part One – Cruise rode off a cliff-edge on a motorbike. Eastwood revealed that the actor had trained for over a year in motocross and skydiving to perform the stunt, which involved more than 500 skydives and 13,000 motocross jumps. Asked if Cruise would soon retire from such physical demands, Eastwood demurred: 'No, no chance. He's a machine. He acts like a 20-year-old. And there's no magic there, it's just hard work and discipline with his food, nutrition and training.' Tom Cruise awarded Guinness World Record for stunt in 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning'
He's hung off planes during flight, performed a real HALO jump out of a plane at 25,000 feet, scaled and run across the Burj Khalifa building and found new ways of cheating death throughout the Mission: Impossible franchise. Now, Tom Cruise has bagged himself a Guinness World Record thanks to his performance in this year's Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Cruise, aged 62 and known for conducting his own stunts, has set the record for 'most burning parachute jumps by an individual' after jumping out of a helicopter 16 times with a fuel-soaked chute. 'Tom doesn't just play action heroes – he is an action hero!' said Craig Glenday, Guinness World Records editor-in-chief in a statement. 'A large part of his success can be chalked up to his absolute focus on authenticity and pushing the boundaries of what a leading man can do. It's an honour to be able to recognize his utter fearlessness with this new Guinness World Records title.' The sequence was filmed in Drakensberg, South Africa. Cruise and the stunt team ascended more than 7,500 feet before the action star jumped out of a helicopter with the flaming parachute, cutting himself free to deploy a backup parachute. 16 times. The first parachute would burn for between 2.5 to 3 seconds before completely disintegrating, and for several of the takes, Cruise even had a 50 lb. snorri camera rig attached to his body for a closer shot of the stunt. The leading man also holds the record for the actor with the most consecutive $100-million-grossing movies. In total, the Top Gun star has been credited in over 30 films that have broken the $100 million mark at the box office. The last 11 of those have been consecutive, starting with Jack Reacher in 2012 – followed by Oblivion, Edge of Tomorrow, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, The Mummy, American Made, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Top Gun: Maverick, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. 'Tom is no stranger to record breaking,' explains Glenday. 'Over his impressively long and consistent career, he's proved himself to be the most powerful actor in Hollywood and the most bankable star, and he's still the actor with the most consecutive $100 million movies on their resume and the most successful leading action hero at the worldwide box office.' Combined, the Mission: Impossible franchise has brought in nearly $5 billion since Cruise starred in (and produced) the first film adaptation of the classic television series in 1996.
