MRF witnesses the rise of two young Kayaking stars
This 10-year-old from Ernakulam is the youngest contestant in the festival this season, and his finishing the event in itself is considered a victory at his age due to which he is projected as a promising talent. Ryan, along with his 12-year-old sister Dona Marcella had the spotlight on them on the first day of the festival as several people, including villagers, stopped them to chat and click pictures with them. Dona had displayed her talent finishing fourth in the Intermediate Extreme Slalom event in the women's category.
This is not the first outing for Ryan and Dona at MRF. Both had participated in the previous edition. Students of St. Mary's Public School, Thamarachal, in Ernakulam, the siblings are well supported by their parents George Felix and Panimaya Priyadarshini, who themselves are flat water kayakers.
'I was tense at first. But once I entered the water, there was no time to think,' Ryan said, adding that he was happy to have finished without any problems, though he had a minor bruise on his shoulder after brushing on a rock during the event.
'This water is very turbulent and hence it is tough for a beginner to traverse. We saw several experienced kayakers failing and being rescued. This makes Ryan's performance noteworthy,' said his mother Panimaya. He had trained under several professional Kayakers from Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, especially national champion Amit Thapa, in April-May this year.
George Felix and Panimaya had taken to kayaking during the pandemic as a pastime influenced by a few friends. But it soon became their passion that inspired them to ensure professional training for their children in the sport. 'We do not have many kayakers to represent India in the smaller age groups. We definitely hope Ryan and Dona will make us proud by representing the nation,' Panimaya said.

The achievement of Ramesh Budihal, who created history as the first Indian surfer to qualify for the Open Men's final at the ASF Asian Surfing Championships 2025, gives a fillip to the attempts by Kerala Tourism to make the State as a popular adventure tourism destination. Lauding Mr. Budihal, who hails from the State, Kerala Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas has said his remarkable achievement at the ongoing championships in the picturesque coastal town of Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, underscores the rapid advancement of Kerala on the global surfing map, along with inspiring budding surfers to pursue their dreams in the exhilarating world of surfing. The surfing sensation from Kovalam in Kerala secured his spot in the finals after an impressive performance in the semifinal heat, finishing with a score of 11.43 points, which earned him second place. Virat Kohli resumes practice, shows first signs of returning to Indian cricket moments after white beard pic sparks fear
Virat Kohli is going nowhere. At least that's what it looks like. The Indian batting superstar, away from the limelight, just shared his first glimpse of returning to international cricket, sending a wave of happiness among his fans. Earlier in the day, a picture of him surfaced online, with plenty of grey hair, leaving fans worried. The Kohli faithful felt the end was near and feared the worst – a possible retirement from the ODIs, going by the amount of grey in his beard. However, Kohli, through a simple social media activity, confirmed that he is not done, and if anything, he is set for a return to Indian cricket sooner rather than later. Virat Kohli had his first hit in a while(Virat Kohli-Instagram) Kohli shared a picture with Gujarat Titans assistant coach Naeem Amin, in which both posed in what appeared to be an indoor cricket training facility. The backdrop suggests that Kohli, who hasn't played cricket since the conclusion of the IPL 2025, could have resumed practice ahead of his return, currently slated for October. "Thanks for helping out with the hit, brother. Always lovely to see you," Kohli captioned his Instagram story. What confirmed Kohli's training was that Amin was holding one of Kohli's classic MRF logoed bats in his hand. Kohli has flown under the radar and remained low-key since the IPL, making just two public appearances – going to attend Wimbledon and then gracing a 'YouWeCan' event hosted in London by Yuvraj Singh. He has, otherwise, been away from the public eye, and barring a couple of posts on X on the Indian team's performances in Birmingham and the Oval, Kohli has been, well, to put it simply, in hibernation. Who is Naeem Amin? Amin has been with the Titans since the franchise's beginning in 2022 and is the head of the Mighty Willow Academy. The academy is based in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and London, and is open to cricketers of all ages and abilities. Besides, Amin also played for Surrey CCC (2008) & Buckinghamshire CCC (2007), before serving as the national coach of Norway in 2011. He also served as the head coach of the MCC Foundation from 2013-2017, and before coming aboard the GT setup, Amis was also a coaching Assistant for Sunrisers Hyderabad from early 2018.
