PMK founder Ramadoss urges police to stop his son Anbumanis padayatra
Villupuram, Jul 24 (PTI) Pattali Makkal Katchi founder-leader S Ramadoss on Thursday said police authorities must ban his son Anbumani's padayatra considering the potential for law and order disturbances in north Tamil Nadu.
The octogenarian leader referred to Anbumani's proposed padayatra and said it is scheduled to begin on July 25 and his party has lodged a plaint in this regard with a top police official.
Speaking to reporters at his Thailapuram-Tindivanam residence near here, he said: 'We have lodged a complaint against the padayatra with the Director General of Police (DGP) seeking action (against the padayatra). Since there is a scope for law and order issues cropping up in north Tamil Nadu, the police should take more precaution and they must ban it (the padayatra)." Further, Ramadoss said though he was aware of who planted the bugging device in his residence and also the objective behind it, he would not make any comment right away as it could jeopardise the ongoing police investigation. The PMK founder said no other leader had to face such a situation.
PMK leader Anbumani's statewide tour, christened, 'Anbumani's padayatra to retrieve Tamil Nadu people's rights," is all set to commence on July 25 from Tiruporur near Chennai and culminate in Dharmapuri on November 1.
The logo with the tagline 'Anbumani's padayatra to retrieve right, save a generation," was unveiled on July 23.
Anbumani's allegation is that the DMK regime is preventing the Tamil Nadu people from exercising 10 kinds of fundamental rights granted to all the people by the Constitution.
The rights are, Right to social justice, Women's right to a life free from violence, Right to employment, Right to agriculture and food, Right to grow, develop, Right to good governance and basic services, Right to education, Right to be not affected by alcohol and drugs.
Two other rights are related to sustainable urban growth and healthy environment and the objective is retrieval of all such basic rights for the sake of the people. PTI VGN VGN ROH

A recent investigative report released by Indian security agencies offers conclusive evidence that the perpetrators of the April 22 Pahalgam massacre — where 26 tourists were gunned down in Baisaran Valley — were Pakistani nationals affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The findings are based on a combination of forensic, digital, and testimonial evidence gathered during and after Operation Maadev, the July 28 encounter. The three terrorists — Suleman Shah (alias Faizal Jatt), Abu Hamza (alias 'Afghan"), and Yasir (alias 'Jibran") — were all high-ranking LeT commanders. None were local Kashmiris, as initially speculated based on preliminary sketches released after the massacre. These sketches were later discredited and linked to an unrelated December 2024 incident. Recovered evidence paints a detailed picture. Two of the assailants carried Pakistani voter ID cards with serials tied to electoral rolls in Lahore and Gujranwala. A micro-SD card retrieved from a damaged satellite phone contained NADRA biometric data, confirming their Pakistani citizenship and addresses in Kasur district and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Personal items like Pakistani-manufactured chocolates further corroborated their origin, with lot numbers traceable to consignments shipped to Muzaffarabad in 2024. Their infiltration route was tracked via intercepted radio signals dating back to May 2022, when they crossed the LoC near Gurez. They were later sheltered in a seasonal hut near Pahalgam by two locals — Parvaiz and Bashir Ahmad Jothar — who later confessed to aiding them. GPS data from one attacker's Garmin device and call logs from a Huawei satellite phone established their movements and linkages to operational control in Pakistan. Forensic analysis also confirmed the ballistics match between shell casings found at the massacre site and three AK-103 rifles recovered after the attackers were killed on July 28 in the Dachigam-Harwan forest belt. The report also ties the attack to LeT's command structure in Pakistan. Sajid Saifullah Jatt, LeT's south Kashmir operations chief, was identified as the key handler based in Lahore. Additionally, Rizwan Anees from Rawalkot coordinated posthumous funeral prayers in PoK for the slain terrorists. Speaking after finishing sixth in the 200m at the US track championships in Eugene, Oregon, Coleman expressed his belief that Richardson should not have been detained following the incident at Seattle-Tacoma Airport last Sunday. Richardson spent a night in jail after being detained, with a police report later stating that she was caught on video repeatedly shoving Coleman forcefully. Man Who Arrived From Dhaka Decades Ago Found Dead In Kolkata, Family Claims 'Deportation Fears'
Last Updated: The family alleged that the elderly man was worried about his deportation to Bangladesh in case NRC was implemented. An elderly man was found hanging in his residence in Kolkata on Sunday, officials said, adding that his family claimed he had been fearing deportation to Bangladesh if the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was implemented. The deceased was identified as Dilip Kumar Saha, 63, who arrived in Kolkata in 1972 from Nawabganj in Dhaka and had been residing in Anandapally West in the Regent Park area, an official said, citing initial investigation. He was employed as a non-teaching staff member at a private school in Dhakuria in south Kolkata. 'This morning, his wife called him several times, but received no response from inside his locked room. She then called their niece-in-law from a neighbouring house. They broke open the door to find him hanging from the ceiling fan," the officer said. His wife, Arati Saha, claimed he was worried that he would be sent back to Bangladesh after the NRC is implemented. 'He has been under severe stress for quite some time regarding this. There was no other tension. He came to Kolkata in his childhood. He was afraid that he would be sent to a detention camp and then pushed back to Bangladesh, where he had nobody. He had a valid voter ID card and other documents," she said. The cops recovered a suicide note from his room, adding that they are suspecting fear of deportation as a reason behind the extreme step. An investigation into the incident is underway. Power Minister and local Trinamool Congress MLA Arup Biswas went to the spot and talked to the family members. 'This is what the fear of being thrown out of the country could do to a man. What they (Centre) have started in the name of the SIR shows their anti-people attitude, and the result is in front of you," Biswas said.
